We never go over 60. I would not go without a TPMS. We saw 6 blowouts on the road last trip. One I think was so bad life could or may have been lost. People need to know all this . Great job, love the Tiffin AA. I also like the Newmar. I want diesel. Ken 🤠👍

Until you run over something with your trailer or duallys and don’t know the tire is going flat and getting hot and about to dissentegrate. Our friends new fifth wheel burnt to the ground because of this. The TPMS also tells temperature, too.

Unsure of the brand we have Phil, as it came with the coach when we bought it privately. It works similar to yours though, showing pressure & temperature of each tire, about every 5-6 seconds. I have mine just sitting on the dash, but I like the idea of the location you have with yours! Our sensors, are right in the valve stem....unsure if that's good or not, but they work, which is what matters for us. Now, our coach is a 36' (6 tires) which are Michelin, and after looking at the Michelin chart (and sidewall) it states the minimum pressure should be 120 Psi, which seems very high, as we don't often have the rig loaded heavy, especially camping locally (we don't full time) so I've been leaving it at the same as the previous owner, which is 100 Psi front & 110 Psi rear. The tires don't look under inflated, but I'm hoping to find 'advice' in nothing else on if being at 100 Psi on the front is actually low. I did hit the scale soon after buying the unit, but I haven't come across the sheet as of yet. The GVWR on ours is in KG, which is 12,750 or 28,050 lbs, albeit that was with low water, so I'd have to add a little more, but I'm hoping to find out if I'm actually under inflated. Thanks for the video Phil! Another quick question though - what is the maximum pressure of the actual Alcoa Rim's on these coaches? If I'm not mistaken, isn't the inside dual a steel wheel, and only the rear outer an Alcoa like the fronts?

Catching up on some older videos.... Love the bloopers!!! Phil, can you fill/add air to your tires from the built in compressor on the 33aa or do you have a separate unit? We just watched the. San Antonio video... We love that town. Our son is 13 years in the Air Force. He started there and went back to be an MTI for 4 years. Thanks again! Safe travels! Brendan and Lena

Great information. Have you heard of Tyron blowout protection for tires? If you have a blowout the Tyron system keeps the bead of the tire from sucking in to the center of the rim. This allows the sidewall to flatten and stay under the rim edge to keep rubber between the rim and road. Love your videos.

Hey Phil the bloopers are hilarious little bit gives you hell to funny. You know I run the same TPMS system. Glenda and I have been running it for about a year and a half. We have replaced a few batteries in the sensors. So if you don't have any spare batteries you might pick up a half dozen or so. I still run into more folks without TPMS then folks that do. I would say to anyone buying a system don't cheap out buy an eze tire system.

Thanks for this Phil...just noticing this was from September of 2018, and I'm wondering if you would still choose this one, or is there a newer version you would advise us to purchase? We have our '08 Tiffin Phaeton, and will have a trip upcoming this summer, and my thoughts are on tire pressure, thus watching your video. We have the type of TPMS where the sensors are attached inside the tire to the valve stems, unsure of the brand/name. I do believe the batteries in them are starting to fail, as when on the highway it sometimes will not show any pressure/temp, but then after a while will show for a while. Nonetheless, we should be changing out our tires in the next year, so the EZTire setup might be a better option? We do have a lower costs EZtire setup at the moment, for our 'towed' but I'm now thinking a good one, for the whole setup would be a better option! I haven't a clue where one might get each individual corner weighed (portable weigh scale) so I thought you might have some information on that, as apparently we really should be using one, rather than just the front and rear of our coaches? Thanks for the video!

Phil and Stacy, Great video, I just purchased the Tire Minder i10 RV TPMS. We took it out on a maiden voyage from our home in SOCAL to Northern Cal. Currently the temperatures here have been a bit over the top so I'd say we had a great first run. Our rig is a 2002 Itasca Sunova which we have had since 2002, second buyers. The pressure worked the way we expected. The temperature of the tires was a little high, but after watching some RU-vid videos, the pressure is the important part, unless you are north of 200 degrees. Overall, I'm glad we added this to our rig, if for nothing else, piece of mind. Safe travels out there and I hope you can continue to upload videos.

Make it easy. Always Inflate your tires to what's on the sticker. Period. The only reason to check the tire sidewall is be sure it's not less then what's on the sticker. The psi on the sticker is calculated based on the GVWR.
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 5 лет назад
We did that initially but we have a much better ride after we adjusted them based on our exact weights.
@duneattack
@duneattack 4 года назад
I agree this works, and for as long as I've been towing and RV'ing I have filled all my tires to max cold, for safety however, with an over the road size big rig as the new tow vehicle it's difficult to get most of my various air compressors to reach 120psi, which is the max cold pressure on the Michelin Energy XZA, and with my RV and tongue weight both calculated and scale weighed, Michelin says I'm good between 105 and 110, and those 22.5 inch semi tires , so I'm happy to have found this video and taken the guesswork out of my tire inflation routine.

Hello Phil, First, thank your service! Great video, we are convinced this is a must for our new RV. Question, do you find the anti theft sensors inconvenient? We gathered from your video that they are not “flow through” and must be removed to add or release air. Thanks, Cheryl and Joe.(also proud Texans)

Phil actually hated them and found it was easy for them to be stolen anyway. He tossed ours.

You, Me & the RV So what TPMS are you using now? If any. We are thinking it’s a pretty important item for our safety. Are we crazy?
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 5 лет назад
@@CKGinn123 You are not crazy at all. It is very important! Without the TMPS you will need to manually check all your tires before leaving and after they warm. And you wont know if there is a problem brewing. If a tire is over heating to blow you will usually get a warning. You can find ours on our website on our gear page: TodayisSomeday.net

I have not found a CAT truck scale that will let me weigh anything but the full vehicle so you can't isolate the axles weight.
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 5 лет назад
Really? We were able to do the front and then the back axle. We haven't been able to weigh the tires independently though. We would really like to do that. The Escapees will sometimes have a scale at their rallies that is one tire at a time.

Do you have a sensor on the inside rear tires? If so, how'd you get then there.
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 5 лет назад
Yes, the inside tire has a valve that extends to the outboard tire. Easy to install all 10 sensors (6 on the rig and 4 on the Jeep).
@roydavis2242
@roydavis2242 6 лет назад
You don't want to fill all your tanks. The likelihood that you will have them all full is highly unlikely. You want to weigh each axle and adjust that air pressure to the load on it. Buy a Truck tire pressure gauge. I check my manually before we start out and do not completely trust the TPS. They're ok for montering but I have found discrepancies. I retired with 31+ years from the tire manufacturing ind.
@todayissomeday
@todayissomeday 6 лет назад
Thanks for your input Roy. We always appreciate more information being shared. It helps us all learn. Not everyone fills their tanks but we have some boondockers who usually fill up before longer stays. So I guess they should put in the tanks what they would normally. Thanks for watching! Safe travels.

I keep my potable water at least 60% when traveling. Liken to sail boat. Your coach needs the ballast for a firmer grip on the road and for wind. At over 13 feet high this is a no brainer for me. The coach is made to carry this weight. And, it does not drop mpg down with correct psi.

Fill those puppies with Nitrogen, the gas will neither expand nor contract irregardless of temperature fluctuations, thus promoting better tire wear and safer travels.
