I have a suggestion on a brake use the bottom of your lift and a peace of angle iron,make a quick clamp and let gravity help you.

One tool we made for rolling sides on NASCAR bodies was a piece of large PVC, 8 or 12 inch dia pipe. Plywood discs inserted into the pipe with an inch and a half hole with a steel pipe as an axle. Tripod mounts on each end of the axle. Place the sheet over the PVC and force the panel down. The PVC will rotate so it's easier to put in the radius. One question, What about bending parallel to the grain or perpendicular on flat panels?

Project is progressing nicely. It appears at about the 6:40 mark that your video lighting projected the buck verticle rib location on the back of the panel you were carefully trimming back to. If I see this correctly, might be a useful tool. Awesome stuff man!

Really great set of videos ... the simple side barrel really progressed things quickly , but it still looks great .

Thanks Tom, It is nice to have certain parts of the car with quick results like this! Good for Morale!

@ Ive seen pics of your cars ,, thats good enough for my moral ,, Ill think of this as Im welding a rusted jacking point on a 2004 merc car tomorrow ,,, how I dream of alloy panels and english wheels ,, it will be 1.2mm steel bent over an old fire extinguisher ... how the other half live lol.

Do you make or modify tools yourself? Are you looking for auctions or used old goods, machining or hand tools?

Pardon my absolute ignorance but im curious, is it possible to soften the aluminium by heating it to simplify the forming process?
Год назад
Yes, In certain areas where we need to introduce more extreme shape or when the material “work hardens” I will “Anneal” the aluminum to being the hardness level to H-0 which is in a fully soft state.
@rodrigomartinelli741
@rodrigomartinelli741 Год назад
@ Would love to see that process sometime.. also, this might be a stretch but, is it possible to vacuum form aluminium at that H-0 point?

I don't even see the point of these 250 mph+ street legal cars. Cars like these make a lot more sense if you're going to flaunt your money and actually drive it. At least it has character.

No Cuts. It's usually the tungsten or the angle grinder that gets me!
