It was after Angelo got whacked that Little Carmine decided to step down. Then after Rusty got whacked, Little Carmine basically retired. His life was so happy after that and even his father told him in a dream how it was the right choice.

The guy who played carmine junior did an excellent job as a dumb smart guy. It’s actually hilarious how he could say meaningless lines that were obvious to everyone in the most satirical ways.

"The fundamental question is, will I be as effective as a boss like my dad was? And I will be, even more so. But until I am, it's going to be hard to verify that I think I'll be more effective."

Rusty was not much of a character. David Chase, and Stevie Van Zandt, were huge fans and Chase used several Four Season’s songs in the soundtrack and even the title of one episode (Big Girls Don’t Cry, S2-E5), so Chase paid homage to Frankie Valli and wrote him a ‘little’ character. As Phil Leotardo called him: “The Mayor of Munchkin Land!”

Time in the can made him think he’s more effective as a boss. But until he can verify it, he won’t know if he’s viable

I was surprised to hear Philly did 20 years in the can. He was very quiet about this.

Rusty absolutely loves Blundetto's Jackie Gleeson impressions. He can't hide it.

I was shocked that Rusty came and went quick. But I guess it was Frankie doing his Jersey Boy thing and couldn't commit to further episodes. When I see hm though, I immediately think, "Grease is the word... it's got groove it's got a meaning."

Frankie Vali would often hang out with Mobsters and have dinners with them. Thats where I’m sure his mannerisms come from.

Carmine jr His dad is the one who taught him to play it dumb and stays away from New York Business as he already have his own Business making money in Miami that even bought him a nice mansion. Almost every mobsters in New York were bound to get whacked by another mobsters or arrested by the FBI, and all for small crumbs of money that can be made elsewhere.

They killed him off way too early in my opinion, but Frankie said if he wasn’t so busy on the road, they would have kept his character around longer.

This was probably a mistake. Carmine as Rusty's puppet was probably better for Tony to work with than Phil who took over after Johnny Sack died and wanted revenge for his 20 years in the can

On Talking Sopranos, Frankie said David Chase initially considered Frankie for the role of Beansie but thought better of it. Chase was right. Paul Herman was great as Beansie and I wouldn't have wanted to see Frankie swearing and getting run over, getting threatened, ending up in a wheelchair, looking week and getting bested by Richie and so on. Rusty was a much more dignified role for Frankie.
