I haven't tried messing with any of the settings, but I think it has to do something with DNS forwarders and resolvers. Might be worth looking into.

To answer your second question first, you'll need a SIM card in an iPhone in other to use that number as your sending address. Otherwise, it'll be an email address. If you do have a phone number associated with the account, you can use SMS with AirMessage. However, they come in much slower and are less reliable. I use T-Mobile Digits, which solves that issue for me at least. It also allows me to keep the main SIM in my iPhone.

At Tech dang that’s a really goof ideas about digits! I have T-Mobile One Plus actually. Do they charge for digits? So basically what I’m doing is this...I’m a apple guy...have iPhone XS on JOD (Jump on Demand) but today i ordered a Pixel 3a from google website and it’ll be here Monday or Tuesday. I really really want to love it which maybe I will now that I can use iMessages on it! I already have the server running on my Mac mini which is always on for Plex. Oh, I also have a T-Mobile iPad line...I’m curious if it’ll work in the Pixel

So if I have a spare iPhone and leave my sim in and get digits if someone on an iPhone texts my number it will come up in air message?

Digits (call and SMS forwarding) is free unless you want to add high speed data. I think 2G speeds might be included for free. You can use any or all lines on your T-Mobile account on a single Digits device. I use it on my Pixel 3 XL and it works pretty good, but I did opt for the high speed data option as well.

@@SiavashGolzar You have to set up port forwarding or use ngrok, or you could use BlueBubbles on the PlayStore which requires no port forwarding

Port forwarding is usually hidden somewhere under advanced settings. It's also a property of Firewall, so you could look under there as well.

Yes. As long as you can install the app from the Play Store, it’ll work.

This will work on any android app that can run the AirMessages app.
