Boter en bruine suiker, Hans? Ik vond de mayo-versie al bijzonder. Er komt een moment waarop ik het durf!! Zoals je hoorde en zag was ook ik verbaasd over de snelheid waarmee ze wegdreef. Als je gaat tellen, zijn 17 seconden best lang, maar in de praktijk sta je er toch een beetje beteuterd naar te kijken.

Hello London. ;-) You probably won't be surprised if I tell you that many years have passed where I hardly took the time to celebrate one success because I had already set another goal. Today it is very different. Then I fully enjoy a cup of coffee in the sun (during these days still behind the comfort of the glass) or the colors of a sunset. And the special thing: the successes keep coming and I deal with them differently.

For me It has always been a nerve wrecking part of boating, especially with the added wind. You calm demeanor shows you’ve lots of experience. Looking forward to the next adventure on your schedule.
Hello Hans, thank you for you kind words. Wind can be a pain in the a$$ for sure, of be you friend when it comes from the right direction. Of course that hardly ever happens. haha. I always think: "What can go wrong? And I try to anticipate on that, and what happens next I have to anticipate on that moment. As with many things in live, we fear the things that do not happen, so (look who's talking...) I learned to be in the moment. ;-)
Hey Henk dat heb je mooi gedaan door daar je werk ruimte te maken, het brengt mij op ideeen bij aanschaf van m'n toekomstige boot. Ik ben alleen staand met mijn hond dus heb al die kamers niet nodig en dan is dit wel een hele mooie oplossing. Bedankt voor je leuke video en door ernaar te kijken brengt het mij al rust, ga zo door.
Ola, ja er zijn in NL veel mensen die op een boot(je) wonen. Soms vanuit woningnood, soms omdat het veel goedkoper is dan een huis, soms omdat ze een beetje apart zijn, of zoals ik, omdat er iets in ons is wat ons ongelukkig maakt als we (te lang) in een huis aan de wal wonen. Bij de een is een woonark voldoende, een ander wil een zeilboot en weer een ander woont op een spits of wel eender binnenvaartschip van 38m dan ook. Dat mijn video's maar veel inspiratie mogen geven en dat je er ook nog lol aan beleefd!

Hi Ben, well being on the water slows down my heart rate and pressure too, that's why I am on the water and I am glad to read that it helps you by just watching. Most of the music come from online libraries, and when I have and arrangement with an artist, I use a card in the video to promote his or hers channel.

It is a late spring this year. There have been late snows and cold spells all over the world. Last week where I live (Tokyo) we had snow on 2 days. This week my friend in Pittsburg, PA (USA) reports snow, and I see in the news that the UK is having a very cold time this week. Also my friend in Oslo reports that they have a very cold spell this week too. Interesting weather this year. Stay warm!
Yeah man, we also had a two-days-winter this week. We have all kind of sayings in The Netherlands stating snow in April sometimes happens and even the great artist called Prince made a song of that rare phenomenon.

The special thing about these two people is that we know that we disagree with each other in a number of areas, but that we greatly appreciate each other as human beings. I can rightly say that these are very nice people, where I like to be. Time flies, we laugh a lot, have serious conversations and make fun of each other. I have that with few other people.

Henk-Jan, I love your narration and expert mooring skills. As a matter of fact watching you handle the ropes tying up to starboard without the benefit of help was quite impressive and very skillful. As unlikely as it is, I imagine a cowboy sitting on his horse with a lasso in hand watching your video would give you a high five!
Thank you Dan, I was lucky it went on the (silly) bollard the first time on both. Sometimes the line just jumps off and you have to start all over. So yeah, this went smooth and the High five is appreciated (whomever the cowboy may be)!
@@dancarroll6349 My grandparents had a farm. It seemed at 6yo I was allergic for everything with 4 legs and their food, so that was not a nice place to be and I am sure I did not learn how to lasso there. They only had 45 cows. ;-) You are one step ahead of me. Would love to be able to fly a small aircraft, but since I am seasick in a couple of minutes the moment that I am at sea, flying has that same effect on me. So I stick with my drone. ;-)
@@MVLadyLiselot I love your comment about sea and air sickness and sticking to drones. And I especially liked your comment about allergies to anything with 4 legs! I grew up on the south side of Chicago very close to the old Union Stockyards, the University of Chicago and Lake Michigan. My dad was a pilot in WWII and a terrific horseman who also loved to sail. So I literally grew around those activités, flying, sailing and horses. I loved those early years and spent hours riding horses in the yards and learned many bad habits from those cowboys!. Since my mother was Dutch, the rules of conduct were quite strict so I had to tow the line, or else!😏

Hi there Rick, the pilots of the baltic see, Norway, Denmark and Isles of Germany just came in the other day. But also the one for the inland waterways of Belgium AND, the east coast of England. Will I be able to do all in one year??? Who know's.

Hello Tassilo, today I got the pilot in the post from the German and Denmark coast. Have no idea if I will get there this summer, but at least I can do some prepping. One benefit if you stick to my channel: you do see some of The Netherlands, without spending much time and diesel yourself. ;-) Glad you like the video's!!
Interesting that you didn't use your thrusters when leaving Hellevoetsluis, very slick manoeuvring. On the subject of thrusters, no one should criticise your use of those. As you demonstrated when berthing in Volkeraksluis, thrusters are VERY useful. I'm also impressed at your ability to lassoo bollards. You'd make a good cowboy (if you could ride a horse).
Thank you Terry and I must confess that I sometimes forget that I have thrusters. I did not have them on my saling cutter, so I am used to maneuvring 36ft on one engine. With two it goes smoother, and when not needed I like to play around with the engines. In the past year I regularly practiced throwing the lines. If I was moored somewhere and there were large mooring posts, I would just 'throw a string' 10 or 20 times. A little practice helps for those moments when it comes down to it.
Hi Henk, Nou daar ben ik weer echt even voor gaan zitten een nieuwe show van Sailing LadyLiselot en dacht al meteen aan het begin kijk Henk laat alweer meteen iets meer van zijn boot zien met de camera loopt hij naar zijn boot er langs en voorbij met een mooi plaatje van zijn boot want dat is het zeker, weer mooi weer een mooi vaart leuk die uitleg op de plotter zo naar de sluizen en dan het aanleggen dat was ook grappig dat de wind met de boot speelt wel handig z'n afstandsbediening misschien ook handig voor de camera's hoef je niet naar binnen omdat beeld te draaien en toen liet je ook nog je kantoor even zien top. Ik begrijp je wel Henk want privé is nog altijd privé Ik heb weer genoten en kijk weer graag uit naar jou volgende show

Question, with a vessel as sophisticated as yours, it surprises me that you have to run the generator to charge up your system when the mains are running.. Just wondering.. I am enjoying your videos by the way..
Hello Doug, At that time I had a battery bank (8x150Ah) which reached it's end of life cycle. And running my genset boosted the bank with 90Amps (Quattro 5000) instead of the 25Amps of the altenator. Today (2022-08) a new bank and 690Wp solar are the reason I do not run the genset anymore.

Don't feel obligated to show us your 'personal space'. it's yours, it's your safe harbour. Ofcourse there is an interest of how a 'liveaboard' does his thing. But i think we can imagine you have a living room, a bed an bathroom and the works. It's a yacht. That's what they all have. Enjoy your trips!

Thank you, please ask as much as you want. In general one does not have to pay for bridges and locks. BUT, there are bridges and locks (see my video on the Canals of Haarlem: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-bLptxME1e9o.html) where you have to pay via an app and for the lock. When you visit The Netherlands by boat or a rental, all operators speak maritime English and German and will explain when payment (a couple of euro's) is needed.
Hi Henk-Jan, in a harbor you have to pay, but do you also have to pay when you are docked to the 'kaai' like in Hellevoetsluis? I noticed you have to be a bit of a cowboy to lasso the ropes around these bollards, you're pretty handy :)

Hello Michael, you are welcome to come over! From the comments on my video's do I understand that many English speaking foreigners have a boat in The Netherlands because all operators speak Maritime German and English. Of course all comunication amongs ships goes in Dutch, but the moment 'we' understand you're English we will address you that way. A Canadian friend of mine lived for 10 years in The Netherlands and was not able to speaks Dutch. Not because he did not want to, but the moment us Dutchies heard him try to speak Dutch with an English accent, we switched to (our own accent) English to do the conversation. You will found out yourself the moment that you join us.

I do love that accent too!! I believe the TV series (ages ago) "Flying Doctors" was world famous in The Netherlands and as a kid I enjoyed the accent. So when I wanted to add the AI voice-over I already knew what accent she would talk. ;-) We have quite some Aussies (and NZ and Tasmania) in the audience.

A question about your office, I am assuming that you have all your electronics protected from an electrical surge or power spike? A venture. That's is a beautifull word that fit's my journey. Have you seen video's from Tony Fleming on his boat called Venture? On the homepage of my channel you will find a link to his. Very nice documentaries. Back to Lady Liselot: Yes, I have both Victron stuff and extension cords with outlets that accept peak currents. Especially with laser printers on board, those peak currents can increase enormously, and I therefore absorb them. I am in the process of building a roof on top of the Fly so I can install solar. Running the genset every 2 days for 3 or 4 hours when on anchor is a pain in the ###. But I have not found the propper roof-solution, so perhaps I start with just 1 425Wp panel on the fly.
H-K, didn't the Netherlands at one time tax a house based on how wide it was and does it still do that? I noticed a number of the houses on the older side where much more narrow than of those built in the 70s......80s.
;-) Did the doctor recently complement you on your eyesight? :-) She is 1999-05, c2 convertible and another love of my life. The 3.0D Cayenne used to be my daily drive, but I sold that one, since I went from 90,000km/y to 2,000 since I live on board and do everything online.

People making fun of bow thrusters is like people making fun of moderne medicine or the internet. It’s super convenient so why not use them. It’s great to know how to dock a boat without them (in case the thrusters ever break down) but to whole anti thruster thing is ridiculous.
Well on social media there are always experts who own nothing and yet know it all about everything. It's always good to have experts standing on the quay. The moment you set off, you wave polite 'goodbye' and set for another venture.
keep your personal life private, not everybody needs to know. do you keep all your video footage after you upload it , if you do maybe transfer it to another hard drive that way you will have more room on your video recorder. i know that will be a pain the butt because it adds a extra step.
From that moment I have 1TB and 2x 3TB portable HDD's. I have to convert the VMS footage before I can use it. until now I still have all the footage from published video's but I think of deleting that all, since I allready have checked all footage and used the best parts for the video, so why keep it. BUT, once deleted it does not come back.... It did not take me 1 night when I decided to through 400+ book aways in the paperbin. I think I needed 14 days. ;-) same with the footage. It take me 3 months already.
Hahaha, dat vind ik lief van je René. Natúúrlijk ben ik jong en vitaal, maar ik koos comfortabel wonen boven 'kamperen' en bovendien was ik het zeilen na al die jaren ook wel een beetje zat. Bij alle zeiljachten die ik bezocht in mijn zoektocht, kreeg ik bevestigd, dat een zeiljacht is gemaakt voor 'buiten leven' en dat is leuk in The Med, maar minder in NL. daardoor mis je (lees: IK) veel woonruimte en -comfort. Vandaar dus dit bootje. Als ik met een paar jaar naar het zuiden trek, is de kans op hogere temperaturen aanwezig en bestaat de kans dat ik toch zeilend die kant op ga. Dan wordt de afweging "mono of cat?". Wie dan leeft, die dan zorgt.
