This was one of the first movies on vhs i watched when my B in L got his video machine in 83 ...back in the day when you would all gather around at home to watch movies
That donut they left on Wyralla Rd, Miranda, Sydney was there for years.. I used to live a few blocks away. I remember watching them filming it . I was about 13 and with a bunch of friends with BMX bikes..
Fox knew he was done. That's why he said, Standing quarters out. Love V-I-C-T-O-Rs Peter Arcadiplane Mad Max front end XB Panvan. Wonder if he ever got it hopping ? Lol. Going up Whallah RD , Miranda 2morra to get some pics. And when cars leave startline of race there is no dounut mark on the road. .🤔🤔🤔
Some dodgy special effects, but the challenger is one of coolest movie cars ever, and the ending where fox calls it a day, lights a smoke and floors it into the wall is classic.I think he was sick of looking like boy george so he did himself in...
The owner of the 57 Chev wouldn't actually let anyone else drive the car in the film. Couldn't blame him really as he had a LOT of money invested in the car. During the movie, the cars 'owner' Rebel (a blind man) claimed the Chev did a standing quarter in 9.2 seconds. This was the real owner's best time in the 800 hp beast. You can see the real owner driving when Mike is doing his doughnut burnout before the race with Fox.
Sadly it sits languishing in a guys shed here somewhere now partly disassembled, after he bought it, with him saying he'll get it finished one day. it will probably be like so many other classics..left to rot unless somebody convinces the owner to part with it.
the story goes that the chevys owner did the burnout for the movie and check out the explosion at the end its a steel wheeled valiant coupe ,aussie car that blows up .fucking cool movie.....
This is to me mates that know of me and my ol beasts. The black animal was a detuned 427 blown that came out of a boat from what me connections told me and was still bloody good for 800+hp.bless the owner of this beast and mate i hope ya still thinkin of another bbc.,who knew when the kiwi built the car that it would arouse somemany great times and mems,to vin hope you always keep the beast as mine chev is gone (something of happy wife happy life,,,booo) luv the blown girl forever
@@catey62 For sure. Would love to get a pic of my custom 1.18 Fox.1 model takin with the real thing. . I got it signed by Terry Serio aka Mike & Paul Johnson aka Lecherous Garage Attendant at Weekend With Hooks Festival at Culgoa.
But did anyone know the make of boat being towed behind the Holden sedan in the first 3 seconds of this clip was a Pongrass ? The enlarged forward facing cabin window is a dead giveaway :) Pongrass boats were built in the Sydney area during the early to mid 70's, and like many other earlier boats manufactured here in Aust, were made to a slowly growing market. Overall they were just another box of s h i t offered up to the recreational anglers of that era & showcased as some fantastic seagoing thing vessel, the 2nd hand car sales pitch at its finest...gotta love the 70-80's for the innovation across our nation that although good on occasions, most was rubbish. how bout 'it's not Vic'...its Victor'....PV...the arcadapane monza front :)
I love car movies, looks like a good one but I wouldn't go as far as calling it the best scene ever. Come on man...there's Bullet,Vanishing Point, Death Proof etc. I'll check this movie out though looks pretty good
It's good (possibly great) for its time, and a period after. Much as I love this movie, it's nearly 40 years old so it's very outdated and a lot of great movies have come along that are better. It's definitely an acquired taste lol and I find people either love it or totally hate it lol.
Adoro la estética ochentera de los personajes hay algunos fanáticos del punk y la new wave y creo que el rubio de pelo largo posiblemente sea un metalero.
I remember seeing this movie on HBO it was called fast lane fever the race scenes you could see the cars were not going real fast like in graffiti and two lane black top.
Sadly it sits languishing in a guys shed here somewhere now partly disassembled, after he bought it, with him saying he'll get it finished one day. it will probably be like so many other classics..left to rot unless somebody convinces the owner to part with it.
⃕ Thanks friend, I get this piece of the movie. if I could put the link will greatly appreciate it and likewise I love cars if you need any movie gladly share it
did u guys know the donut is considered the best donut ever caught on film by the 57 chev yep what it carefully its flawless[ps im making a sequel im looking for that chev for a cameo if anyone knows him cheers
the doors that just FALL OFF the SAND that pours out of that blue... car... just fucking wow. and the pillars that were weak enough to be torn out of the ground and not hurt the front end or the windshield but somehow managed to smash the windshield into crystals, NOT Pieces. and the driver just so happening to have goggles instead of sunglasses. dude theres some shit even CGI can't fix.
the windshield breaking the way it did is not bullshit..here in Australia most of our cars used toughened glass windscreens that shattered like that up until the late 70's..some even a bit longer than that.that included a lot of the older Chevs and other imports as well..was just cheaper and I think in some states is was actually a legal requirement...not 100% sure on that one...and all in all its no different to many American movies with over the top crashes, jumps chases etc...just how the movie industry is.
Occasionally I see Holdens, Australian Fords and Australian Chryslers in LHD. Most Australians would ask why, or think it odd, but not stupid. Up until the late 50s Holden were BUILDING Chevys in their factories, so there's some chance this car was even born that way
Your'e right, Holdens did build LHD Holdens for export to other countries, and others would be cars people have imported to their countries and converted them to LHD themselves so they can register their cars. and yes, Holdens assembled Chevs and others in their factories in RHD form from CKD (completely knocked down) kits that we put together here for quite some time as well.a lot of these came from Canada from what I have been told.
0:25 Is that a Falcon with a concord front? I wonder is it was a leftover from the Mad Max films (The front end not the car) UPDATE: turn out to be a falcon panel van but they added that front end later.
+blachly30 The glasses that were from the owner of the '57. The owner was blind and taught Mike to "feel" the car when teaching Mike how to drive the beast. Watch the movie, it's a bit corny now but, still an Aussie classic.
I ASKED ERIC BANA TO MAKE GUEST APEARENCE HE WILL LET ME KNOW WHEN HE SES MY WORK MY HOBBY IS STUDYING CAR SCENES AND GIVING A CAR A PERSONALITY WITH CAMERA AND SOUND PLEASE WATCH MY JEZEBEL PLAYLIST CHEERS
vincent obrien You aren't a true Aussie if you don't enjoy this movie. I grew up watching this, was the first movie I've ever seen and I've probably seen it over 300 times since hahaha..
MrNQR ahah I've seen it a few times its just hard to get a copy now, there was another one about a boar that kills anything and it was pretty big to that movie came out around the same time, but all these Americans just can't see what a great movie this is ahah
Cool cars. I hope Aussie movies are better than this now. Why did the powder blue colored Chevy/GM car have a pickup bed on it? I've seen a lot of variations on the early 50's model Chevys, but none like that.
@@catey62 YES DEFINITELY AUSSIE WITH THOSE ACCENTS. TWO LANE BLACK TOP, CANNONBALL WITH DAVID CARRADINE AND VANISHING POINT BETTER MOVIES. BULLIT MOVIE HAS BEST CAR CHASE SCENE 10 MINUTES THROUGH STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO IN 1968 IN TWO CLASSIC CARS.
