No offense, but you don't have very good eyes. Turning Eyeshield off DOES NOT fix the issue. The colors are still extremely dull and pale in comparison to an S22 Ultra or an S23 Ultra with eye comfort shield also off. The issue is not a "setting change". It's s a software bug. The issue is that the vivid option is not truly the vivid option. It's actually using the color pallete of the natural tone. You can test this by toggling back and forth between vivid and natural and youll see that you'll barely even notice a difference. Now do the same thing on an s22 ultra or an s23 Ultra and you'll see a massive difference when you toggle between vivid and natural. Get your eyes checked bro. This is NOT a setting issue so please don't make these false videos like this claiming you've fixed the issue. This can only be fixed via a software update from Samsung.
Agreed. I played with every setting, it's washed out compared to my S23 ultra and vivid mode is broken. At least that part should be easy to fix, but the washed out crap is a concern.
Dear sir, thanks for the kind suggestion of getting my eyes checked. In this video, the whole point was to show what can be done to ensure screen doesn't look washed out. I never said I have fixed the issue of difference between natural and vivid mode. I didn't even compare it anytime during the video. So not sure why you are angry about it. When I set up my S24U, I saw the screen was washed out and changed these settings. So decided to share my experience.
Samsung released statement that this duller setting is intentional to give things "a more natural look" and won't adress this with a software update apparently
During S21 times, the screen was much more saturated. They started toning it down in s23 and s24. Maybe some units are more affected. I compared s23u and s24u after switching off the eye comfort shield which made things better
I was just saying the same thing!! I wish I didn't factory reset it last night. And these "eye comfort" hacks are not the answer! That has nothing to do with the crappy display, that only protects your eyes! If they don't fix this within my return window I'm sending it back.
yeah.. thanks for the video but sadly this doesn't fix the Vivid mode bug.. when you switch between Vivid and Natural, it doesn't do anything.. it's kinda stuck at Natural.
I think this time the screen is calibrated differently. In vivid mode, if you keep the color temperature towards 'Cool', then the icons will look more vibrant vs natural mode. But it doesn't look washed out as some people are saying. The saturation level is probably dialled down a bit.
It's just the anti-reflection display. It's kinda like putting a privacy screen protector on. I did see other reviewers show the back & the display scratches easily, as usual & they said that they were very careful with the 24 Ultra also but idk. I got a Beautiful Cow Leather Tan Case & a Clear glass screen protector on mine. It's fine, everyone is different. I love the flat display & that's the reason why I traded my S22 Ultra for it. That & the $800+ my carrier offered me. I couldn't pass that up. Great info, holla from Texas 🤟
Thanks. I am really enjoying the flat screen on S24U and it is perfect for me but I also acknowledge some people who prefer more vivid screen. Samsung can always give an option to make the vivid option more saturated. I have heard they will issue an update.
Not ditching my s23u for s24u. For the 2 main reasons. 1. The curve is optimum in s23u, swiping left right glides on it and i love it. 2. Most of the AI ferures are at the nascent stage and are already available in google that comes when you purchase storage from them.
Ive been looking for this video for 2 weeks. Just for that you deserve a lot more than those famous tubers who never mention display colors. They ignore it but its one of the most important parts
@@gizmo-addict great man. i ordered it its coming in 3 days cant wait. but when i tested the demo s24u in the store, colors seemed waaay better on my s22u i panicked and wanted to cancel the order lmao. thank god they let us fix that. i think in your video the screen is even better on s24 not just equal to s23. but i will have to check it irl myself to make sure
Tried, it doesn't fix anything. Compared with my S23 ultra, the S24 ultra has washed out colors! It's like vivid and natural setting is not working....
It also facing display issues in S24 ultra. Not brighter and clear display than s23 and s22 ultra. Not clear in sun light. Also facing face reflects when using this. May I know why?
compared the s24 ultra display with my 25k MI 11i and S24 ultra failed miserably. Just not images or icons, even the color in the videos look very dull in s24 ultra when copared to MI 11i. I was a MI user and bought s24 ultra and extremely disappointed. Even the camera is not that great.
Oh wow that's a dramatic difference when you changed the settings. The S24 has greater attention to detail and clarity as opposed to blown out over saturation of the S23 Ultra?
@@HottieLinus it didn't to me after I switched off the eye comfort setting. But this varies by person to person. I have been using S23U since launch and to me S24U screen looks similar.
Did you say if put on automatic brightness, it will be brighter outside in the sun? In doors i put it next to a s22 ultra, both same settings, max brightness and the s22 ultra is much brighter.
Correct. On auto brightness, S24U should be brighter outdoors. Seems they have reduced max auto brightness indoors which probably makes sense as you dont need such high brightness indoors. Atleast this is what I noticed on comparing s23u and s24u.
June 2024 ...got S24u yesterday but the screen isn't any better than my 6yo beater Note 9. This phones is a scam. This is ridiculous, why is no one complaining?????
Check the display settings. Probably the settings are not properly set. But if you still don't like it, probably best to return it. We shouldn't compromise on anything.
@@gizmo-addict Is any new phone proven to have a screen at least on par with S23u? I can't believe I am even considering an iPhone because of that disappointment after being Note fan and owner aince Note 1 (!!!!!).
@@petergplus6667 i dont think so. I actually like s24u display (and liked s23u too). For me s24u gives me smoother experience than s23u. I can't use any other phone as the experience is just not the same. I have the iphone 15pm also but it is the usual dependable iphone but I got bored. Also notifications are a joke on iphones.
@@ParthaPriyabrataPrusty i can see a difference in my unit but it is much more subtle compared to S23U. Samsung should increase the sensitivity of vivid mode so consumers have the option to customize as they want
I think it depends on the person. Some people like muted natural colors. Some like more vivid colors. I personally like it since i generally used eye comfort shield on my previous S23U
Where did you hear that Samsung was trying to fix the vivid mode? I was chatting with them for over 3 hours last night and chatted with over 10 people and not one of them was aware of this issue. I've been doing a lot of reading and didn't see where Samsung said there was an issue. I have the S24+ and the Display> Screen Mode options work as expected. This might be an Ultra problem. However, the first thing I noticed when I transferred my data from my S20+ was the screen and that it appeared washed out. I'm returning mine and placed a second order. If no difference, I'll return and continue using my S20+
@@claytonburton6980 there are some talk of it on reddit. Someone who works at samsung mentioned this on reddit. Though take it with a pinch of salt. Personally, I don't find this to be an issue with my S24U as disabling the eye comfort shield and color enhancement setting made the screen vibrant. Probably due to the anti reflective screen, this difference in vibrancy is there. But it's not that different as I compared it vs S23U. Maybe it's an issue with few units in particular
@gizmoaddict I phoned samsung and thay said they would fix it with software. The thing is HDR content looks great on both phones so it doesn't seem to be a hardware problem.
@@gizmo-addict yup I turned everything off still looks dull they also removed the swipe up navigation I was using on the 23U overall this is a huge disappointment so far lol.
It is not an issue actually. I would suggest go to s store and check demo unit if possible. Its just how the screen is calibrated now which might get updated by Samsung. However, I dont think it will be a deal breaker for you if you are not too much into saturated look of the screen.
@gizmoaddict I already have S22U using vivid color setting....but yeah I need to visit the shop and check once....how about camera is it much better than S23U ?
