This video covers a request I had for an electrical circuit in RUST. Once built HBHF sensors will monitor your base and if they detect someone raiding you they'll lock down your base doors. I've also included an added security measure so that the door controllers are a little bit safer.
Really helpful RUST electricity circuit, particularly for those that have teammates that constantly leave doors open.
If there's a circuit you'd like to know how to do leave me a comment and I'll add it to the list! :)
Oh also I included something a bit different in this one. There's an explanation of how the circuit actually works which is something that I've had a number of people request. I'd love some feedback on if what I've done here works or things I could do to improve it and help you guys understand the circuits better.

I like the explanation at the end and how you draw red lines to highlight what you were talking about rather than referring to Branch A, B, C,..Z,..AA, AB... ;)

When people started asking for explanations on the circuits I was like oh shit this is going to be complicated lol... This was the best way I could come up with and thought it worked pretty well. Definitely a lot easier to understand than just me rambling with viewers having no idea what part I'm even talking about lol.

Great vid! Interesting about XOR and OR comparison. I was tearing my hair out why the OR wouldnt work but the XOR would (in an Autoturret circuit i was building) but this is the reason i guess! According to Rustlabs they consume 1 power so in theory it still shouldnt get to the 2nd XOR switch in your example (if im understanding correctly). Also so frustrating having to use so many branches as well I wish they would bring out one with much more outputs! ...Anyway great vid mate. :-D

5:48 - I would add that since this is basically a 'We're getting Raided!' Warning / Base shutdown system then you could also use the power out of the mem cell to go to a system of alarm lights/speakers deeper inside the base and/or the smart alarm (when the app gets released, to send you a notification), etc. It would also let you know that once everything is clear someone needs to go hit the master reset switch in TC room, or wherever it is that you feel safe enough to put a literal open all the doors' switch.

XOR switches are so underrated. They can act as blockers, AND switches, OR switches, are fairly common, don't consume power and are cheaper than a blocker (5 HQM vs 5HQM+1 gear). And they work both ways!
@Malonik
@Malonik 4 года назад
I think a lot of people just don't understand them. Like the or / and switches etc are nice and simple because their functionality is in their name. Where as with an XOR people see it and are like wtf is XOR lol. I'm curious to know how you're implementing them as an and switch or blocker though. I wouldn't have thought you could use them as an and switch because it'd send power through when only 1 line inputs power.

You could alternatively make this with RF Broadcasters for each HBHF sensor, all set to the same frequency. A single RF Receiver would trigger the Memory cell. This would remove the need for XOR switches, but would be a bit more expensive in terms of tech trash and high qual.

Yeah a lot of people don't realize that which to be honest is completely fair. I would have expected them to use 1 power and for a long time thought they did until I tried one lol. Another funny little electricity thing is that you don't need to power a pressure pad if you're just wanting it to trigger 1 thing. Not sure why but hey it works lol.

I think door controllers are viable mostly for airlocks, turret pods or minicopter garage, even the simplest setup (pressure pad + door controller) can make your base more secure and you don't have to turn your head back each time to close the door as you leave. But due to door controller nature and lack of different states it is really annoying to use. Regarding security concerns I've seen a really good solution suggested by someone - placing the RF broadcaster on top of the TC, so coupled with hidden antenna it automatically cuts the power once tool cupboard gets destroyed. But if you plan to use circuits like that external TC's or multi-TC build is a must
@Malonik

Yeah that's fair enough, it's annoying as hell that the for controller is really a door toggle rather than a controller lol.

rly like your video's and they helped me alot getting the basics. the x/or's in this setup however i feel have a security flaw, because when a larger group would be triggering both sensors (coincidentally) or the sensors overlap their area accidentally, the x/or wont pass any power through. i get its a small chance as the timing for triggering both sensors would need to be perfect, but still. personally i use a circuit requiering a little more power, being an and switch for every hbhf and have a branch feed the 2nd input on the and switch to supply enough power through that line, as the hbhf will only need to put 1 power into the and switch to activate the passthrough. after that i funnel the and switches into or switches to get 1 output line again. i feel the extra power consumption is worth covering that risk. interested how you feel about this.

Just wondering why you chose XOR switches instead of OR switches. It is highly unlikely but if the two sensors go off at once and they are both on the same your switch it won't send any signal. With the or switch it doesn't matter how many sensors pick something up. Edit: Ah, I see. Should have watched the entire thing. However you can avoid the problem of the 1 power output of sensors with a branch in front and and AND behind the sensor Edit2: that said your solution saves energy and will probably do the job anyway, so nicely done creating this efficient circut

So, i realized that if every sensor goes off, the XOR's should effectively trip themselves and reopen the doors. however, if you have power always running through an AND circuit, you can use the AND as a little transistor instead of XOR's, this removes both the 1 power problem, and the short circuit issue.

I would use 2 HBHF sensors, one for your team and one to exclude your team. The one to exclude your team would be for raiders to trigger, with a blocker. The blocker would then go to an AND SWITCH coupled with the other one for your team. So if you came home you could open all the doors for yourself but if someone else was outside or in your base it wouldn't open anything and would cut power and close the doors. Something like this i.imgur.com/jRr686I.png Much more simple IMO

I have watched tons of rust electricity videos. I know the basics like batteries, switches, branches and combiners but, I can't use them in a circuit that I plan. I would love to have a base with both this door system and a light system that automatically lights up when it's dark and shuts down when it's day time. Also I want maybe one or even two turret traps with hearth beat sensors. But it all gets really really complicated. I want to use solar panels because wind turbines can be griefed easily and it makes your base look more apealing with a tower to generate more power. I would really love to see a base design stuffed with practical and cool electricity circuits like an in game clock.. I honestly don't care about it being 100 rockets and cramped up with all that bunker shit. I think that would be a really good video to do.
@fAke1212
@fAke1212 4 года назад
You can definitely do this, even though it's going to be a hassle. What I would recommend is having separate circuits for the seperate functions. You make this circuit + battery backup cause of the solar panels, and you find the other circuits too, and also give them battery backups. The easiest one is by far the light circuit. Use as many solar panels you need, combine with root combiners, and then send the power to a battery of your preference. Then connect the output of the battery to the input of a blocker. To block the passthrough, either use a separate solar panel, or before you connect the power source to the battery, branch out 2 power into the block passage input. The output of the blocker should support all the lights, that will automatically only be on when the solar panels send no power. I'm on my phone, so sorry if any of this is confusing/poorly formatted
@Malonik
@Malonik 4 года назад
Sounds like you're overwhelming yourself, keep things as simple as possible when it comes to electricity and especially implementing multiple things. Have an electrical branch chain from your main power and each branch off is a new project/circuit. The lights are particularly easy because you all you need to do is put a blocker before the lights and run a solar panel into the block socket. Then when it loses sunlight it'll turn your lights on. The turret traps are just a sensor into door controller and if you're wanting to save power and not run the turrets constantly the sensor and mains power into an and switch then branch out to the door controllers and turrets. The clock I haven't done, mostly because without admin you can't get the current server time and it'd shit me knowing it's not accurate lol.

@@Malonik I was thinking that in theory because of the exclusive nature of XOR if there is another signal it would cancel up the other. so hypothetically if two signals were to happen at the same time then they would cancel each other out failing to push through a pulse to trigger the memory cell to switch on the lockdown. but that might not case in actuality if thats what your tests show - i would interested to check into that myself if there is something useful to exploit there. i know electricity doesnt flow instantly but takes more time if it has multiple components to travel so maybe there is something like that going on - which in this case could be useful. (I made a self turning off generator turret circuit for a friend who loves cave bases but i could only make it work if i slowed down part of the circuit by adding additional components to slow the signal down enough to keep the whole thing on long enough to get all the other components to function.)

you are correct in theory but Rust doesn't always work according to plan lol. I put them near each other in this vid for simplicity sake when explaining it but actually implementing it into a base you'd spread them out around it. That way no one can ever forget doors open as they shut automatically the moment the last person leaves (and open automatically when you come home) and the moment the last of your team is killed during a raid the base will lock down possibly even trapping Raiders inside, especially if you delay the lockdown 5 seconds or so to let them think they won and get comfortable.

Why are you forcing branches when you can save more power with splitters?
@Malonik
@Malonik 4 года назад
The splitter would work for this example but that's exactly it, it's an example. I didn't know how many door controllers nyceee wanted so I went with 3 but I used branches incase they've got a bunch of doors or even a weird amount of doors. Also check out the power minute on splitters, they have some really negative features if your power supply fluctuates.

What if 2 sensor are triggerd at the same time?
@Malonik
@Malonik 4 года назад
Works the same way, so long as at least 1 gets triggered the circuit will kick in. Only difference being if 2 got triggered it'd send 2 power through instead of 1.

@@Malonik ok, maybe it's too early for my little brain, but wouldn't the XOR switches cancel eachother if ALL of them get triggered? it's not impossible to have your base surrounded

my friend was building every floor 0.5 high just cause he wanted to hide door controllers inside the pancake. i dont like em.

Dude they cant just put door controller and get in cause they need pass of the door first...

not to hate or anything, but why ever make something like this on a real server
@Malonik
@Malonik 4 года назад
Personally I wouldn't. Hell I won't even use door controllers as I say in the vid. But someone asked me if I could do a circuit for it and well, I could, so I figured sure why not help them out lol. :)
