It basically dictates finding a SINGLE weak point, and penetrating it with armor in order to get into operational depths, and then spreading out from there. The soviet deep battle doctrine (much more similar to what the Russians are using now), dictates that they create multiple weak spots with massed artillery and specialized assault squads to make multiple penetrations. Then the mobile units are sent in into the operational depths along multiple axes which ultimately converge to envelop the enemy. It's a small, but significant difference. And of course, neither side is using massed armor charges any more. But what the russians are doing is more akin to deep battle doctrine, and Brusilov's offensive (from ww1)

Russia uses the egg cracking method. Apply pressure all across the front holding a static line and just like an egg under pressure starts to crack you push through where the cracks form

Whereas in mobile warfare it was a continual concerted effort by all arms, with tanks (but supported) being the tip of the spear. It is very specific, and is absolutely a combined arms doctrine. In fact, Operation Bagration was the first time the Soviets were able to use it in ww2 precisely because it was the first time they had the sufficient resources of all the different combined arms available on a large enough scale to properly implement it. The piece they were missing throughout most of the war was air superiority. Also, tanks do NOT make the breakthrough in deep battle doctrine. They just exploit it, and then they require motorized infantry to support them.

The military aid is all older equipment that was being prepped to be replaced and scrapped anyway (I know, I helped load some onto railcars to be shipped out). All in all if we full stopped supporting Ukraine today we would have worse equipment in the future since Ukraine is giving us valuable combat data on our gear, down a ally and a enbolded Putin can continue his crazy crusade to "Reunited the Russian Empire" (yes he wants Alaska too). Sadly many Ukrainians believe the lies the west (and their own high command) have been saying. They will get really hostile if you try to tell them they have been duped, basically saying that everything that goes against the mainstream narrative is russian propaganda...(even if its objective truth) To clarify, i'm from the west myself. If you know the Ukrainian "cannibal" Podolyak, advisor to the head of Zelensky's office, they found his brother's grave in Russia a couple of days ago. He died recently.
