Helpful video. Tried opening awning first time I can hear motor but it didn't want to move. jiggled it a bit and it came out about an inch and stopped again. I suppose if I keep at it, It will likely come out all the way but nervous about it not coming back in if do this on a trip. Short and no room for ladder. What is that gadget from the subaru you are using to help climb up?

Sorry to hear you're having an awning issue. The gadget I keep to get up is a universal "step" that hooks into most automotive door locks - amazon link here amzn.to/3HWky7k

Hi! Love your videos, but not the stylized version so much. I have a question. Have you ever had your awning just not respond electrically? No power? I’ve checked #10 fuse, and it looks fine. I too am @ female owner of an Aktiv! Many thanks

Hi Sydnie, I'm assuming that your ignition key is not in/on (awning won't work if it is). I've had mine get stuck before and had to whack it in the center for it to actually come out, but never no electric whatsoever. If you checked the fuse it may be a loose wire connection somewhere. You may want to contact Carefree (manufacturer) to ask them what you may look at to problem solve. Please let us know what the resolution is so that anybody else having that same problem can learn from your unfortunate situation.

One quick question: does Betty have an exterior light above the passenger door? And if so, is it stock or did you add it? I’m curious because I don’t see it on Hymers I’m looking at.

The light is a solar charged motion sensor light that I glued rare earth magnets to and use when camping - I also use these underneath the vehicle in locations that I'm concerned may have critters which helps deter them. I store them on the dash when driving for charging. Here is an amazon link to the ones I use, but there are lots of choices. amzn.to/2DiSI7s
