That first fight is pretty hardcore considering he was brought forth by a ghetto summoning, possessing a marine with nothing but a bit of emotional turmoil is quite the feat, all Loken really manages is buying time for himself as Samus warps the guy's flesh at which point it takes a squad mag dumping him plus a flamer to put him down. What ruins him for me is randomly shoehorning him into the whole Ruinstorm thing. If he was just there at the start and then showed up again on the Vengeful Spirit at the very end, it would've been great.
