They were better, more transparent, faster, more texture and better tone. I struggled with the bass with them though, my room seems to prefer a down firing port like the chario speakers. I have some new speakers with a transmission line design now which are better suited to my room. The red 100 need a decent size room to breath as they throw out some serious energy. I had to use a fair bit of eq in dirac to get them to behave.
@@russellparker4568 Thank you for such a detailed response! I was curious as I am now the proud owner of those truly unique Charios! One day I would like to try Russell K speakers, but for now they are a little out of budget. I'm an enthusiast like yourself and always in pursuit of the 'end game' speaker. The work you did on the Chario is very impressive, and paired with my Primare amp and the right source material the results can be fantastic - detail and space in spades! I have a few pairs of speakers, some will go, but there are some keepers; including an immaculate pair of 1970's Celestion Dittons, Martin Logan Motion bookshelf, and your modded Charios! (that turned up by way of eBay!)
