Ozpin: Fairytales stories from your childhood, surely you must remember some of them. Pyrrah: Of course there were the two brothers, the shallow sea, the girl in the tower.....
Yeah, I'm glad I didn't have to wait. Volume 6 was in the process of releasing when I first started watching, and by the time I'd caught up, it was done.
Yes, Cinder's arm is gone and Salem has replaced it with a Grimm alternative. In Volume 4 Salem said Cinder is weak to the Silver Eyes now, this is why. The little bit of Grimm Cinder had on her to syphon Maiden powers presumably reacted to Ruby's first blast and blew off her arm and eye. People sometimes take issue with Yang essentially pulling a gun on her own uncle, but you have to remember, getting shot with an Aura is more like a bean bag round than an actual bullet. Everyone's a super hero. There is grannie backstory, but not yet.
"Salem sais Cinder is weak top silver eyes now, this is why." I do not buy that. Salem's exact words were, if I recall "It is _because_ of the Maiden's power!" and someone says something next episode that makes me think that was completely accurate. Whose gift to humanity was magic? Think on that.
Your reaction to the ending was pretty much the FNDM. But it’s safe to say, GET READY! The next episode sets the tone for not just THIS volume, but sets the stage for a TON of things in the future. And the choices that are made on so many sides both hero’s and villains
@@revolvingzyclon6901the only other reactions I've seen is the reactor groaning as they spot the cliffhanger looming. This was a particularly fine example of its genre, though.
Imagine how we felt at that cliffhanger when this came out XD that was such a bomb drop we had to wait a week for more answers. Now you can just watch them back to back but that week wait I legit remember not being able to talk about anything else and theorizing
Your reaction to the end of the chapter was felt by all. Slight reveal then... end. For those of us watching week by week, it was a rough 7 days. Theories blew up around this time. Mainly it was "What did Ozpin do to Salem?". No spoilers for the next chapter, you'll find out. Hope you enjoyed the next chapter! No spoilers FNDM... PLEASE!
Her (Cinder) arm is grimm, when she took the bug in her to absorb Amber the maiden she got her powers from. Which was why Ruby's eyes affected her on Beacon tower.
Cinder only got the Grimm arm after Beacon. You can see several times that she has normal arms before Beacon tower. Cinder's left arm is the Grimm one. Cinder had to have had a bug in each arm. She could not have known which hand she could use in the middle of a fight to steal the Maiden's power. Way back when she tried to steal the Maiden's power, she used her right hand and her right eye lit up with Maiden powers. Bug popped out, and started the process. It was interrupted, but the bug transferred what it had and died, creating the marking on Cinder's back. So in Beacon, Cinder still had a bug in her left arm, connected to her left eye. Which is why Ruby was able to hurt her on top of Beacon tower with he silver eyes. She burned the bug out of Cinder, which took her eye and arm.
@@highlander31527 I watched the show, and didn't require any explanation. Cinder used the bug to draw Ambers powers from her which took place before the Fall of Beacon, the bug was still in her which is the only way it could affect Cinder at all. The bug is still in Cinder as it is now augmenting her now missing arm, and why Salem is able to inflict pain on her through her dominion over the grimm. I am sorry if this is coming off as a bark, but it is a little irritating when people try and re-explain the show to me like I didn't watch or understand it.
@@highlander31527 I don't think Cinder had the Grimm bug until she took Amber's power. She put a white glove on right before the bug popped out and started stealing the power and after the connection was severed the glove vanished.
I'm glad you're such an expert. Since Cinder's right side was facing Ruby on top of the tower when the silver eyes were activated, it only makes sense that her left arm and left eye were affected, since, you know, the bug was in her right arm and the silver eyes only affect Grimm. Perfect sense to burn the arm and eye with no Grimm bug that is blocked by Cinder's body from the blast You're not as smart as you think you are.
@@highlander31527 I never claimed I was an expert, nor am I going to go back and forth with you over it while you spoil information about the show that the couple who are reacting to this who haven't reached that part of the show to know that to feed your narcissism. Remember, you decided to comment to try and correct me like I haven't watched the show, or understood what transpired.
It's more of ignorance really tbh. Adam is a very tragic character and you don't have to like him to recognize his reasons for doing what he does and how he fell into madness.
Fun fact "the girl in the tower" is one of the fairytales Pyrrha named back in volume 3. By the way you can find 6 RWBY fairytales on the Rooster Teeth RU-vid channel, amongst them "the girl in the tower", after you finished volume 6 you may want to check them out.
"Little Miss Muffet, sat on a tuffet, eating her curds and whey, along came a spider, who sat down beside her, and frightened Miss Muffet away." Such a simple nursery rhyme, yet it birthed a fun side character, especially when they flip it on its head.
“It can sense your trepidation. You must make IT fear YOU” - Salem’s little line to Cinder in volume 4 before she asked her again if she killed Ozpin. Salem is referring to the Shadow Hand, teaching Cinder how to control it. It’s a replacement for her original arm after Ruby shot her full of Silver Eye in volume 3
We're not talking about falling in love, we're talking about someone betraying someone to go to the enemy after they've had military secrets shared with them. It very much makes sense to be a little more cautious about who you give military secrets to once you've had several traitors.
I remember yelling Kerry and Miles' names in frustration when this episode originally aired. Not out of hostility, but to leave us for a WEEK on that cliffhanger?! Those cheeky buggers.
This is measured trust. Just in this life time, Ozpin trusted Leo and Raven. Now there’s an untrustworthy woman running around with magic and the power of maiden where they’re also unable to seal the relic away because Raven isn’t around to close the gate. And Leo being in Salem’s pocket having access to all of their plans and being able to feed that info to Salem. Trust is measured, especially with 1000 years of experience with betrayal. You give trust the more people earn it. Cause it’s not just Ozpin’s feelings on the line, it’s the fate of the world. Now if Qrow felt a type of way about this, I’d understand it more since he’s been loyal and devoted for years. But this is just my thoughts up to this episode, they change next episode lol 😂
A little reminder here; when Qrow told them the story of the two brothers and the relics to the group in past chapter, he said that if people found out about the relics, then people as a whole would see that as powerful weapons and great wars would be fought for control over them. They are powerful forces in the world of remnant, created by the gods themselves as the story goes, so ozpins predecessor built the academies around them and trained generations of huntsman, both to fight grimm and protect the world, but also guard and defend the relics. Ozpin, by this point, has faced quite a few betrayals, I would assume; people he trusted that had tried to take the relics for themselves, or people like Leo, who saw what they were defending them from and chose to betray him to save their own skin. When he says he has reasons for the secrets he keeps, he is backed by personal experience, which is why his inner circle is so small, from Qrow and glynda to general ironwood. He doesn't distrust humanity or Ruby and her team, he is simply a cautious and paranoid individual.
Volume 3, Chapter 6. Ozpin: What are your favorite fairy tales? Pyrrha: I'm sorry? Ozpin: Stories from your childhood. Pyrrha: Of course. Well, there's "The Two Brothers", "The Shallow Sea", "The Girl in the Tower". Salem is the girl in the tower. We get to see the fairy tale. Once upon a time indeed.
and personal headcanon; I prefer to believe the reason Adam is exhausted and staggering, dropping his mask, is because he tried to retreat with Hazel & Mercury and they beat the sh*t out of him.
On the Adam short- Blake said he didn't start off like this, he seemed to truly believe in the cause at least in the beginning where he said 'time we get what we deserve' and through the enabling and deeper he fell into his own personal spite feeling thing he did was justified, he started started to put on a metaphorical mask manipulating and gaslighting those around him who would attempt to question his more and more messed up and selfish actions and making them believe that all of this was necessary the exact opposite of what the white Fang was originally and eventually just made all about himself his power, his vengeance instead of what's good for the faunas signified by the end line of 'time to get what I deserved' Not that I'm justifying the character, just putting out he's a well written to be a bastard of a character who was you were supposed to hate and disagree with. Unfortunately some of the fandom fell for the metaphorical mask... And believe the writer's purposely ruin him not realizing he was always like that.
After seeing Adam's short a few times now and the head's up on last week's video about your reaction to it appearing here, I started thinking about it more. At the end of the short, he drops his mask and keeps walking, or stumbling, down the path. Yet in the first chapter of Volume 6 he has his mask. That always felt weird to me, but I never held onto it. Watching your reaction, which was great by the way, it clicked for me: Adam's short should be viewed between chapters 1 and 2 since it takes place during [spoiler timeframe, resolved after watching Volume 6]. Your reaction to the cliffhanger is priceless! I love your breakdown of the whole distrust issue. It's nice to see people who are watching it for the first time understand what's happening immediately. Your understanding and sympathy surrounding the situation is refreshing. Though I think being adults with some life experience helps with that. 😉 All that said... hooo boy. You're about to see exactly what Ozpin was hiding...
26:09 Everyone has that reaction after such a massive bomb drop. Literally everyone. And when you see the next episode, you’ll understand why it’s so important for the storyline.
Yeeeeaaah, that cliffhanger always gets everyone lol. The next episode is so fantastic. Also, yes Cinder's arm is Grimm. When she put on the glove, back when she was stealing the previous fall maiden's power, the Grimm in the glove fused itself with Cinder and essentially made her at least part Grimm.
I loooove the entire scene of RWBY confronting Oz. The way the tension builds as our current perception of Oz is slowly picked apart and unraveled until all trust is gone is just SO good. And the way WBY jump to defend Ruby without hesitation is so perfect to me.
You need to take into account how MANY incarnations Ozpin had, how many years he lives already and how many betrayals he could suffer. He had time to learn to dose important informations when it's due. He can't go solo, Salem can - to defend against her he need the humanity united. Ozpin showed already many times he trusts team he's with, but he also know they aren't fully mature yet and might not be able to deal with everything he knows. Plus, he is still human, he is still ashamed of some things from his past and isn't infallible either. So he makes mistakes. And food for thought - what really is a mistake? Was trusting Raven for example a mistake? She did a lot for him and his mission earlier, same as Lionheart, but later left/betrayed him - how to weight that?
The genie’s name is actually Jinn. The mock applause for Adam to get a rise out of Bethany is pretty entertaining. Oh, you think waiting a week for the next installment is cruelty, do you? You haven’t had to sit in a hiatus yet…. Also the next episode - will change your entire outlook on the situation on the show.
Yes we do feel y’all’s pain, especially those of us who had to wait in real time for the next episode after this to drop. There was so So SO much speculation and theories until all was revealed. It was….just so beautiful….terrifying to be sure, but Beautiful nonetheless… 🫡 See you next time, and remember, “Buckle up Buttercups!” This is gonna be a wild and bumpy ride.
I've been waiting soo long for that moment, that cliff hangar and your disappointment was worth the wait, you're about to get lots thrown at you, something important to remember is Oz's reincarnations, after all his own quote in a rwby book (the infinite man) "I'm just a man and not a very good one" Can't wait for the next big moment
Furthermore, think about the first name the members of team rwby called out when they entered the white void. I can't say for certain, but it seems to me that it would imply the romantic alignments between them.
SIX-THREE, SIX-THREE, SIX-THREE!!!!!! Yep, it is cruelty. That end is SUCH a tease. Two quick notes: 1: It's interesting that Sienna (the former leader) went for disable strikes, like ice-ing the gun, chain around neck, or whips across stomach. Meanwhile Adam went for attacks that would be immediately lethal if it wasn't for aura, and then tried to finish one off until she called him forward. 2: When the story first starts, the team are looking for their partners first, despite the fact that in two cases, their sisters are "lost" as well. Shows great closeness between Blake/Yang and Ruby/Weiss.
You're right, when Yang asked for no more lies, Ozpin could have just said "no". For the reasons he gives here. Offer to talk about any safer topic. It risks losing their support, but this just postpones all that.
Technically he didn't directly lie about the relic, although he did deliberately phrase things to mislead by omission. "You won't be able to use the relic right now"... because you don't know the password. "The questions were used before I sealed it away"... but that was long enough ago that some of the questions came off cooldown.
@@Mirality technically, yes, but you don't build any kind of partnership on 'technically'. Yang wanted transparency to agree to keep risking life and limb (literally). That the lamp has 2 questions left absolutely affects what they need to do with it. The bit about the lamp attracting Grimm I might write off as an error in good faith. If their luck was a little better it wouldn't have made any difference. Hiding the status of the lamp, for no reason than to protect his other secrets, was done in bad faith.
He didn't want them to use the lamp anyway, for that purpose it didn't matter if there were any questions left or not. Note that everyone else in the room immediately jumped to wanting to use them immediately as soon as they knew about it, so he had to quickly dissuade them. Ultimately, the questions were indeed wasted, in that they only revealed information he already knew. Imagine if they were able to ask a good question instead, by saving them until they really needed it.
@@Mirality "for that purpose it didn't matter" well, sure, but that's Oz's selfish purpose. Yang's purpose was to have him stop using the kids as cannon-fodder, giving them only what he thinks will manage their morale best. He could have said there were questions left, but refused to say how to activate the lamp. He would have had to have the argument about that. There's a small risk the kids would have given up, but he wouldn't have dug himself this deeper hole, where they're actually ripping all their secrets from him.
Oh, totally. There's definitely a lot of things he could have done better, to head off a lot of misunderstandings. But as he said himself, he's been betrayed before, and there's a reason for his patterns of behaviour. Too many people like to claim that a flawed character is bad writing, when it's just the opposite. (To be clear, I'm not saying that you were one of them.)
This episode is so great, and the next one is even better! Be prepared for an epic lore dump. Maria is one of my favorite characters. “I am not defenseless! I’m just a bit hard of hearing, and blind without my eyes…which are in desperate need of repair. Ok I’m starting to see your point.” I can’t wait for you to see more of her.
Sienna’s variation on a rope dart is great. I understand why they didn’t do it, but I wish we could have seen more of Sienna fighting. Rope Darts are a very formidable weapon.
This is why we tell reactors to react to episodes 2 and 3 because of the MAJOR lore drop incoming. Also this is EXACTLY how we all felt when this released because with RWBY and the way they released episodes we had to wait weekly for each one, so you can see our agony with this episode especially since it ended like that and we had to wait a whole week for the lore.
Fun Facts Fact 1: The "Wanted" poster with the assailants from the Battle of Haven has Cinder still in her Volume 1-3 design, indicating that there are no public images of her following the Battle of Beacon. Fact 2: Cinder's images of the Beacon students are all from their matches in the Vytal Festival tournament, which were broadcast live. Fact 3: Nora expresses relief that the group will finally be able to leave the house in Mistral. This is an acknowledgment of one of the most common criticisms of the previous volume, that the heroes saw very little action and mostly stayed in the house. Fact 4: At the 11:00 mark, the Spanish captions for the episode do not match the audio. The captions instead read: "Funcionarios informan que el virus no esta en el aire, pero puede ser transferido por contacto con la sangre y otros fluidos corporales." ("Authorities report that the virus is not airborne, but can be transmited by contact with blood and other bodily fluids.") Fact 5: Nora was originally going to tell Blake everything she needed to know with some whiteboards on the train, but they decided to just show the house where things are explained. Fact 6: The footsteps in the snow were made using nulls in After Effects.
Here it comes, one of the most important episodes in the whole series. You had the same reaction i had too when this episode ended 😂. Cant wait for you to see the truth
Best cliffhanger reaction yet XD Truly the FNDM has its claws in you :D Your reasonings and explanations are very interesting takes indeed and remember what you said after this episode. Prepare yourself for what's to come!
Jinn, jinni and genies aren't necessarily automatically good or evil. It depends on their personalities. In their original mythology they're spirits of smoke and fire so as a result they can be however they choose to be. As compared to angels who are spirits of pure light therefore they can't rebel against or disobey the God of Abraham, they can only be good. But in the Solomonic legends King Solomon released all of the jinn who repented before the God of Abraham so only the more wicked ones remain in the world trapped in objects. So it depends on the writer, but jinn, jinni and genies can have their own wills and agendas and usually only have to comply with the wording of their summoners wishes but necessarily the intent.
Even though Yang was right to call Ozpin on omitting the detail of the relics attracting the Grimm, but I like how Ruby handled it by saying basically not right now. Ruby was right that they had bigger things to take care of; even though that detail was extremely important. The problem Oz has though is for so many years he with held information, with good reason, and that’s a hard habit to break.
Awesome! This volume is where I stopped at years ago. It's so exciting to revisit it with you guys and finally get to experience the later ones! I don't know if I'd fit with either of your channels but I'd love if you guys checked out PopCross Studios's Multiverse Tales series here on RU-vid. His work is top-notch, with gorgeous art and wonderfully written characters, filled with pop culture nods and crossovers. You two would love it!
The problem with Ozpin in my opinion is that he has lived way too long like a normal person would put themselves out there because there life is short but Ozpin has so his long experience has made him jaded
The problem with this episode! Was that this one felt far Too Late! We’ve long since established that Adam was the villain. And the fact that Season 2 & 3 didn’t really involve him, was what held back the rest of this volume. So it’s understandable what Beth feels was what everyone felt like when this episode dropped.
*Ken:* Oh Wow! 😲 *Bethany:* _Oh No!_ 😟 [Episode ends] *Both:* _Oh _*_What!?_* 😫 Also, note specifically the phrasing Ozpin used: "Im afraid you won't be able to ask it anything at the moment." [Which was correct, since they didn't know how to call out Jinn with her name] "The questions were already used before I sealed it away." [The questions recharge after 100 years, so if they were used over 100 years ago, they still would have recharged in the interval.] Incomplete information to be sure, which they *did* warn them about, but not explicit falsehoods.
Just like Blake said, Ruby is the embodiment of the word purity. If Ruby ends up not trusting you, you know you messed up big time. Also, I like the way Qrow backed off and let the kids do what they think is right. I'm pretty sure he's not 100% on the kids' side because he's known Oz for longer and probably respects his secretive nature. But he is also probably starting to not be 100% on Oz' side considering how weird he's been acting. Letting things happen without his input really seemed like the best he could have done.
- "Cinder almost dies a lot" Now if she would only finish the job... 😈 - Cinder's arm isn't charred, it's made of Grimm-stuff. Ruby apparently destroyed her old arm at the end of Volume 3 (along with her eye) and part of her long recuperation was due to Salem giving her a replacement. - look at Cinder's current outfit, then rewatch the opening and you'll get a couple hints of what's coming up in future eps - She's not eating yogurt, I believe that's curds and whey. 😏 - yup, she's Little Miss Muffet. And here she's a gangboss. - I'm pretty sure we *all* had that reaction when the credits rolled. 😋 And those of us watch as they came out had no choice but to wait for the next ep. 😵
