Thanks for the max depth explanation! I finally ran into it on my last wipe. I understood it was happening because of root combiners, but didn't understand fully why it was happening. I redid all my root combiners (got a little sloppy) and was able to fix it on my Nih Core circuit, but still didn't quite understand the root cause. The linear explanation and visual representation you had made it very clear. So thanks for that!

I'm kinda new to rust and electricity isnt my strong suit but you have no idea how this made hooking up stuff much easier for me. I had a large battery connected to all the lights. Then I was making car batteries each time to power up my heater and and furnaces.. Now I have 6 branches coming off root combiner thats hooked up to one Large battery going to everything! A+ guide very easy to understand!

Viewing the branch as a tree is helpful but worth mentioning that if input power drops, the branch will get priority and continue to get it's assigned power while the trunk will reduce it's output power. So the trunk output will drop all the way to zero before branch will lose any power at all. As power is restored, branches will again have priority and fully get their power before the trunk output gets any. Understanding that is a core concept to some more in-depth circuits.

6:34 I assume you already know, but ceiling lights only require 1 power, the text in game is wrong, they only need 2 power if you use the passthrough, and if you do that, you -1 total power required as the last light in the chain only requires 1 power. Check yourself, 3 lights off a spliter, send only 4 power, all 3 lights will activate. Server reset bugs this but an on/off cycle resets them, so if your lights auto cycle you wont even notice. Basically you have a choice, low power parallel or high power series connections, but only for the default ceiling lights.
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 11 месяцев назад
Yep! Generally, I stick to what is out there as far as general information. Most sites list the lights at 2 rW so I just leave it at that incase any updates come out. Plus, I try not to confuse newer players. But you're correct, I should probably address this in another tips video.

I have been having this wipe alot of problems with root combiners, they work perfectly fine, then suddenly you notice they are not adding up, unplug and replug it screws up even more then stops lighting up completely . weird like 2 weeks of running fine.

Hey thanks! I don't, but I've thought about a "behind the scenes" channel. That said, I do all my RUST videos on my personal server. I use the Sign Artist plugin (free) to paste them onto the signs and Snappa (paid version) to create the graphics.

Are you playing on PC? Any tips on clean wiring placements? your wire placements are so clean and some of them are even freaking right angles! i need help. my OCD is killing me
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Месяц назад
Yep, PC. And thanks! Some of my wiring in my videos is made easier being an admin, but it's all doable without it as well. In-game, I will run one wire VERY carefully to use as a guide for the other wires. I also will use spots on walls/floors (etc) as markers to run straight lines. Another trick is to use corners. If you get close and hover around the corner you'll see the wire "snap" in close (not literally snap, but that's what it looks like...). And yet another trick is to use the new switch snapping feature on PC. Hope this helps!

where do you get your .80 number as a divisible equation for the active battery usage? (sorry if this is a dumb question)
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 8 месяцев назад
Not a dumb question. It's based on the 80% charging efficiency of RUST batteries. Example, if you send 10 rW to charge any battery it will only accept 8 rW. The decimal form of 80% is 0.8 and is used in the equation to calculate the minimum root power you'll need for charging. root power = active usage / 0.8

Hey, I got a question. I have a circuit that works fine if I don't feed back the remaining electricity back into a battery. When I feed back the remaining power into 3 large batteries over a splitter, it gives me a Max Depth / Short Circuit error. I have root combiners after the big batteries. I have root combiners for the power sources. Is it that I can't make a 'complete' circuit with batteries in between making it a short circuit or is it that I have reached max depth because there are more than 16 components between power source and the root combiner after the big batteries once it feeds back into them? Thanks!
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 9 месяцев назад
I'd have to see the circuit to be sure, but if you're getting a max depth error it's most likely because you have a 16th root combiner in an electrical chain (if that makes sense). Feel free to jump on my Discord if you'd like to work it out.

Hey @@AustinKlailaGames thanks for the response. Yeah, as you probably know everything was force wiped. I eventually figured that I would just make life easy on me and separate Battery charging from the main cycle and thus simplifying the network.

still quite a bit there i never knew, thankx for that. However what is the maximum accepted/effective charge on each of the batteries? like large batteries does it have a max accepted charge of 150RW or 200RW? cant seem to find anything that confirms this.
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 11 месяцев назад
The large battery has a max input charge of 400 rW. I'll have to check, but it might be the same for the other two as well.

How to you get the perfect right angles on the walls? Rust needs to apply a grid to walls when holding the wire, that would make things so nice
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 8 месяцев назад
Practice. If you hover the wire in corners it'll "snap" closer if you're at the correct angle.
@m-yday
@m-yday 10 месяцев назад
Is there a reason behind the .8 value?
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 10 месяцев назад
Rust batteries have an 80% efficiency when charging. So, when you are calculating how much root power you're going to need to keep your battery charged, you look at your Active Usage and then use this equation: Required Root Power = Active usage ÷ 0.8. The 0.8 is the decimal form of 80% Hope this help!
