Everyone complaining about Weiss dancing or standing in place to much in this, STOP! She doesn't have her scar. This happened a long time before season 1. She isn't fighting as skillfully or confidently as we are used to seeing her, because she's not as skilled and confident. This is a younger, less experienced Weiss.

This video comes in such sharp contrast to the yang short. It shows just how different the two sister relationships are, and neither are wrong. Yang fights a grim to protect her sister and tells Ruby "I will always be there for you". Meanwhile Winter produced grim to help her sister protect herself and tells her " I won't always be there to save you". One is a lot tougher form of love in truth given the situations each big sister faces I can see why each chose the method they did.

Sure, Weiss is amazing, but the main thing I got from this short is WINTER IS REALLY FRICKING POWERFUL.

I love how even Winter realizes the abuse that goes on in their household and is fully supportive of Weiss leaving and wants to make sure she's able to stand on her own before she leaves.

I really like Weiss' old dress in the new animation engine

I just realized something! According to the RWBY wiki Monty described Weiss has everything in life has been decided for her, which is why she is a bit of rebel. This is also shown in her physical appearance as she wears her ponytail to the side, breaking the symmetry with the rest of her outfit. However, here she is wearing her ponytail straight up. I assume this symbolizes how in this point of in her life she hadn't started to take control of her life yet? Anyone have anything to add to this?

Weiss had a horrible season 5 She ran away from home, was a stow away, ship blew up, was captured, held prisoner, lost her money and was severely impaired lmfaoo now she has to go back home from where she left

No matter how many versions they make of _Mirror Mirror_, I will never get tired of it.

Why does everyone get mad at Weiss for spamming glyphs? What about Blake spamming her clones?? Some semblances are more used than others.

A lot of people are making pretty unfair comparisons to Monty's animation. Look, people, the team learned from his work and from working WITH him what they could. Monty had a way of seeing motion and action in a way others didn't, he was unique. You can't expect it to be the same getting further and further away from the time of his death. So accept it or leave it, but quit complaining either way. Try critiquing without mentioning Monty. That aside, an aspect everyone seems to be overlooking is that based on Winter's words, the location, Weiss' outfit and the fact she doesn't yet have a scar this takes place BEFORE the White Trailer. It would make sense that she's NOT as developed into the way of fighting we're used to.

Looking back on this trailer, I love how she fights. She adds a cute flair to her actions, which is something we never see her doing in present-day RWBY, where instead she is much more disciplined (e.g, always worrying about her form). In some ways this echoes her growth in combat prowess, but also shows what the song talks about: her family pressing out all of her individuality.

I like how they show Weiss's OLD outfit in the NEW version of the animation. *Even though I know it's from her past.*

I love how Weiss fights. She's so elegant in her movements, it's like watching a swordswoman ballet

You know a show is good when you see a character you used to absolutely hate end up being one of the characters you love the most.

I REALLY like the way Weiss' character developed. She started off as an annoying, spoiled rich girl. One of the character stereotypes I hate most. But now she's become a lot more likeable and more complex.

You people who complain about the animation is without Monty are so unappreciative of how hard Rooster Teeth RWBY animators are doing their best to keep RWBY alive for you to enjoy. Stop complaining and encourage the animators instead of bringing them down.

The Pros & cons of vol 5 PROS: Plot Vol 5 RWBY HYPE CONS: Waiting School Time

Excuse me, but Qrow kept banging into a window yesterday, I was not ready for this.

Weiss is my favourite character, but i feel like she never wins, she always loses in all Volumes, even though she tries so hard. White Trailer: Get's a scar, only protagonist with a permanent wound from her introduction. Volume 1: Doesn't becomes leader. Volume 2: Defeated by the White Fang member with the Chainsaw on the Train. Volume 3: Defeated in the tag battle of the Vytal Tournament. Volume 4: Has her Heiress status removed. Volume 5: Defeats the Grim but plane crashes anyway killing the pilot. And get's owned by Vernal. Tragic. She never gives up, she always says that she will get better, but i think she is about to snap and that will be a central part of Volume 6 and Volume 7.

I just realized, this takes place before Weiss goes to Beacon to begin with. It's not between volumes 3 and 4, it's before the white trailer. She doesn't have her scar yet. And I guess that was rather obvious because Blake and Yang's character shorts also contain flashbacks to before the trailers, but I saw this one first and I just didn't make the connection until now when I realized Weiss' scar was gone.

I thought the animation in Volume 4 was already good, but *damn*

RWBY has come a long way in terms of story telling, direction, animation, character design, and Weiss.

Considering the fight wasn't supposed to be flashy, this was brilliantly animated. The best parts were the signs of her inexperience, like when she started looking at her weapon with clear wonder, and by FAR the best was the look of genuine fear from when she got overwhelmed. Can't wait.

They nailed it at 2:01! That's the Weiss fighting style I signed up for. I really hope they return to that soon because her new stand-in-place Gandalf shtick is really depressing. I cannot watch another suit of armor pokemon battle.

I understand a lot of people didn't like Vol. 4 but I kind of liked it. After everything that happened in Vol. 3 I'm not surprised how Vol. 4 came out and was not disappointed at all. In a Interview Barb said that Monty had the whole story written out and finished with, so you or I can't say he was not apart Vol. 4 or the upcoming Vols. His vision is there and it's Rooster Teeth bring it to life the best they can. Vol. 4 was a very emotion and should be well praise for its build up in the next Vol. As for the fight scenes, I saw no differences because I was more interested in the character development and where the story was going. I don't believe RWBY lost her charm at all. Its just the beginning and it seems to only get better. I can't wait for the Vol. 5, as a writer myself I can only imagine the multi dictations this next Vol. may bring.

What I really dislike about this vid is that it's going to be almost a whole year until we're able to buy this new badass version of Mirror, Mirror.

I look back at this and realize how much I truly miss Weiss.. I *personally* feel like they made her more summoner than anything else now, and I really wish they didn’t.

Honestly this just shows me that RT can still animate her old fighting style pretty well.. but they just chose not to :(

I'm glad we might be seeing more Winter. I want to see more of the more advanced Huntsmen and Huntresses in the show, to really find the upper limits of the universe.

I just LOVE seeing how far the animation has come since the beginning. Weiss's eye movements, the wind and snow, THE GLOW OF THE FLAMES. GOD I CAN'T WAIT FOR OCTOBER! Bravo RWBY animators, Monty would be so proud.

I feel like Weiss's fighting style changed over the volumes, before she used her glyphs as platforms and actually uses her rapier like how it's supposed to be used but now it's like a glorified wand for summoning and summoning only

guys please notice the effort rooster teeth is putting here. Of course the fights won't be as good as montys however you can't deny the improvement of the season 3 fights and these. Rooster teeth is trying to recuperate the fight quality after montys death and it has steadily gotten alot better (cough) Qrows fight (unconvincing cough)

I don't understand why people don't like the animation or cgi or whatever you call it this is the best looking style of this art period. Other cgi in cartoons and anime don't look anywhere as good as this.

I love how Weiss dances through her fight like a ballerina. My personal headcannon is that she had ballet lessons as a child, then found a way to incorporate it into her fighting style.

Omg yes At first I was scared because she had a centre ponytail, and I always thought of her side ponytail as an act of rebellion against her father. I was also confused as to why she was wearing the old outfit, but, of course, it all made sense once I had watched the entire trailer. And, can I just say, I LOVED IT. Weiss training (probably for one of the first times) was so precious. The way she was moving was very dramatic, which really makes me think that this was the first time she had actually fought something (even if Winter was controlling them) and not just been practicing technique. I can't wait for the other trailers, and Volume 5!!!

To those saying the choreography looked uninteresting, just remember the enemies were meant to be a training exercise and this is Weiss from a time even earlier than before she fought the knight. Hell, the way she looked at her sword it might've been one of the first times she ever used the thing. If her fighting here managed to look more impressive than in the White trailer or later, I'd actually be more disappointed in that.
