Theres a better way with one solar panel since the other one was used to let the blocker know when its dark you could sub that for a branch on the one solar panel. IE just branch out the solar input to the blocker and the rest of the power to the battery then battery to blocker blocker to lights.
@mrsmith160
@mrsmith160 3 года назад
You can also beef up this system adding multiple small batteries with combiners and splitters. 1 solar panel split between 2 batteries then combined will output 20 power instead of 10 but this system is only good for automatic for night time as all day usage the baterries will surge from inconsistent power input. No good for high powered devices but you could make a system to turn your furnaces on at night to make you look active whilst offline using the igniters or pop skinned targets up in your shooting floor lol.

A wire from an electrical branch won't connect to a root combiner as it's lost it's "root power source" properties, very annoying
@MrKeysersoze1981
@MrKeysersoze1981 4 месяца назад
you have to run it into a second battery then root combine the two batteries. Its better than wasting 18 electricity potentially. Especially early game using solar panels. Branch will only send a minimum of 2 power. If you try to cheat and send 19 off branch side it wont work because solar panel doesn't always receive 20 power @@interestssnoopy103

Instead of the half wall technique, I prefer to use a branch. The branch side simply dumps power while the power out side goes to the blocker. This way you can fine tune exactly when you want your lights to turn on or off by adjusting the branch.....though I realize you're currently doing a beginner video.

@mephInc

@@Mr_Gorsky Solar panels > root combiner > branch. Branch out > nowhere (dumped power) Power out > block The more power you dump (increase branch) the sooner you're lights will turn on and longer they'll stay on. The inverse applies when decreasing dumped power. I've been using this since they first introduced electricity. I hated that it got so dark before the lights kicked on, so I tweaked things. I'm currently using an inverted version of that (blocker off during the day, on at night) to trigger 12 other separate circuits. Kinda have to when you venture into huge builds and 2600kwatt usage.

You should probably use another branch to take the minimum power from the censor solar panel into the blocker, then have the rest going to another root combiner to put the leftover charge into the battery. I know it doesn’t matter much for this example since you used a small battery and have lots of charge going in, but for a more practical medium/large battery base you don’t need to waste so much charge for the blocker passthrough.

Power (Watts) is a measure of energy per time (Specifically J/s), and hours are a time, so a kwhr is essentially 3.6MJ (Mega Joules) Rust uses rWm (RustWattminutes, not per minute) which is also a measure of energy. A rust minute is 60 rust joules.

the rusticians disagree with you about the north facing placement of the solar panels according to them the sun you see ingame has little to do with the sun that is generating power at your panels. The theory is that the current generating invisible sun is moving east to west along a line going exactly through the middle of the island. that said I have build a very similar circut for my lights and it worked perfectly for quite some time, but after the last minor update about the installed keylocks instantly locking when placed it doesn't hoid for the night anymore. Wether this is a bug or another mechanic that hasn't been explore is yet to be determined.

@@MisterFlak cheers for reply! Yeah true it is very simple. I use my circuit on starter bases just because otherwise I waste a solar panel as just a sensor when I could use it for power.

Add an electrical branch after the root combiner and send the branch power to the block input and the power out to the battery. You charge and detect the light at the same time. Don’t waste your scrap/tech trash for an additional solar panel
