Way to go Ruth! I've run 13 marathons with my last one keto/fat adapted. It was one of my best marathon times as well as felt great and no issues. I'm a believer!

I have a sensitive stomach I usually eat nothing before I run One day I locked my phone and keys at work.afyer working 10 hrs So I ran home I had just eaten some sardines in spicy tomato sauce. I ran 6 miles to get home. I was amazed had no stomach issues at all. I'll try it again on my 12 mile run

Ruth I'm so glad I found your channel! Recently started training for the half IronMan in South Africa and I want to do it off fat! Started doing research on endurance athletes and Keto and I am so excited after watch your videos! I believe it is possible and it's all thanks to you!

Watched this a few years ago.. and again now. Still an excellent video to watch for some solid info! I've been keto/low carb for about 8+ years.. probably 90 percent of that time. I've ran almost daily also for 20+ years . I typically do 4-7 miles 5 days a week. Every now and then I'll get pumped to do a marathon.. never done one but your video is a good inspiration.. maybe I will this time! Your last video was 3 years ago.. are you still low carbing? Thanks!

This is what I was looking for. A keto Marathon RUNNER. I've been on keto for 8 weeks. -22 lbs. Looking forward to my first marathon on keto. The last three were on carbs with hard crashes around mile 22.

Nice work Ruth! If I can make a recommendation, you need to get a good quality mic to hookup to your camera/phone, I've noticed your audio is distorting on a lot of your videos, including this one. Your video quality is great, but bad audio will turn people off even the best vids. Cheers!

OMG yes please workout music recommendation/playlist. My workout performance at the gym has been going downhill all simply because I've ran out of good music to listen to.

Meeting my sub 4hr target and attaining my first marathon with no injury were achievable because of this marathon training “Zοrοtοn Axy” (Google it). The book provides tons of good information about training, diet plan, method, etc. however the very useful page in the whole book is the training schedule which tells you how far to run on what day. .

I was referred to your channel on another youtube channel regarding keto as fuel for a marathon. As a runner as well congratulations on your 1st marathon! I was surprised to hear your time was 4 hours but then you mentioned you've ran half marathons and you've always loved jogging. For anyone that doesn't run regularly or isn't active will most likely have a different experience. Again, congrats!

Smiling definitely does help. Training for Bataan Death March here in NM. Wife & I will be running the full marathon. We were strictly keto but now have been mostly on a carnivore diet for approx 6 months. BTW...this will be my first full marathon. Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Wow congrats. was a goal of mine way back to run a marathon, only did max 17km during training, then i had a back injury and havent run since. :(

I'm so inspired, now I'm gonna run a marathon. I'll get ketoed af and do it before I'm 51. If feel fit enough I might even see you on The Great Ocean road, May 19th. I've always wanted to run a marathon and you have done so incredibly well, 4 hours is amazingly good! So proud of you Ruth.

Well done. I cannot do low carb I am not able to finish a 6k when I cut my carbs so one can differ, never done a marathon. Your very lean and love the jeans. I have been where you are heading back that way. I put on a few pounds. I see both approaches work. I go moderate carbs moderate fat and low sugar.

Shorter faster races are too intense for fasted or low carb, the marathon is mostly low intensity aerobic so it's easier to do fasted or on just fats.

Fat adaptation for me has been a struggle, I started Keto a week ago, and I have a half marathon in 2 weeks but during my training runs Short and long on the weekend, I felt really fatigued and I got really frustrated, I dont want to stop eating Keto, but I want to have a better run ! my pace has become slower since I started Keto, so I am really confused ! you said yo had more energy, I havent feel that at all during my runs.... Any advice??????? Thankssss!

Fat adaptation last at least 3 weeks. You should give your body time. Once you are in ketosis your endurance level wil be higher than ever i promise👌

@@davilall what i recommend to drink bulletproof coffee in the day of marathon 1 hour before. 1 t.s of organic coconut oil and 1 t.s. of organic butter from grass fed cow and a pinch of cinnamon.I did it in my half marathon 21 km and i didnt have to snack during running although i took some walnuts with me. Certainly keto adaptation will take some time. And keto adaptation can take even more time if you dont follow keto right. Like u need to include your diet plenty amount of greens lots of leafy greens to support your liver. Your liver goes through difficult times- it makes huge work while making new energy( ketons) from fat instead of glucose. You should drink at least 3 litres of water during a day between meals to support the detoxification of your liver. If you have any questions you may write to my instagram👉 Ilaha4005. 😊

Oh man!? I’m so jealous! My 1st marathon was on carbs and it got sick and a bout of nerves and couldn’t fuel properly and though I finished it was a full hour longer than I’d trained. I felt like crap during and after and hit the wall badly at mile 20 and walked 2-3 miles of it in tears and vowed to never do another. I would love more info and I’m inspired by you to take up the long runs again but fat adapted this time!!! !👍 I’ve been good with half’s and 10ks but just never had much success since going Keto...I slowed my pace a lot. I’m thinking it’s taking me longer to adapt and need to up my fats before a run.
