Ryobi idle down 3100 PSI pressure washer repair, carb clogged and destroyed pump

I picked this up for $75 bucks over the weekend. The seller said the motor was fine and the pump was bad. The description on fb was actually "needs new motor" and the seller meant to say new pump motor.....anyways it was used once then something happened and the pump mounting brackets and casting cracked. I'm not sure what happened but the seller just said "yeh we were stupid"....
Threw on a used cat pump I had laying around and it runs great!!!

Hello again....great info here!...Can I remove "idle" cable (assembly) all together and run the machine with out it?...how would I go about doing that ?...just remove cable and put the bolt back in place where the brass part bolts to pump?...appreciate it

Like your video really helpful...I have the exact unit...it was seized...fixxed that...but...I put the pump back on and what happens is that the soap dispenser container over flows with water when I start it up (theres pressure at wand but its low (green tip / not blocked)...is there a decent pump you can recomend that I can eliminate the idle cable like you did?...I found a Homelite replacement pump (looks like the identical 1 thats on there)...is ther an alternative pump you can recomend?...I think I need to clean the carb a little better than I did because I can't get it to run on the "RUN" setting...I have to leave the lever in the middle (green area)...runs good tho...thanx again in advance....great video

It sounds like the ball/spring in your soap injector nipple is missing and/or damaged. You can always just block it off. I've taken them out and put a brass plug from Lowes plumbing section in before. As for the pump. Pretty much any vertical pump will work. I used to buy AR's but on units I'm selling I just buy whatever is cheapest from Amazon Warehouse. The usually say new but have all been new just open box. I've bought pretty much every cheap brand on amazon and never had an issue. Main issue is not storing/not using pump saver.

I changed the pump on my unit as well and it didn't have the idle down feature. I am just using a pair of vice grips to keep that lever where the cable attached to stop it from staying at idle. Unit is running but stalls out after 10-30 seconds and like yours, will on run in the middle area and not in the full "run" position. I ordered a new carb so hoping that will fix the run issue. Still wondering what the proper way to disable the idle down feature would be?
