RUST Electricity Tutorial | Battery Backup 2.0 - Minimum 8 HOURS of TRUE Battery Backup 2022!
Two independent battery backups give you up to 8 HOURS of true battery power when fully loaded, and even more when not fully loaded! The days of raiders waiting out your power supply are over.
NOTE: On multiple occasions in this video I mistakenly say 5-10 hours of battery backup. I meant 4-8 hours...

8:16 what i believe u want to do is connect branch out set to 2 to blocker and power out to or switch. If u do it like shown in the video it'll just drain battery with full voltage even without anything connected. (realised when tried to do 2 battery setup for my cave with no way to get electricity from the outside)

Another great video I will be applying to console. We have a group of 5-7 players and we want a base that uses approximately 200 volts with 6 large batteries as backups so there is 20 hours of back up. Can I use the blocker in a series or do I need multiple OR switches? Do you ever review bases on console?
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Год назад
Thank you! That could be done, actually. To do 6 batteries would require a bit of special wiring since they would need to be on standby. The battery backup in this video wouldn't take another three in its current setup. I'll get it designed and post a video for you. I have been gearing up to start base reviews that also include wiring tips. Happy to cover a specific base design if you like.

how about if v2 version i somehow lose half of my power source, green battery power will go all the way to 0 and it switches to blue one but there are still something powering the green one. Wont the circuit be switching between green and blue one constantly? Coz green will still get some power which is not enough obviously.. i hope u know what im trying to say

That is a very interesting point, you might be correct. I'm going to have to test that. If that does happen I'll have to update the circuit. Thank you!

Is this the same thing as a : " infinite power loop " as they call it? Another question, hypothetically ...on a realistic scale - there any way this or a similar more complexive set up - say ya had 54 turrets ( instead of just 9, that would normally be one one battery, one windmills and couple solar panel set up - normal average setups ) ... and run 54 turrets, some lights and some electric furnaces and run them ALL on ONE battery OR " battery system " . Can this be done in such a way, where all 6 windmills and 12 solar panels go straight to ONE battery,..and soon as it is filled with maxed energy,...rest of the 5 backup batteries fill up ....and the entire system continue to keep everything going. Is there such a system like this of what im talking about?
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Год назад
Assuming that I'm understanding your question, you cannot run more than 100 rW on a large battery. Anything in the system hooked up past the last rW will not be powered. So, 54 turrets on a single battery, regardless of charging sources, will not work. The most secure method would be to run independent battery/turret setups that each have their own backup batteries. This way, raiders can't must destroy a single power source to disable all turrets. They would have to hunt down each system to take out turret groups.
@kegdjevy3571
@kegdjevy3571 2 года назад
In the video you have 200 power going in to the circuit (from the power sources). Do you think it would be better to root combine every turbine and solar panel together, then branch power off to each battery (like 200 to each battery system with two batteries). Or would it be better to have a few input sources for each battery system (like each one gets its own turbine + panels, instead of all turbines and panels being combined then branched to the system)
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 2 года назад
I would recommend each battery system, whether single or in backup circuits, receive it's own dedicated power source (or sources). This way if parts of root power systems are destroyed they don't affect the entire electrical system, just the parts they're connected to. This is a prime example as to why it's also smart to run half your turrets off one battery or battery system and the other half off of another and then stagger/mix their placement. This way raiders have to destroy more to really take you down, if that made any sense.
@kegdjevy3571
@kegdjevy3571 2 года назад
@@AustinKlailaGames Yeah, that makes sense! So have the turrets next to eachother running off of separate batteries. Thanks, that helps a lot!

important to know! although the second setup looks better, there is a case where it's simply inferior compared to the first setup: if u use something which doesn't need power all the time a simple switch won't result in saving the energy and load the battery faster. it simply doesn't work. the branch sends the energy anyways no matter if there is a switch which is blocking the passthrough. If you use the first setup the battery will only drain dependent on the drain source. tdlr: 1. setup is good for furnaces or other thing you dont want to run all the time to save energy and boost your battery. 2. setup is perfect for 24/7 energy use like turrets. 3. setup gives you both advantages. If someone knows how to modify the second setup and be able to save energy usage and funnel it to the battery please let me know but as far as i understand it there is no way without manually changing the branch setting.

is possible but with a lot more logic, like alot alot more, (detecing amount left over, lots of configuration etc) but possible. i might actually try do it in BS when i have time
@inHell-rb
@inHell-rb Год назад
@@kjlkdjasd that sounds very interesting and complex. I can't imagin how one would go about it. Since you said it its a lot of work i think its not that easy to imagin how to do it. If you have time and motivation i really would look forward to see how you would do it. Thanks and all the best

I know this is from a year ago but didn’t they patch the infinite loop?
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames 4 месяца назад
It's not so much that they patched it and more that they patched the battery issues (long ago) that caused people to make the infinite power loop in the first place. My power loop video briefly addresses this.
@ezhfan

I don't understand the advantage of complicated scheme. Let's assume we have 50 charging and 40 spending. In simple case you have charging rate 50 and spending 40, so it's chargind 10 in total. In complicated case you have 50, spending 41 for load and 6 for charging. The same load but battery charging for 6 instead of 10.

the 1.0 version doesn't work if the power source is smaller than the battery max output...
@AustinKlailaGames
@AustinKlailaGames Год назад
You're correct, it wouldn't. RUST batteries have an 80% charging efficiency. Using the large battery with 100 active usage as an example, it would require a minimum of 125v to remain charged. You can calculate the required charging voltage for any RUST battery by dividing its output by 0.80 (large battery would be 100/0.80 = 125v).
