The store behind this anime was that a while before the English translation studio and Voice actors got their script, the Original show in Japan absolutely flopped (was a faliure) and the English studio did not receive the script as a way to soft cancel the the english show, but the producers being confused and not knowing what to do, decided to roll with it and did what ever the f*ck they wanted with the script. so most if not all lines are adlibbed or made on the spot.
@@CardiacYew-xt5zq This is kind of true some lines were adlibbed but many things were written, also english team was told do what ever you can to make it sell but no changing character names how the ghost go to spiritual sleep everything, the show flopped in japan like you said.
As the other comment mentioned, the orginal anime was so bad they told the dubbers to basically say whatever they wanted as long as it still followed the plot of ghosts.
@@danmakes2497 I'm pretty sure that was debunked to some baseless rumor spread by the dub's director. The anime was actually pretty successful in Japan. Though, most people prefer the dub since apparently, the characters "sound less bland."
@@danmakes2497It's not that it was so bad, it's just that it was considered unmarketable in the US. It's a show about Japanese folklore with no name recognition in the west, it's not amazingly good so there was no opportunity for positive word of mouth to build, and it wasn't that successful even in Japan. If they'd produced a straight dub of the series, it would have flopped. It never would have found a big enough audience for it to be worth distributing. By most accounts the original Ghost Stories isn't actually bad... it's just very average.
Run ! she's a ghost ,and a b!@+h. !! first time I saw this anime I watched it with my brother. they throw this little laughs out there because this show is not for the faint of heart . it's really creepy. it's called ghost stories english dub.
@@Disgustingwholespices2002 okay ... well I'm just going by what I saw on Google maybe it's called something else in Japanese but in the English dub it's ghost stories. I was 2ed guessing it ,so I had to look it up on 2ed time on Google Japanese it's called Gakkou no Kadidan . If not right then I suppose Google is wrong . So if not called ghost stores do you what it's called ? Because like I said maybe I don't have all my facts right it's known to happen .
@@Disgustingwholespices2002 Bro sit down bc it’s Ghost Stories. At least the Dub version is called Ghost Stories. Bc that’s what it’s labeled as on Crunchyroll & everywhere else. This is a dub clip not sub. So you are the one giving false info. It does have 2 alternate titles though School Ghost Stories & Ghost at School. It’s shortened to Ghost Stories though.
only the english dub has lines like this btw the japanese sub version has the regular story but its not good st all but the english dub makes it really funny
While they were doing the English dubs, the voice actors got full authority to do whatever they wanted, for those that didn’t know. It really shows in the show.
I watched this on Animax when I was young and this was not the dub. It was like proper dub. This bitch still gives me nightmares. The way I already forget the main character's name (was it Saku?) but I remember this bitch's real name is Yamimae. Goosebumps. This and the episode involving the metronome and that song I forgot what song but I hear it in my head tinuninuninunung tinununung. The main character's mom even possessed her friend just to save them for that episode. And that Yuki-onna episode where they were with the actual ghost the whole time and they didn't know it. Another is like the movie shutter where the ghost was slowly draining the life of her friend when she latched on to her through a picture. At first it was just a hand then arms then almost like embracing. These are just a few of the episodes I remember. I wanna rewatch it one of these days. I wanna know what happened to Amanajaku at the end because I think he sacrificed himself to save them or something? I don't really remember. The bits I see of this wacky dub are so funny though.
