Magburner, Thank you for the link. 1) The funny thing is that (maybe because I don't speak Russian) the anthem sounds much more powerful and inspiring when sung in Russian language than in English ! 2) You make it sound like that anthem is from an other time... and maybe obsolete. Well, maybe not ! For a long time I thought the same about the French Marseillaise written during the French revolution in 1792 and officially becoming the French national anthem in 1879. It tells how we should fight those foreign enemies coming to our country cities and even to the countriside commiting crimes and raping women... With the recent waves of African and Muslim refugees/immigrants commiting crimes and rapes all over the European Union, the Marseillaise doesn't sound so obsolete any more :-)
