After hearing my awning struggle to retract, I decided to lube it up with some 3 and 1 spray oil, let me know in the comments what you use on your awning.
I thought I had the same awning as you but mine does not have those two screw knobs. After watching your video, I checked on Lippert's site to see what they had on awning maintenance and all I could find was on cleaning the awning material. I guess their maintenance schedule is to wait until it breaks and then buy a new one. Good for them, not so much for us. I did print up their instructions on how to manually roll it up in case it fails while out on the road. I'll keep those with the rest of the paperwork in the trailer. I think I'll follow your lead and do the same thing to my awning this weekend. Can't hurt. Thanks.
Most of those motors are slow coming in because your fighting the tension on the piston , if it does go fast , your piston arms are weaker than normal , im only chiming in because im a RV Tech and ive called tech support on them before, thats what they’ve told me …. And a bit of white lithium grease on the gearing goes a long way folks ……
Can you explain where to spray to hit the gearing please? I have cleaned and sprayed the arms and tracks but I haven't taken the motor cover off. Do I need to do that to hit the gears? Thanks in advance for a reply. :)
Mine is way way slower then that from day one. The sales an told me thsts just how they are. So i went to the exact same csmper right next to it andbshowed him he was wrong. But they still had no answer. I am thinking i need to lower the tension of the spring or open the gearbox and lube that up. Or replace the motor or all 3. And mt camper was day one delivered from the factory like that.
If ours was that slow, I think I'd be trying to peek under the end covers where the motor and other end are covered up, give any gears I found a good shot of stuff, then hit every pivot point on both arms and a little shot on the piston arm. That way no moving point is left out for binding up the works.
@@Turtle3863 My cover on the motor end fell off somehow. While searching for a replacement cover I found there is a place to lubricate under there. I watched this video to see what lubricant I need to use. I'll watch a few more to see if I can what to use.
Mine is super slow too, and it’s only been used a few times. Also, I can’t figure out what those knobs are for. When and why do you tighten them? Thanks, Rick
We tip our owning down to keep the sun from shinning in the window, or when we have a light rain. Then you loosen them and let your awning go back up to its original position before bringing it in. 4:16
