There’s a Soviet channel that gets overdubbed in English where he covers what he calls the pendulum bounce with incredible detail. Just for anyone reading that’s working on it, it’s a great resource. Great video also, cheers 🍻

Another thing that I think complements this well is practicing both the jab as you step in and as you step out, makes it really hard for the opponent to get a timing of your rhythm and put any offense of their own because your jab can still occupy that space as you step back. Combined it's really useful because it overloads the opponent with information where they either waste energy engaging with every feint or let it land and allow you to start the exchanges.

Hey Varga can you make a video on how to deal with opponents that blitz in? The ones that keep a distance so you can’t land kicks, then jump in with hands and overhead punches. I’m tall in my weight class and have to deal with this a lot from shorter guys. Thanks

How would you deal with low kicks using this style of footwork
@willowwren615
@willowwren615 Месяц назад
Is it imperative in this particular style of footwork that I keep my hands low. Does it serve as bait or make the jab harder to see or could I also do this with my hands high and it work with the same efficacy? Sorry if that is a dumb question I am very new to boxing.
@seanvansickel
@seanvansickel Месяц назад
Lower hands act as a counterbalance and let you move your torso and change direction faster. You could do it with a high guard, but you'll lose some of that valuable mobility and speed, which is its own defense.

Bivol uses more head movement in mid range, when he's bouncing in and out long range it's more footwork.

One question Varga, or anyone that might be helpful: How can one translate this approach to kickboxing? Is it even possibel? Boxers are trained to have great stamina, but relying in both hands and kicks can be very demanding in stamina. Are there any examples of puttin this to work?
@yamiyomizuki
@yamiyomizuki Месяц назад
I would imagine that would end up looking a bit like what Wonderboy does but with more punches.
@ravifonseca8
@ravifonseca8 Месяц назад
@@yamiyomizuki That is indeed a good example, since he does some pretty good step-in and step-out. My only issue with it, in my case, would be, since I don't have his expertise, not with karate or in that stance, getting pieced apart by someone who'd execute very well-timed and low kicks. He's literally the only one, and using that stance that I enjoy, the rest of them, like, let's say, Raymond Daniels, for example, I can't enjoy one bit
@yamiyomizuki
@yamiyomizuki Месяц назад
@@ravifonseca8 another example of someone who uses the boaded stance and in and out blitzing in kickboxing would be Michael venom Page. I don't know if you enjoy watching him or not but he definitely makes it work for him. my advice would be that if you wanted to use that style you should pick up a bit of karate or taekwondo, or a bit of both. you don't have to master them, just get a bit of experience. mvp has apparently said his style is a mixture of bits of taekwondo and karate but as far as I know he doesn't have a blackbelt in either of them. also one advantage you have is that since other people have used this style already you can study what they did instead of having to figure it out yourself.
@yamiyomizuki
@yamiyomizuki Месяц назад
@@ravifonseca8 also depending on the context how good you are may or may not matter. if you want to go pro then of course you need to be the best you can be and use the best strategy for you, but if you are training purely as a hobby then you don't really need to be amazing so long as you are enjoying yourself.
@ravifonseca8
@ravifonseca8 Месяц назад
@@yamiyomizuki Yeah, I guess that would really be another great example. I'm not a fan of it, but it's definitely effective. I suppose by most of the examples you're giving me, this goes more along with the side stance, which is something I'm definitely not keen to adopt. In that regard, I'd prefer to continue with the Dutch-style game. And no, it's not with the intent of going pro (so far, I think). Just pure leisure, but I do enjoy improving and trying new interesting things. Still, all very good tips 👌.
