Are they square pegs or successful people? That is the question. Rush was performing in this song here the status quo for the average Joe and Jane. There were numbers (and still are) in any high school class who would persevere through the teeny boppery, cliques and bullying in public schools to go on and become highly successful.

@@nicholasmaxwell9899 You get 4 decades of music. The initial first straight forward but heavy heavy Zep influence debut. Enter Neil Peart as drummer 2nd album and Rush brings hard rock/early metal to Prog and the journey takes off. 20 min songs ( 2 on a couple albums, esoteric themes, Sci Fi) Then the 80s stuff, synth period, but thought provoking lyrics. The nineties return to more hard rock and a few swan song albums after the nineties. A quick survey that doesn't do justice. Class guys they are and master muscians. Enjoy discovering

Couple things. First of all, people like me like watching reaction videos to good rock and roll for a number of reasons. One reason is we don't want to see this highly creative stuff from the past die out. We grew up with it, we know how great it was and is. Do you ever get excited when a friend discovers and enjoys something that you've known about for some time? Not only does it take you back to your own discovery (nostalgia) when you see them light up in recognition of the goodness, but it brings you the additional joy of knowing there is one more person out there who likes it or at least can appreciate it. Now, there are a million reaction videos out there and not all of them are interesting. Yours are interesting because you're intelligent, curious, non-judgmental, and genuine. I hope you're taking some credit for that. :)

One of my favorite Rush songs, and I hadn't listened to it in a long time, so thank you for reacting to this! Rush is one of the all-time best power trios!! My current favorite power trio is The Warning, three sisters who have been playing together since the youngest, the bassist, was seven. She just turned 15. And they rock! Rush was one of their inspirations as a power trio, and drummer Neal Peart is one of the people that Paulina, drummer and songwriter, cites as an influence in her playing. And I'm down with what you said at the end. I am currently trying to find ways to strike out on my own. No 9 to 5, at present. In fact, in their second 'TedX Talks' at UNR, titled "You've been warned!" from two years ago, Paulina tells people they have to fight for their dreams. She is really an energetic, inspiring person. All three are! Go watch that, if you get a chance. There's also another 'TedX Talks' video from the year before that you might want to see after that. There are a whole lot of great recent songs of theirs (all original music) for you to react to! Rock on!!! Subscribed.

Just have to put it out there, I'm a seasoned Scribe. I was born in the sixty's. Came of age in the late seventy's, early Eighty's. Grew up in Baltimore. Classic rock, southern rock, folk rock, blues, early metal, pop, Motown, Jazz. Music was a huge part of my life. although I never played any instruments, I was the kid with the boombox and a collection of cassettes to rock any occasion!! {had over 200 albums recorded.} Over the past year or so I have been following many reaction channels. It has been some much fun watching a new generation discover the music that I love.{watching there minds and soul explode!} I love your videos, you are such a beautiful young lady, but I have to say, I absolutely love how you let your freak side out in your reactions. Its like going back in time when the songs first hit the air waves. My friends and I playing air guitar and bopping to the music.. Happy Holidays To you and your channel. I was lucky to grow up with RUSH. We had songs like this to grow up with. Songs that were theraputic to people like me who was socially awkward because I spent all my time playing drums. There were times I felt like an outcast because of my devotion to practice and my music, but I had songs like this to play along with and motivate me to keep going. I'm 50 still playing drums and still playing at a high level recording a cd last year and playing every weekend. Rush was such an inspiration to my drumming and spiritually. I also was spurred into writing lyrics when I learned Neil Peart wrote Rush's lyrics and I also began singing as a drummer as well. So glad I didn't cave to the norm and kept my dream alive. Bands like rush, triumph, pink floyd, led zeppelin, and later dream theater were there with songs that made you think and grow instead of the party songs and love songs that got the radio play.

Great song and thank you for those words after. I wish to share my favorite Rush song with you, "Secret Touch" from their 2002 album "Vapor Trails". If you decide to do a reaction vid to this, look up the remixed version (the band had a producer that royally messed up the mix in the original release). The lyrics were written by drummer Neil Peart as he spent a long sabbatical from the band to recover from a devastating set of circumstances (he lost his daughter to a car accident and his wife succumbed to cancer less than a year later). The song speaks to the way back, to reconnect to the land of the living. Plus the music kicks ass!

Good job on your reaction and take on this great song. I've been a Rush fan since the mid-70s and it's so refreshing to see all the reaction videos the younger people are putting up. City Kid, Suburb Kid, Ghetto Kid, Country Kid....doesn't matter. The social "clicks" and subdivisions of classes, people, ideals, expectations from parents and relatives, etc. affect us all. The "dreamers, the misfits so alone". The ones who won't or will not conform to what so-called society dictates to us as the "norm". To quote another Rush lyric from 'Vital Signs'...."everybody got to deviate from the norm"... Raise your glass to the individual thinkers out there! 🍻🍻🥂

When I was a kid, a great example of not fitting in was to be a teenage Rush fan (70's), so this song not only explained the phenomenon, it was also my anthem.

Beautiful reaction love how you get into the song with all abandon. I agree with Brian L, above, please react to Rush performing Xanadu live from Exit Stage Left. This song integrates all elements of the band, virtuosity passion and presentation.

I love your positive vibe! Rush and you are perfect for each other, because they are the epitome of positive. Maybe Jacob's Ladder or The Analog Kid next... Let's keep going down the rabbit hole

I love ya, and RUSH since 1977...to see you jam on music I've jammed for decades is awesome... Don't discount the older (experienced) transitions... Opinions are provided...and predecided...detached... You get it, so keep it Love, and I would love to see your reaction to even deeper, earlier RUSH... I've been there, a blend of many cultures. I went to UNR too...Wolfpack! But a Rebel too...like you UNLV... Happy Holidays thanks for being inspired and know you are a gem in the mix... Most younger people don't even take the time to listen to the amazing stuff I love... Peace and Power love! ✌💜😎🎼🎶🎸🎹🕪

Brings back good memories. I grew up in the 909, in the early 80's not much to do there and people tended to get along, so our crowd was diverse. The white guys would share Rush and other rock bands with black and hispanic friends, the black and hispanic (and Indian, Middle Eastern, various Asian, etc. etc.) friends would share their music favorites back with us, it was good times, I'm still in touch with some of them despite having moved away and moved on in life. It started a life-long love affair for me with Motown and funk. We all just dug each other's stuff and it was a happier time, before the media started telling everyone that we should hate each other. Praying for the good times to come back some day. Thanks for posting this, it made me feel happier today. P.S. LOVE the way you move and groove to this, you are a very musical person and as a musician, I love seeing this in others.

Not only is this the greatest song of all time, but there is so much more to this song than meets the eye. I personally know several people who have done their Ph.D. theses on RUSH and this song specifically. Aside from its OBVIOUS meaning (i.e. people who are not considered "cool" or "popular" being cast out from society), there is actually a "double meaning" to this song. The secondary meaning is the irony of people from the big city wanting to escape to where there is peace and quiet (i.e. the suburbs) yet the people from the suburbs want the "action" and want to go down to the big city to find it/experience it. Hence, we have subdivisions socially as well as geographically. It's almost the "flip side of the coin" kind of song. The more you listen to it, the more you appreciate its many, many layers and (as always) magnificent musicianship by the greatest band of all time. Not my opinion, but simply a fact of life.

I think it is a joy for all of us to see someone enjoy the music of their youth as much as you have enjoyed that art throughout the years. I love your reaction to this as well as your understanding the point of the song.
