Couple of points to help. Power for Solar panels is dependant on time of day, wipe to wipe, server to server. The sun doesn't always rise in the same place and if there's weather conditions such as fog - power is again limited. Batteries can be used while being charged, but as said, when the battery is empty (~5s) the battery will cease to power till it has 1 or 2 seconds more power. The drain is faster than the charge, although again like you say - the drain is slower. I need to finish off watching your vid, but for now - good job so far and keep creating more :)

Thanks for the added info and feedback, Rusty. With rain and snow on the way, I wonder how consistent solar panels will remain. I gotta say, I love modded servers with a slight chance of you getting a generator, haha. Another vid on the way soon! Lemme know if there's any circuit or electrical design you need help with and Ill make a guide on it!

@@shotgunjump432 xAbendrothx Thanks dude, finally finished watching and noted another thing... HBHF sensors have a range of ~30m (thats assuming that 1 square tile is 10m by 10m) - let me know if I'm wrong here. Thanks for the offer of building circuits :)

Well, the in-game description of the HBHF says 20m. I don't know if it is 100% accurate or not. Maybe we can lay out a bunch of dead, naked slaves and assume they're all 5'8'' and see how close to 20 or 30 meters we get to xD

Thankyou for this video it really goes in depth with electricity in rust. To add to your comments on connecting to batteries through root combiners: I setup a system with 4 large batteries and combined them into a single signal of 400 power. i did not realize this would cause me issues later on in relation to the issue you brought up. Interestingly though it seemed that only one of the batteries was decharging at a time even if the power usage exceeded 100. It would be nice if there was a way to combine power through other components and not just through batteries/power sources

The best explanation I have found so far, for this subject. I do know things have changed (adding medium batteries, and you can branch them together and they can be charged while being used. But, I am still trying to learn and you helped me TONS! Liked and Subscribed!

Regarding Solar Panels: Like in real life, it depends where you are on the map. The sun in rust rises in the east and sets in the west, following along the middle of the map the entire time. If you’re in the southern part of the map, your panels should face north. If you’re south west, aim them north east, so as to have them capture the most amount of sunlight possible. If south east, aim north west, etc. That’s how they work. When I set them up, they always get 20 power until the very end and beginning of each day, regardless of weather.

From the research I've done, the orientation of solar panels does matter. The sun in the sky is not the sun the solar panels use. There is an "imaginary sun" that travels straigh through the middle of the map from left to right. It bisects the map into a north and a south. If you're south of that line, face your panels north. If you're north of that line, face your panels south. You should get max power regardless of where the graphical sun is.

Solar panels need to point straight north for best and longest power output. When placing, since it faces you, center your compass at top middle of screen for South.

Solar panels should always face to the center of the map. so if your base is in the south part of the map, they face north, and vice versa. If your base is right in the middle, it can take a lil trial and error to know which direction you need to be facing them. I can guarantee this info is correct, at least as of the time of writing this. Also, batteries now support passthrough charging

how would you do a tesla coil trap with a heart beat sensor when only one power is dispensed

Use an AND Switch. Branch your main power to an AND Switch and the heartbeat sensor. Now connect the output of the heartbeat to the AND Switch. Connect the output of the AND Switch to the coil. Hope that helps :)

So is there no way to have an hbf sensor trigger both an alarm and a flashing light? Because of the power output of 1.

You'll need to use an AND switch to have an hbhf trigger multiple things.

Link an hbhf to one input of the and switch, and connect an open line to the other input of the AND switch. Now connect the output of the AND switch to whatever alarm stuff you're doing. It will only turn on when the hbhf is triggered. Watch the part of the vid where I go over the and switch. There a shortcut to the part of the video in the description.

Thank you. I will try this. I just put two hbhf sensors side by side. One triggers light, other triggers alarm. Ur way may be more cost efficient but I don’t have and switch researched yet. Lol

Yeah, they are called simple lights. They only can be used on certain modded servers or spawned using console commands.

I forgot to mention it, but the hbhf will passthrough power equal to how many people it detects. Ie if it detects 5 people, it will let 5 power pass through. You could rig an hbhf to a counter in your base so you can tell how many people are outside without going outside. The memory cell will remember what state it is in even when you cut its power. Ie if it is in inverted state and it loses power completely, upon restoring power, it will restart in it's inverted state. Same for normal state.

You can. You need to make sure theres enough power in the system. Then make sure the branch-out is set to a good value. Like, if you had 63 power, send in it through a branch with it's branch-out set to 31. That would allow each splitter to receive 30 units of power. So each output of the splitter would be good for 10 units of power each.

Do a degree, yes. The height of the wind turbine will give you more consistent high wind speed. But don't feel like you need to put it on a mile high base. Just slap in on a roof or something and you'll be aight. Most important with this is to just make sure no wind is getting blocked from reaching the turbine.

First of all, word of advice. When you are trying to point to something, or are just talking about something you are looking at, DON'T wiggle and shake the mouse. I dont know why so many youtubers like to do that. It does nothing except make people dizzy. Use a video editor to add a laser pointer or cursor or something. Otherwise nice video.
