Ronnie O'Sullivan on the Late Late Show on RTÉ 1 talking to Ryan Tubridy about snooker amongst other topics on 12/05/2023. Another Ronnie interview ~ • Ronnie O'Sullivan on I... Ken Doherty on Nationwide ~ • Ken Doherty - RTÉ Nati...
Lovely interview, Ronny opening up is an amazing insight into the mental side of snooker. Nice that Ryan gave him the time to speak without to many interuptions. Sign of a good host.
Ronnie talked in such a humble way about his accomplishments in snooker. He may try to down play things a bit, but there is not one bit of doubt in my mind that he IS the GOAT!!! I am certainly hoping he can win one more world title and make one more 147 at The Crucible. Cheers Ronnie. 👍❤
I have watched him play for over 20 years and I can tell you that he changes his attitude daily. One day he’s humble, the next he’s arrogant. He has been awful in interviews and incredibly disrespectful (the china interview a number of years back). When he’s in a good mood, he’s very likeable but most of the time he’s difficult.
He’s not humble when he asked what the 147 prize money is when he’s pitted one black. Or when he’s says the players now are no good, or when he shakes hands mid match, or when he has an excuse every time he loses instead of admitting he’s been beat, or when he says he just plays now to pay his kids school fees.
@@MrSmid888 I just said he spoke about things humbly and it was in this interview. I realize Ronnie's mood can swing from one extreme to the other very quickly, but such is The Rocket. I still like him very much and think he is the greatest player to ever hold a snooker cue.
What's so great about snooker, isn't just that it's a fabulous game, but also the personalities of the champions... Davis, Hendry, Ronnie, and all the rest... All just good, honest people, entertaining, engaging, funny, and super super talented.
What a great interview! No one that famous ever talks so openly about themselves! He’s the best ! And to have gone through so much makes his accomplishments all the more amazing
He’s quite a shy man doesn’t like the limelight, just finished his book unbreakable. He’s a all round good egg and snooker genius even though he doesn’t say so himself
Ronnie is an inspiration in so many ways. The fact he's so self reflective when he talks about his life is extraordinary, as well as being the greatest of all time, without doubt
Delusional if you think he was the greatest, he was good for 30% of his career. Stephen Hendry at his peak im talking 5 to 10 year peak playing in the same era as Ronnies 5 to 10 year peak Hendry dominates and OSullivan knows it!!!
@williammurphyslaw whatever even though Ronnie and to head and hendry may win a lot but his peak Ronnie was off the rail so hard say. Ronnie is goat to many for his longevity something hendry will never take away and Ronnie has all records bar tied on the worlds one
@@williammurphyslawhe throwing out whatever though that's your view and all hypothetical Ronnie has all bar 1 -2 records I know u may hate him but fact
@@williammurphyslaw I get what you're saying, I think even Ronnie refers to it here, he should have dominated an era, but on their best day, there is nobody in the world that could beat Ronnie. He is completely untouchable in terms of skill and talent.
Being in the Crucible and watching this man play is on the bucket list for me. Hope I can make it before he retires. Huge respect, not only for his game but for him as a person in general.
If you haven't done it by now, you never will. Doesn't sound like there's any urgency there. He's retiring in the next 2-3 years so you'd better get a move on!
@@The_Professor26 haha, fair enough. I don't live in the UK and up till very recently I could not even travel to the UK. So it's not just a matter of want. There are constraints 😄 Still very hopeful I could make it though. Fingers crossed
Agree with Ronnie that he's 2/3 out of 10 (which will beat most people), or 10/10. At 10/10, Ronnie is better than anyone, and is something to behold. Love watching him play, will be a while before there's another like him. One of the most natural sportsman I've seen, while I like watching him, my overriding hope is that he's happy. Hope I can watch him for many years.
Absolutely love this fella.. If wasn't for he's mad 7 years as a youngsters he would be sitting on 11 world titles at this point. 16-14 down to Selby. Greatest 3 frames I've ever seen!!!
both those semi finals that year were arguably the most thrilling moments in all of sports ive ever seen, smack bang in the middle of covid too with no crowds which actually heightened the tension and drama even more in a strange way, i will never forget that day !!!
Stayed up till 3 AM in India... I had my eyes closed before every shot in those 3 frames, and the sound of pots would inform me that his breaks were continuing. One of the most memorable sporting events in my life.
Because its Snooker he’s overlooked in the world of professional sport. When it comes to natural talent, Ronnie possess an ability that is extremely rare indeed. He is a genius. When he’s playing at his best it’s like watching an artist at work.
Ronnie you are a phenomenon that can never be repeated in the past at present or in the future! We love you , we respect you , we miss you!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ronnie is a true star. Seems like you can have a proper laugh and banter with him if you just met out and about . Not many people famous or not can manage that
Ronnie IS the greatest snooker player of all time! His overall record is unmatched, more major titles than anyone else, highest number of century breaks (by a country mile) and maximum breaks, his incredible longevity, his phenomenal cueing and potting skills all done at blinding speed (right or left handed). He’s an entertainer, has unbelievable charisma, and even though he’s done some forbidden things during his career, he is the absolute definition of a snooker genius! No question about it, the majority of snooker fans all over the world watch the game mainly BECAUSE of Ronnie!
Agree someone told but didn't play peak hendrybif he did hendry smashes him but didn't want hear about longevity and Ronnie wasn't best of health then even hendry says it's Ronnie anyway both have respect for each other but some people talking crap hendry smashes Ronnie in peak maybe wins more than others vs him but Ronnie has more talent
Ronnie is so humble and has had to go through turbulent times growing up. He is so very talented and has amazing entertainment skills. We will not have another Ronnie again. So inspirational and very honest . Best Sportsman ever
I can't tell you how much I love Snooker because of Ronnie, the technical, methodical approach and quite stoic nature of his game is awesome. Not putting him on a pedestal, I have 4 or 5 other favorites with their own styles. SNOOKER IS THE KING OF BILLIARDS.
Ronnie is so humble, and he walks the fine one perfectly within confident and cocky. A truly wonderful man and talent. I don’t think there’s many argument over who is the goat.
This was a superb interview with Ronnie and interesting to hear the other side of his life the ups and downs, it is always a pleasure to watch him play and have so much respect for him good luck Ronnie hope you continue to be successful and for you and your family good luck .. very enjoyable watch thanks.
For those interested: Stephen Hendry and Ronnie did a podcast/youtube vid together during covid. Fascinating to see how much they respect each other and a great insight into the so called 'elite mentality'.
I'm a Stephen Hendry fan down to my bones and always hated Ronnie. I was 10 when Hendry won his first title and he was my absolute hero! I disliked Ronnie so much because he was Hendry's nemesis and only player ever to really challenge him. I stumbled upon those two RU-vid videos between them during lockdown and was blown away. I'd always just assumed that they hated each other. It was fascinating to see that they are genuinely good friends now and hold nothing but huge respect and admiration for one another. It's amazing to see this from the two greatest players ever in the sport. I love that they both genuinely regard the other as being the greatest too.
I love when Ronnie says he can't master snooker: He played and won more championships than anybody else and still believes that... That's a humble champion
Amazingingly honest interview. To see Ronnie just as a person, amazing...It helps to understand how and what your life has been...All credit to you Ronnie.
What I love about Ron he never once mentions being 16-14 down to Selby and coming out playing 3 outrageous frames.. It's the greatest thing in sport. Especially coz Selby was in form and 100% confident at the time
Funny how you don't mention 2014 wsc final when O'Sullivan had Selby on a plate for a third straight title and he blew it in a spectacular fashion... A match in which Selby didn't record a century until the last two frames of the match or so.
I would love to hear what he sees after the break and how he calculates position. He is definitely the best and most amazing player. Love watching his games.
What a lot of people don’t realise at one point he was a very accomplished runner I’m pretty sure he’s run 10k in 35/36 minutes unbelievable ,and love’s running now👏
Best snooker player ever and a cool dude with a great philosophy to life and the fact he said that about Stephen Hendry is astonishing really and while it will be true to some normally someone wouldn't say that as it could influence so many people. Out all players on there best day i dont know who would be the best
Make no mistake, if we are talking snooker, Ronnie is a genius no question about it. In no way saying he is a genius away from the game, but where snooker is concerned he is. I wish him well.
Awwww sooooo sweet Ronnie…. We’ll go through difficult phase …. You have been an inspiration to all of us going through the same phase as a child.. much love and admiration ❤❤❤❤❤
Forget the snooker and all that, what a wonderful person he is. Imagine sitting down with this guy over a pint or two. And let's not forget the job that Ryan did just letting Ronnie go on talking. Thank you from NZ!
I missed out on seeing Pink Floyd when they were playing gigs , now live in Australia and would love to Ronnie and a few of the lads do an exhibition tour here so we can enjoy the genius of this man , please Ronnie , come on down !
The best part was the interviewer asking if it’s ok to talk about the “ testing times “ of his life . Most people love to rip people apart with stinging words during these interviews for those 15 min fame !!! Love the interview, interviewer and Ronnie the “GOAT”!!!
Ronnie is more of a snooker legend than Steve Davis or Stephen Hendry, even though he's won less than them. He is a snooker genius and no one would say that about Davis or Hendry. This guy is special. He brought something to the game never seen in the modern era, swapping from left to right hand whenever he wanted, doing insane shots no one else would dare try and pulling them off, doing a 147 in 4 mins 20 secs, almost running around the table to get it done in the fastest time... he has nerves of steel. If you asked any snooker fan that's 45+ years old (that has seen Davis and Hendry) who is the best they have ever seen - not a single one of them won't say... it's Ronnie O'Sullivan, hands down.
We need more down to earth people like Ronnie ,in this interview he’s so honest about his life and his work.I so enjoyed watching this thanks Ronnie. Hope you go on to win another world Snooker title in my opinion you deserve to 👍
Ive been a huge fan of ronnie's over the last 20 years now and it is the first time ive actually seen him in a interview speaking of his life's ups and down's he is humble and a genuine bloke may he go on in the snooker world win more titles or not but enjoy his passion for snooker for many years too come as he is and always will be the greatest snooker player of all times 🙏🙏👍👍🤘🤘🎱🎱🤟🤟👍👍many best wishes with the book ron..🙏🙏🙂🙂👍👍
🐐 The goat term gets banded round too much but this guy is a fkn legend. He makes snooker worth watching, it will be a very sad day when he ‘hangs his cue up’.
I think what makes a person the GOAT is they are able to tackle issues, perform and beat records under the circumstances. I grew up watching davis and henry and they were great. The test is if both davis and henry had the same life experience as ronnie would they be successful? Vice versa if ronnie had Henry's or Davies lifestyle would he be more successful? Ronnie is a natural talent that snooker has ever seen and there is no denying.
That's silly, personal stuff that occurs off the table has no merit in the GOAT discussion when speaking about snooker specifically. Its all about on the table brilliance
Such an open person and really the world's greatest player. Some people disrespect him because of some minor antics that have occurred, but I think those are just intolerant arse-holes. If people would listen to him and understand that he has some internal struggles (like everyone, andhe's had more than many), they should cut him and everyone else a bit of slack. No one's perfect.
