I got this mower specifically to be able to drive it through a 36 inch door ru-vid.comUgkx1VWTrayKBdCKAjzAcZ_Eg4dhHTae3LkN also recommend or gate It is a little tight with the grass deflector installed but has more clearance with the deflector replaced by the recycler/mulcher. This model appears to be popular and a little harder to find for that reason. I can't judge the dependability as I have only mowed the yard twice but everything else on the mower is very nice and working fine so far. I added options for the run hour timer, arm backrests, recycler/mulcher, towing bracket, deck lift assist and cover.

As someone who has a lot of hours on ZTRs if you're new to one, go slow on your turns and don't take them super tight. Unless you like replacing grass. Just like driving a Bobcat or any skidsteer type vehicle the tighter and faster you turn the more likely you will tear up what your driving on.

I got one! Yay! Coming to me new on the crate on 05/22/2024, so I'll get to put it together. I will say... If you do not have all 3 80V suitcase batteries, put both batteries forward leaving the empty slot at the back slot. REASON BEING... This will move the center of balance forward making it harder to roll over backward going up slopes. I saw a video of someone flipping over backward on the 42" model.

Like a lot of green stuff it's about the payoff. If you compare the cost per hour of operation to a gas zero turn these things pay for themselves within the 5 year warranty period. It is a lot more up front, but compared to something similar like a Toro TimeCutter MyRide 54 at 4700 and the 54 Ryobi at 7000 you make up for that gap in gas, oil, belts, etc. There are far fewer consumables on this machine even if you don't value electric over gas. I ordered this for the joystick though. I look forward to having a free hand while I mow like I do on a riding mower but with the speed of a ZTR.

Welcome to the club! I got a video up on the 54”. Curious if you noticed the power draw from the batteries? I think something is wrong as mines drawing from the 40v at the same time as the 80v. It is NOT prioritizing the 80v as advertised. My first run was at slow drive speed and medium blade speed. 1.6ac my results were…. Let’s just say it wasn’t good.

Hello again Great Dane! After assembling my 42" on Friday, I noticed that the charger didn't seem to be charging the 40v batteries at all although it had charged the 80v to 100%. After reconnecting the charger multiple times it kept saying I was 100% charged even though the 40v batteries weren't! However, with the charger disconnected and mower turned on it showed an accurate assessment of what was charged. I then charged the 40v with my 40v rapid charger most of the way. (I contacted Ryobi and have a 'case' going with them) After doing a bunch of test driving over the weekend to get used to it, I mowed my lawn today (Tues.) starting with around 80% total charge. After carefully mowing my small yard (approx. 5K sf) I was at 51%, and the 40v batteries were fairly low like you mentioned. (One with 1 bar and one with just barely 2) The 80v were at 73%. I plugged it in and the 80v were at 100% in less than 40 min. but the 40v didn't seem to be charging again! I left it plugged in this time, and they eventually started to charge, but VERY slowly. (By comparison to the 80v) It took at least an additional 2 hrs to charge the 2 40v batteries. Ryobi says that it has something to do with them 'syncing' to the mower/'system'. I gave Ryobi my 'report' today when they called, including how much the 40v batteries were surprisingly depleted and how slowly they charged, and they said that might improve and that they would continue to check back with me and remedy the situation if necessary. By the way, I watched one of their assembly videos and saw a direct contradiction to what the manual had said about plugging in the charger. The video said to plug it in the wall first, the opposite of what the manual said! When speaking to Ryobi today, they consulted and said it doesn't matter which way you do it! Go figure... Perhaps this reviewer might have something to say about all of this!

How's the power with wet grass? I'm considering the 30" version for my half acre yard. UPDATE: I got the 30" model and so far it's been decent. I keep the drive speed on lowest level and the blade speed at the highest level to optimize the cut. I still need to overlap about 50% and I need to double mow for wet grass. On my ½ acre, I use about 60% of the battery charge.

Hmmmm not sure why ryobi went with another voltage battery style . 2 of those 40 volts 12ah have more capacity than 1 of those 80 volt 10ah battery . I like egos approach of using their current line of batteries . 6 of the 12ah batteries would have great and reverse compatible with the 40 volt .
@SetitesTechAdventures
@SetitesTechAdventures 2 года назад
EGO started out with a good voltage but Ryobi has had to play catch up. I think Ryobi found a good balance by allowing 40V batteries as extensions while still benefitting from the efficiency of a higher voltage system. Hopefully the voltage boost on the 40V batteries is efficient. The only problem with the Ryobi 80v I see is that if it's 8 or 900$ for an 80v 10ah like I saw one reviewer say, then they are about 20% more expensive per kWh then EGO. Since that video at a Ryobi event had a number of specs like charging speed wrong, I'm hoping the price is more reasonable.

I cleared and cleaned them all of and left nothing but Sand, Pebbles and Gravels, and kept it the way it is and after 20years it's still looks the same, it's clean and clear!, only wood Fences and big shed storage that you'll see there around my backyard. My backyard is huge the size of it can fit 5 semi Trucks with 53ft trailers on em' parked parallel to each other. And I saved a lot of money for keeping it clean that way for 20 years until now. I don't have to spend money for Gasoline, for motor oil, maintenance or lithium ion batteries and other parts for these machines. The only tools I have for my backyard are Rake, Pitchfork, Digging Shovel and Pickaxe which I never really used them and they just got rusted like that hanging inside the shed for many years. And broom/sweeper and Dustpan and Trash Bins that I only use for keeping my backyard always clean. that's all it!

Thank you for the video, but I still have lots of questions! I want one of these so badly! One thing has kept me from popping for one. Have you noticed problems with Teslas suddenly bursting into flames and how hard it is to put the fire out? I worry about that kind of problem with an electric mower. How much different is this than an electric car? I know the battery on a Tesla is really huge, it takes up the entire bottom of the car. Oh, how much is this charging station going to effect my electric bill? How many batteries does this thing need to do a hair under an acre? How many extra batteries does a person need to have on hand? I see that you have a whole section on your wall dedicated to batteries and chargers. Oh, when you bought your mower, how many batteries were included with it and did you have to purchase the wall charger separately?
@livefreeandtoolon
@livefreeandtoolon Год назад
All good questions, however know this is completely different than a Tesla vehicle. The batteries are removable and sealed just like tool batteries. I think the 30” mower may be good for you if it’s only an acre the mower comes with batteries.
@zephirinedrouhin3735
@zephirinedrouhin3735 Год назад
@@livefreeandtoolon Yes, that’s the one I’ve been eyeballing! Yeah, Tesla also has gas in it and the problem was with “outgassing”. I know these mowers only use batteries so I guess I shouldn’t be worried about the safety. Thanks so much for the reply. I watched the video for the 30” on the Home Depot website and I don’t think I need that big wall charger.

Gas is better for brute power. I have a gas earth auger and tried replacing it with an electric that was supposedly almost as much power. It didn't have half the ability of the same-price gas model. I went back to gas. But for things that just spin, not that much power is used. My favorite chainsaw is electric. They don't really need that much power, just spinning a little chain sprocket, and you're not supposed to make the chain do a lot of work all at once but go at it gradually, good technique with any chainsaw. Maybe a big mower is more like a chainsaw than an earth auger.

IDK.. but I would assume that you would install a towing vehicle inverter and mount the charger so that between stops, you could recharge some.. depending on the size and thickness of your lawns, the lithiun mowers (smaller uses less battery. obviously) might work just fine.. And with less than % power cost per cut, they'd pay for themselves rather fast..

Joystick is a major fail for me. The traditional bar system is far superior, being able to choose either hand (by spanning both bars with one hand) leaves the other hand free to lean over and pick something off the grass or move something out of the way (toy, branches etc). Not to mention it gives stability for your body, something you can somewhat "brace" against. Rest of the mower looks amazing, really too bad about the silly joystick.
