RWC2021 Match Highlights: France v England 

Well done England! France always bring it, and boy did they come close today!! Commiserations to the French, congratulations to the unstoppable Red Roses!

That was gritty. Big up both teams for showing what physical test match rugby is about.

Commiserations to France, they put up a really tough fight. Wishing a speedy recovery to Laure Sansus and Romane Menager. Congratulations to the Red Roses for their hard fought win. This was truly le crunch.

Missed the game but glad for the highlights. Wow, what a battle between both teams. Red roses are 2 for 2 and still unbeaten.

Well done, ladies, That was a hard fought victory. There are lessons to be learned from that game, though - keep learning those, and you'll go onwards and upwards. Great game to watch!

Two top womens teams and looking at the crowd it’s a shame that the NZ public aren’t supporting their World Cup in larger numbers.

A proper test match well played both teams and it was in doubt until the end. But why didn't England kick the early penalties?

I don’t know if it’s just me, but I’ve been experiencing feedback and clicks from the audio from World Rugby’s highlight videos. It doesn’t happen on any other channels or videos, and I’ve run tests to make sure my speakers aren’t busted. But it isn’t on my end, is it something to do with the files World Rugby are uploading, or an issue with the editing software they’re using?

That scarlet girl is a superb player. The whole team is excellent in fact.

First on the team sheet - Alex Matthews, then Aldcroft, and McDonald. Packer gave away three penalties in critical attacking positions (passion doesn't always make up for a failure to remember the laws of the game. And anyway, Sadia K. is an all-round better player.) Ward was terrific, as usual - but Botterman is a bit of a liability - don't we have any other props? Abby Dow must start.

Need to have a word with Botterman, she conceded two penalties one leading to the French try, and reacted to a French push in the back leading to a dust up. I know she is a impact player, but that is not the kind of impact needed.

Tough game. Not pretty, two very strong defensive sides. Both of them will wake up tomorrow knowing they were in a Crunch match.

Good tough game. Though ref was very generous towards the French for their constant infringements - but made the game exciting.

Super French try, this was always going to be a hard win for England.

French try was illegal, Here is the rule. Only the ball carrier can be tackled by an opposing player. A tackle occurs when the ball carrier is held by one or more opponents and is brought to ground, i.e. has one or both knees on the ground, is sitting on the ground or is on top of another player who is on the ground. To maintain the continuity of the game, the ball carrier must release the ball immediately after the tackle, the tackler must release the ball carrier and both players must roll away from the ball. This allows other players to come in and contest for the ball, thereby starting a new phase of play. French player was tackled to the ground, but didn't release the ball, rather she got off her knees and the elbow of her ball carrying hand and passed it to her own player.

These highlights are very poor considering this is the biggest competition in woman’s world rugby 🤷🏻‍♂️. Come on social media people get your act together please 🙏

Where’s the crowd?

I was very disappointed with this match. This hyped to be probably the best in the tournament, but they was no French flair and barely any English power game. France lost two starters early and England didn't take advantage. Now I can understand why Caroline all those mis-kicks in the semis, she was misfiring against England, too 😔

RWC 2021 but it's women's and not called women's RWC, AND Rugby LEAGUE WC going on at the same time, with the proper WC happening next year in France, this is too confusing.

Very disappointed with England tbh though respect to France for their defensive effort which was awesome, especially with the loss of 2 of their best players. All the possession they had and they could only score one try, sad as the orange one says. In my mind this shows the errors that Middleton has made in choosing the squad and teams, errors he can get away with against smaller nations because they are nowhere near England in terms of fitness and training. For instance I would always start Popps at 8 but Sarah Hunter is an untouchable (controversial I know). He didn't trust Lucy Packer enough to play when something else was needed. Hmm I wonder if there was another scrum half that would have been ideal. Why play a scrum half on the wing who doesn't play regularly and isn't as positionally aware as someone who plays there week in week out.

England need to seriously improve their decision making to turn territory into points, this is likely to be a rerun for the final and France are getting closer and closer to beating them.
