Princess Ozma was a character in the Land of Oz series, who was hidden away by the Wizard of Oz, who ruled in her stead. Which fits with Ozpin being the Wizard of Oz in this story, hiding his past as the hero Ozma. Ozpin was probably the name of the last person he possessed, just as Oscar is now.

Let's be fair guys, our fan theories were always going to be wrong. Objectively speaking the episode is one of the better ones due to the amount of information we were given.

I loved this episode it was the best this season if u ask me yea there’s a lot of info dump but it’s needed were at 6 volumes now and I’m surprised some people didn’t like the things they explained it’s like so many people make theories but once they found out there wrong or they were never close they get disappointed for the explanation they do get, like the way they explained the moon it makes perfect sense to me how it broke off like that but other people want something more in depth or something so complicated it’s dumb that’s why I don’t watch theory videos for any type of genre whether it’s movies or cartoons/anime there all pointless I prefer confirmation more than anything else.

Ospin supposedly gave the maidens magic because of the kindness they showed. Given the theme of reincarnation, its possible that the maidens resembled his daughters, and after they showed him kindness he gave them magic

The daughters aren't the maidens, because the maidens had no magic when Oz gave it to them and their children did.

Jinn answered a simple question like "what's he hiding from us" with a lot of detail though. Even if Oz himself couldn't destroy Salem and there was another way to do it, I'd assume Jinn would have told him something like "Find the googly moogly to do the hoodly doodly" or "stab her with the gubnub sword". If she didn't specify anything like that, I'd assume Salem is just completely unkillable.

Not sure if you guys have gone back and watch. But ozpins daughters aren't maidens. They have silver eyes.

So glad you got the vid up! I personally loved the episode because it was it's own story(very similar to a Greek myth which I adore) and I'm a sucker for those stories of a previous world that is gone and faded into mythology or of humanities fall from grace(Atlantis, Adam eve etc). It was beautifully done too. Btw the relics were Sword(destruction) Staff(creation) Crown(choice) Lamp(knowledge)

If we're going by the kingdom symbols in relation to what relic the rest of them have, it's probably: Atlas - scepter/staff (creation) Vacuo - sword (destruction) Vale - crown for choice (there's a kind of laurel crown symbol behind the axes)

What was dude's problem with the moon?

I still dont understand the distrust towards Ozpin, he was sadly dragged i to the whole thing from the gods and js forced to try and carry out his duties that are nearly impossible. New friends and new generations have to be made and Oz cannot spill out everything to every new soul he meets if they can be gone in a flicker.

Ozpin daughters are not the maiden. They are just people who can make magic. Remember what ozpin say in volume 5

I know that a lot of people seem to be seizing on the idea that Ozpin, himself, cannot "destroy" Salem but that someone else can. However, I hope it is not that simplistic and I don't think it is. For one thing, that is an obvious interpretation that would have occurred to Ozpin himself; he has had the lamp for at least a hundred years (based on when he built the academies) and probably longer (based on the fact that he asked one question in the past 100 years, meaning it was not one of the questions we saw him ask), so he must have asked variations of this question to Jinn and received the same answer: Salem is unkillable. This is also, basically, what the gods said: she would walk the Earth until she discovered the value of life and death. So, she can only be killed by herself, through the attainment of a certain kind of wisdom - something unlikely to happen, especially now that she has been changed to part Grimm. A final reason to think that the solution is not as simple as "find someone other than Ozma to kill her" is that Jinn gave a pretty detailed answer to Ruby's question. I don't think, based on that, that Jinn is inclined towards giving very narrow, legalistic answers.

If you take in account human/fanus nature and free will am led to believe that the God of Light gave poor Ozma an impossible task to complete.

And this explains why Salem doesn't care about all those candles in her headquarters. She can just magic them back. Or magic them to stay. No cleanup, no shopping bill, just magic it.

“that doesn’t seem like a good thing” it isn’t supposed to be, that’s why he explains humanity will be judged when they are summoned.

Opinions are a thing but then there's trying too hard to oppose things and nitpicking. So addressing the "issues" with this EP some say. Yeah the minority that's always disappointed in the answers no matter what. There was never going to be a human that destroyed the moon that makes no sense even in the magic world they made and this is way better than a regular asteroid. The writing was pretty dam good to the majority of us, people were whining that Ozpin wasn't painted as a super villain and more so the victim which is nitpicking to be angry about that and call it bad writing. There were hints all over the series about this as Murder of Birds had to put a compilation together for all the people saying there's no story. They always painted Ozpin as being secretive and hiding alot but episode after episode they explained his reasons slowly and then showed the beginning here. They say he's stripped of responsibility but fail to think about what he was being suspected of from the start. Nobody knew what he was hiding he dam sure wasn't planning for the places to fall while protecting them and training people to fight back. So what exactly were they trying to blame him for? Nobody considers we had no crimes to accuse him of in the first place besides "Oh what's he hiding what aren't you saying oh you knew her? Why didn't you say so?" We only had half truths told to us nothing hinting villain or cohort. And finally the QUESTION asked of Djinn (Jin,Jen) was what is OZPIN hiding from us. Of course they didn't explain time frame or origin of faunus, when evolution kicked in again, or the origin of dust. That wasn't the question at all it was what does he know that he doesn't want US to know. There could be extras he didn't seem important enough to hide or mention. Yet the writing is bad because it didn't follow Exactly what they wanted to be the truth. This is half the fandom sadly. Dives deep into making theories but turns on the creators when they get pretty good answers. Anything to sound ahead of it I guess?

i personally do find salem and oz to be grey hero and villains. Salem tried to end her life by jumping into Pools of Grimm while Oz went to Salem after he was warned not to. Salem is definitely making choices on her own now but we have to keep in mind she was changed against her will. She wanted to DIE notbecome a being of pure evil. Oz accepted his task out of personal reasons......plus the god's literally fucked everything up making Salem immortal and leaving her behind when they KNEW humanity would come back. Plus leaving all the grimm behind.....ugh. But honestly everypone is to blame for something right? also...if salem is the wicked witch of the west (oz being the wizard of oz, glynda being glind, ironwood being tinman, qrow being the scarecrow and ruby being dorothy)............maybe all she needs is to have water poured on her to melt XD the pool of the good of light? honestly id scream imagine if normal salem came back and regretted everything she had done omg

I doubt the sword of destruction is Jaune's sword, Oz said it was locked away in Vacuo (sp?) Also the only relic we have no clue where it is would be the Crown of Choice

the "i'll do it" line is similiar to pyrrha saying she will become the fall maiden in volume 3, so it's that much more annoying that ozpin put a girl in a similiar shitty sitiation

So, relic for Choice is crown and we know thats beacons relic... and who at beacon have crown sign... i remmember in one of your reactions from before had joke theory that relic is with Glinda and thats why no one can find relic coz we dont even get #GlimpsOfGlinda something like that... i was waiting for your reaction when u saw relics and that would make u happy since u like Glinda, but i guess u didnt notice it XD... i just found it so funny when i 1st watched episode and i remmembered u guys right away xD

On one hand I feel sympathy for Salem. However, I have questions and issues with this.

I've never been annoyed by reactors before, the middle one is fine but their dissatisfied reaction and witty comments makes me...☹️. When I first saw this episode I was so happy, sure my theories got squished but I enjoy this too! I respect CRWBY more after this for such incredible story

It's weird, this is the most negative I've seen anyone be about this episode.

I speculate that their daughters are still alive and kicking, plus one of them popped out right on Team RWBY's laps unbeknownst to them and also Salem and Ozpin. I think Team RWBY along with Cinder, Watts, Neo and Emerald should form some sort of marriage counselling board. Tyrian, Mercury and Hazel wouldn't have a clue about how to deal with relationship issues, plus Watts is clearly more tactful and diplomatic compared to them. Instead they can be the security along with Nora. Then again I can only dread to imagine how that will go down, it'll be just like Camp Campbell's Quarter Master and his Quarter Sister, or worse. Salem will be bringing up all sorts of garbage on Ozpin (including his photos from the "faculty costume party", even Tyrian would be needing a bucket 🤢). I can only dread to imagine what Oz has on Salem, from Qrow's spying missions (dirty sod 😒). I realise that I am making it sound like an episode of The Jeremy Kyle Show, plus I know daytime television usually sucks anyways in both United Kingdom and [possibly even] the United States. So I think I'd better stop myself, before I end up going too far down the rabbit hole. Moving on... Perhaps the reason why Ozpin himself is unable to kill Salem, as your theory implies of course, is down to the fact that he too like Salem was cursed by the Gods. Someone else might be destined put down Salem for good. Maybe it is Ruby for certain, but Cinder also might decide that she would want to take down Salem for her own selfish reasons. In reference to Salem's discussion with Cinder from the first chapter in Volume 4, the second chapter in Volume 5, and given the fact that Salem has decided to abandon her... the Rogue Fall Maiden may inact a plan of her own to let Ruby soften up Salem, then when the little jewel has played her role and 'Her Majesty' is at her most vulnerable... she'll deliver the Coup De Grace. The only thing that can possibly derail this prediction, is Raven Branwen dying and Yang becoming the Spring Maiden (which will hopefully lead to Yang vs Cinder a.k.a. Goku vs Majin Vegeta 2.0). Regardless of the crazy theories, baseless speculations, and ludicrous predictions, one thing is clear... Cinder still has a role to play in this tale, but for good or for ill? Who can really say? Only time will tell for certain. Also of note: The scene where Salem looks into her reflection in the tea, for some reason reminds me of Zamasu making tea for his master Gowasu in the Future Trunks Saga of Dragon Ball Super. Aside from being in two separate Anime shows, the other differences between them is that Salem is a self proclaimed deity, and Zamasu was an Apprentice Supreme Kai from the 10th Universe, nevertheless he was still a creature born with divine strength. Also Salem to an extent admires mortals for their resourcefulness and cunning, thus she is not above using them for her own amends. Zamasu on the other hand, saw mortals as a repulsive and perpetual blight upon the majesty of the cosmos, he also held his divine bretheren in contempt for not fully recognising mortals as a heinous failure and an agregious threat to all creation, as such he was completely drowned in the belief that he was the only forthright being in existence. Basically what I'm saying is that, in terms of their malevolence and dark innate desires, Salem's evil pales in comparison to that of Zamasu. Salem isn't as arrogant as Zamasu, as she does possess a some fraction of humility, but like Zamasu she is ruthlessly committed to achieving her goal of a grand utopia, yet chooses to do so through more tactful means.

if you see it in a logical way the one that is wrong is ozpin, because in it salem has rason there is no need to call again the gods since even if you try to unify the humans there will always be differences so to invoke the Gods for the trial is practically suicide. also that s had continued as they were ozpin keep calm salem, because if you tell a lot the story that resurfaced as a being that des destruction but for what they showed in this chapter. Salem live quiet in a cabin before ozpn returned and lived quietly next to ozpin, if he killed, but not directly and that was something normal to a certain degree even now we are sinned killing by wars. in other words, ozpin did it all at the time he wanted to take his daughters, because it was after that that change, in fact after this you understand that Salem is not that this against humanity, but that is against ozpin and tries to revenge by destroying everything he does, because if he wanted to destroy humanity I would have done it a long time ago (slowly but surely), because nothing stops her, it was shown that without the gods she is the most powerful remant (easily defeated by ozpin) and has at her disposal grim armies.

The Gods did *NOTHING* wrong. It's all on Humanity, and Salem especially.
