Ry is great and has been so for a very long time. I will never forget his jamming with some of us at Reed College in 1967, when he attended college there for a year. Playing with Ry makes you feel like someone has attached strings to your fingers when you play and is gently guiding you and lifting you up, infusing you with energy, bringing you inside the music. He is a phenomenon. I only wish that before I die I could play music with him just one more time.
As kids going to movies..and southern comfort just this lull and forboding string sound came across this backwater scene...it just held you in place like you lost somewhere in time and you had walk it...never forget that talent and enigma combined together... basically just to scare the bejeepers out o ya...great man and humble and grounded... little sister is my favorite song..the other stuff/music is too weird for me..but he's the best slide guitarist I have ever heard in my life man...way kewl..🤔 God bless ry cooder...I thought no we were all blessed...to hear such a man...
This man had such an influence on my dad who played in bands when he was younger, one of his old bands, who he still is old friends with made it quite big on the blues scene. I can see where my dad got his playing style from. I just bought him a Ry Cooder chicken skin music t-shirt for his birthday and he turned up today wearing it. I felt so proud that he's never changed his style in my whole life. I can't imagine him in anything other than what he wears. My friends used to take the piss out of me for it as a teenager but with the benefit of hindsight I now see he was just way cooler than their dads and I regret horribly not letting him teach me to play guitar. I'd do anything for that now or even just him to play something slow by Clapton and me sing. It's not gonna happen but it's a lovely dream of mine
@@chrisweir2544 I've floated the idea with him a couple of times, he's got reynauds syndrome now so he wouldn't be able to teach me but he could play a little bit I suppose and I could sing. I'm really hoping this year he'll come to ours for Christmas and I think I'll ask him to bring one of his guitars with him. Maybe one acoustic for me to sing to and an electric one for him to play how he likes to
Melody going on and the slider on guitar picked up rhythem and the beat..phenomenal..what a sensational singer and guitar player and that's Ry Cooder..thank you U Tube
Maybe with the aid of Ry's 3-D Glasses it helps to give a much clearer picture as to why he is so great. Always loving his energy and talent. One of the best !
I was at a show Buckwheat did for a corporation in New Orleans in May 2001, the company rented the aquarium for the night and had a great meal. The band played right in the middle of place outside. The concert went on for over an hour, it was amazing. I had heard Buckwheat on the radio and saw him on TV but they did rock and roll, and anything else you can name. The guitarist for the band was as good as it gets and all the band was. Never was at a concert like that, there was no barrier between the band and the people, they were as good as any live band anywhere. RIP peace indeed, he made a lot of fans that night there were a bunch of people, free food, booze music. I don't know what it cost to put on the whole thing but it must have been mind blowing.
Thank you so much for your love and support, It gives me great joy to learn that our hard working is paying off and there’re lots of people out there that actually love what I do. God bless you.......

My first introduction to Flaco Jimenez came via Chicken Skin Music. Been a fan ever since. Ry does great version of Goodnight Irene amongst others of course!
If the audience is enjoying that just a half as much as Ry is they're having a really, really good time. His his gigs were always feel good. Say 'were' because I haven't seen him around much lately.

Is that Stanley Doral Jr. playing the accordion ? Otherwise known by his stage -name , " Buckwheat Zydeco " ...... .... Caught him live twice ... Once in Clearwater , Fla. and once in Ellsworth , Maine ... He rocks !
ry cooder grabó con los rolling stones.. un par de temas del album exile on main st ( all down the line ).. es uno de los mas grandes de la historia sde la guitarra.
I was born 1956, so I know a lot of real good music-unfortunately a lot of young people these days listen to total crap, and have no idea what is good stuff, and what is rubbish. Somehow stupidity permeates all of the young, and they no longer understand that intelligence is bound intellect.
De très bons musiciens avec un bon arrangement. Je préfère cet arrangement à l'original de Fats Domino, ce qui est très rare. Very good musicians with a good arrangement. Wow !
This fella is an open conduit for the the pinnacle of groove. This is what Plato was talking about on the back wall of the cave. I don’t think the attendees truly realize how nuanced and brilliant this performance is and that is what makes it so great.
I died last night so I can't hear the music just the lyrics and I need a pair of those glasses to minimize the glare of all those flames. God bless you drive home safely we want to see you next year.
Ry is still jamming just as he was 50 years ago!!!!! What an incredible slide player and talented musician. A true "musicologist/preservationist" in every sense of the word. Thank you Ry for sharing these classic songs from another era. Without your passion for sharing classic American (And Cuban) music, many of these tunes would have been forgotten through the years. Also,is that Clifton Chenier on accordion?
Totally Awesome..Ry Cooder got it going on..what a legend with his slider on guitar and voice to bring out the latest of what's going on in his remarkable singing..Love the socks and shoes..r u with me?
