So, this is more common than you think. In NY, if I remember correctly, some district/city policy Did Not have a problem with drivers drinking, just not DWI amount. We have put too much Faith in letting people take care of our Children

We keep allowing the institutions that we pay for sidestep responsibility. It’s total malarkey that the superintendent can’t make a statement. Once again an official on our dime telling us it’s none of our damn Business. This needs to end we see it in Congress and in the Senate with the head of the DOJ the head of homeland security the head of the FBI.

There was a complete lack of communication to the parents of children that ride that bus. That is my child’s bus and I found out about the incident via Facebook. Several hours later, the school formulated and sent an extremely vague email to all district parents, not providing any details or notification that our children were in extreme danger. He is worried about liability more than his responsibility to the children, the parents, and the community. The school can’t attract or retain staff because they chose to provide the superintendent with an exorbitant raise but offer pittance to teachers and staff, which was also brought up at the school board evening tonight.

Yeah... But it's Wisconsin. Half the kids in the bus had that same drunk; can do attitude to push the bus out. Rush city is very close to Wisconsin .. not quite there though.

First off, I had big property but I would never ever let a Bus use my property to turn around. Had something really bad happened the property owner would be sued as well. It's not worth the risk. Second.. if you knew she was a shitty driver w h y did you allow your children on that bus. Third, look into Home Schooling, it is so different today than it was 15 or 20 years ago. Fourth, I would hate to be a school bus driver but i high five and respect the many good ones out there.

sue the School Department and submit a Freedom of Information Act to find out if there is personnel documentation that they have previously spoken to this driver about her driving... and as an ex-bus driver... most drivers speed to make their scheduled pickups and deliveries to the school ON TIME... slow boarding, slow sitting down, student disruptions, and weather can slow a driver down...

Driving intoxicated with kids on board....yeah, that's a prison stretch. I don't care what your personal problems you may be having. As far as nothing being done after numerous complaints, well that's easy. You terminate the responsible person and maybe even press charges but that might be a big ask.

The best thing for the children is to get rid of the teacher's Union, so the children are protected. So people will get held accountable if they're drinking and driving a school bus. That should not be happening.

It is hard to get good help nowadays. Locally, I on several occasions I witnessed bus drivers running red lights and stop signs. I see "school bus drivers wanted" signs all the time. So, it looks like they are willing to settle in hiring anyone to get someone behind the wheel. Sad but true.

I would be more outraged if i hadn't already seen a couple of bus drivers charged with crimes for pretty dubious reasons. Hopefully it was more justified in this case. Like the guy charged with 39 counts of child engagement after he mildly brake checked the kids, after warning them, to show them why it was important to stay seated, and the lady charged with DUI after a single parent accused her of going 10 over the limit, in spite of her appearing to pass all the tests quite reasonably.

Probably the same bus driver that's almost gotten in a head on collision with me while I'm driving my semi truck around the rush city area and also pulled out of the kwik trip gas station directly in front of me causing me to slam on my brakes so i wouldn't hit a school bus full of kids directly in the middle of the bus couple weeks ago i hit the air horn and the driver just kept pulling out and kept going as if they never seen the semi. It's hard to miss a kenworth w990 on a bright and sunny day. Well, i guess, unless you're distracted or drunk.
