Hello Andrew 🙂 Most Non-Floridians don't realize how nerve racking our hurricane season daily storms are. When the cooler rain air temps meets with our 100°-plus heat it creates ferocious lightening. You are smart to head for a safe place to wait it out. You are doing a great job! Stay safe and God bless.

Kind of surprised that you fully nailed each sheet since you were rushing to get them up. I think I'd have knocked in a few nails on each sheet, gotten as many up as possible, then gone back and completed the nailing job.

@@nicholas4839 Also agree. I know you were worried about the tropical storm maybe taking them off, but 10-12 nails per sheet should allow you to get everything up faster and still be secured. Looks like Fred is going to be a nothing-burger, so that's a big plus. Too soon to see where Grace is going to go, but it gives you some time.

I remember about 43 years ago when I was building our house. I put myself through the same pressure to get stuff done. Some things are critical, but I think you will find out as I did, that most of which you are worried about right now is not really that critical. I remember drilling holes in the subfloor (my house is framed floor on foundation) to allow puddles of water to drain. This was before I had it dryed in. The plywood subfloor suffered no ill effects and the house is as sound today as it was when I got done with it. Relax and trust in the Man upstairs to guide you. Tom in Leon County
@kingwood4357
@kingwood4357 3 года назад
I had to do the same thing but drilling holes did not do for me so I got the saw out and had to cut sections out for the water to drain. 32 years later no problems with the floor on the addition that I was building.

I’m sure it too late but you could cut off the lower 7 or 8 feet and work your way up the wall. That way if you only get two rows done today you can drop the remaining plastic down. Love the build. Quality work.

Next time you do this just cut the plastic for each row. 3‘ 7‘ up etc. itwod have let you keep the attic OSB dry along with the upper edge of any OSB you could just staple the plastic down to it if the rain came up in a hurry. The water was shut down the plastic then down any exposed OSB it would be fine for a couple of weeks that way.

If you have some odd file formats to deal with check it with VLC media player as it will play and convert most file formats and can be used to view corrupted video files to see if anything is still recoverable. With the laser you are testing have you run into using a sheet of glass with a layer of white and black paint on it as a surface to laser? Depending on the top/bottom colors and the settings you can get some fun black and white images on it or use it to create a light box for shadows and colors to be visible.

Have not tried that yet with the laser, I have a lot of ideas I am eager to try.

Just a suggestion for hot tools, I used to have an old white (or light colored) bath towel with me just to cover the tools I was using in the sun. Made a world of difference. Andrew, why dont you put the sheet up, put 8 nails in it to hold it there, and go on to the next sheet. Come back to filling in the rest of the nails on a day when it is going to be fine. This way you are getting the sheets up a lot quicker, and can get the job done before the storm.

Hi Andrew. If you wanted that black band on the bottom lip so badly then what had stopped you banding these 6,5 OSB sheets in advance? :) You could have them around waiting to be nailed. Then just band again over the nails as you are doing for upper seams. Yes, it will require a bit more material (double banding), but you're under pressure here. 🤷‍♂️
