These sort of repairs are my day to day - I've gone good at doing them through endless repetition. I no longer give them any thought. Pal came in today - I had the back axle off a big sprinter van where the mounts had all corroded away - I was rebuilding the mounts in order to re-fit the axle. No other place would even touch it. Sprinter will go out with that back axle solid as a rock. He was amazed that it was even possible - to me it was just another day at work. I see the same vibe here - just another job, no biggie - that only comes from long experience. People see it & think it is amazing - Chads going "Well this is a doddle... todays a Holiday Day!"

Great explanation. Can't believe no one has sponsored you with some cordless tools. It's a game changer. So many new tools out. Hardly ever plug in a sander, grinder, saw any more. Pretty reasonable if you shop around, in US at least.

Hi Chad, Jolene, Doug, and Fina, this was a very educational day on dealing with sill plates and rust. Some states in the US have inspections however, we do not here in Wisconsin and even the states that do I believe are just mechanical inspections. Nice job everybody as usual!

Enjoy watching your builds, but on the late model stuff, never do rockers (you call them sills) without doing the cab corners. The price is negligible. And , although I like your idea of using be excess rocker to patch over the bottom of the cab corners. It's not enough. If you don't think so, mark this day on the calendar and in 2 years look for rust boils just above the repair. I'd go with cab corners and cut them down so the weld seam is about 8 inches above where the rust hole is, or just below the belt line. Great content. Thank you.

using dually wheel on single wheel front spindles currently on frame will completely change steering geometry. Your stock steering geometry is designed for single wheel that centers on spindle / axle and bearings. Dually wheel move wheel / tire centerline out like 8-10" beyond where it's designed to be putting load centerline of wheel / tire same 8-10" out from where it is with stock single wheel rim it has now. I have a drawing of front axle ball joints showing wheel stud backing plate and how it is off-set out so dually rim tire is centered same place on front spindle as single rim tire on steering axles. Problem is I can't attach it here in RU-vid. :(
