In this weeks video I document the entire process it took me to coat my 2 car garage with Rust-oleum's Rock Solid poly curamine kit, I also used the clear epoxy shield to add extra protection, As this was my first time doing a project like this, many mistakes were made, Hopefully this video will help others avoid the mistakes I made, But overall very happy with the results.

I am getting mine in couple of days. I am going with the rocksolid polucuramine clear coat and not the Epoxy shield. It’s prob double the money so I hope it turns out good. Seeing what you ent through in only using a tiny bit of sand in the clear coat. Also I bought 25lb of decorative chips so hope that will help with preventing bubbles. Oh and I’m def getting spike shoes and I’m gonna epoxy the raised edge since I have the same thing in my garage. Will have the torch on deck ready and watching for bubbles lol.

I’m glad that I found your video. I am applying this product to my dirtbike trailer floor. I bought the 1-car garage kit and it didn’t even cover my 7x16 floor and no coverage on the ramp at all. Rust Oleum is buying me a second kit under a satisfaction warranty, and my worry is rolling over the thin but flaked sections that I already laid down. I saw you rolling over flakes, so I’m relieved. I was so careful to preserve product and didn’t expect that the coverage would be 1/2 of advertised! I even poured the anti skid into the pouch abs mixed, so I wouldn’t leave any on a maxing paddle and bucket. Lol. I hope the second application will cover the first plus the ramp door!

If I can paint over it, I’ll paint the ramp door with some porch paint. As for the rest of the job, I put on a nice coating and all looked great. It has already sucked in at a few spots showing thin, but I can’t justify buying another kit unless Rustoleum wants to pay for it. Lol.

Thanks for sharing this work.

That's the issue 26:35 and how you're essentially over agitating the bag mixture / you really need to gently fold the 2 compounds together instead of shaking it which introduces air into it ie. the bubbles therefrom

I get that everyone has a budget they have to operate around, but your time is worth something too. It always surprises me when folks exert thousands of dollars worth of effort in prep and then use a product like Rustoleum which is the basic equivalent of a 4-5 mil prime coat and with modest traffic will only last 3-5 years max before failing in spots.

I just finished my 2 car garage with a re-coat of this stuff over 12 year old existing Rustoleum Oil based epoxy which held up quite well over the years. I used their re-coat primer first. Can anyone tell me what the paint chips are made of and why you would want to use them besides a decorative look? I don't think they are as strong as the polycuramine?

wonder if the following steps are the better way? 1. use cleaner & degreaser 2. use RockSolid Garage & Concrete Primer 3. use rocksolid polycuramine garage floor coating
@mikedodd9294
@mikedodd9294 2 года назад
@@superdtx1733 that is exactly what I did, used the Rustoleum Primer (not even sure it was RockSolid brand) and it came out excellent, I frankly think unless you are going to rent a diamond grinder the average joe is better off primering first then appling RockSolid. The stuff is just too finicky without it, and even with it you have to work quick. I think their etch cleaner is NOT enough to prevent bubbles and other issues. My overall opinion of the product is its OK, if I did it all over again I would do Shermin Williams garage coating, unfortunately I am in California and like everything else good is not allowed to be sold here.

Ive read that etching is not required. Looks like you got all the tools needed, maybe some painters tape to mask off the garage wall near the bottom as well as paint roller trays and plastic tarp to prevent spills and latex gloves. The prep is 95% of how successful you’re going to be with this process. Failure to properly profile the floor WILL result in this product peeling off in a relatively short period of time. I purchased a home in which the previous home owner clearly rolled this stuff directly onto a smooth finished garage floor. It was already lifting off by the time I closed on the home and continues to do so. I’m having the floor professionally resurfaced as it’s absolute hot garbage to look at.

@@LetsDriftMedia I used to work at Lowes, not Home depot, but they are pretty much the same. We employees really don’t know much about the products unless you ask a specialist in the store which are always very busy. We just get hired and get paid like shit. All we care about is finishing our shift. It can be really stressful because a lot of the time the store is under staffed and it’s hard to learn about every produce within a few days and explain it to customers. That’s why as a customer I try not to rely on store employees because I know that they are not going to give the best advice, sometimes they are helpful, but they are having a hard time and it’s best to rely on your own devices and just use the internet for the research.

What rocksolid doesn’t tell you is that you are to put a coat of primer first, to avoid all those rough patches, second you used the wrong clear, the clear you used was for epoxy not for polycuramine, they have their own clear.

Home depot workers are not experts, they are just everyday individuals who work there. Once in a while you might get soneone who might of had experience in the field, but most are just average joes. About the only question I ever ask is where can I find product "x" ? I never ask for advice about a project I'm working on.

Sorry, watching you run the floor buffer was some funny stuff. I hate to say you’re doing it wrong but you are. You have to tap the little tab at bottom of the handle to lower it. You can’t control anything with it upright. If you tilt the buffer slightly to left, it goes right and visa versa.

Man, they should really explain how to use the tools. What a safety concern here you go rip your arms off! I just did mine 2 days ago. These machines are super easy to use once you actually know how to control them. You lower handle to waist height. You don't fight it to make it move. You actually push down and it will move left and when you lift it moves right almost zero effort as long as you know that. Reason they should explain it to you at the store.

Just no to the upright handle for the buffer device, that is so ignorant. In the Navy, we used these things in bootcamp to keep the barracks clean and also on the ship. It is not rocket surgery. You need to understand how your tools work.
