S2K TURBO Install/Build My First RWD Honda BOOST Project 

That things gonna be a blast. Hard to tell thru video but it dont sound like rod knock or bearing noise, sounds almost like tensioner knocking or chain guide/tensioner.

In and out of garage listening to video was a good time. "Welp I drilled the girdle" "It can eat up the aluminum" "I bent this shit with a crowbar" "I welded some shit it was 82 bux" 😂😂😂

My prelude sometimes gets a LOUD ticking noise at idle. Been doing it for ages. As in ever since I got the car. I think it’s mostly because I set the valve lash a bit on the right side.

Pull the belt off and run it, listen again, could be an accessory drive pulley

Make sure to heat wrap everything by the manifold the fuse box and battery they can melt under the heat it's very common; Most people use that gold reflective tape I would put it on the fuse box all over and next to the battery; they even wrap the VTEC lines but you took it off so it does get very hot under there. Something to note

That knock you’re hearing sounds like the TCT

I sure hope we see a true cold air intake on this build thats not sucking hot under hood air. That would be a delightful change. And no, what you hit with the step drill is all good. No worries

I really have a feeling it something to do what timing chain or Tensioner. I bet the Holes are all blow out like ever thing Else these days on the Tensioner Of course 😂

That noise is totally normal for f20’s my s2000 did that from day one. Even had the same cadence as yours. I would suggest upgrading the timing chain tensioner which is where I found the source of that noise to originate and it helped quiet things down. I always believed it was chain slap and that kind of confirmed it.

They do a timing chain tensioner cover replacement that has a AN fitting on it for turbo drainage

I had exact same problem with s2k it was the bearing in the serpentine belt pulley !! easy way to check is remove the belt and listen again

Also I would highly recommend doing the valve lash too. Can hear a slight 'tick' in the video. S2k's need periodically checking/adjusting

ive done all three returns, obviously your engine orentiation is different than mine, but the timing cover return ahs done me best because under hard accel it keeps the oil from blocking the return allowing the drain to drain as it needs to. using the pan i was having problems with it backing up the return at the track causing it to push oil from my turbo.

Probably the timing chain tensioner is going bad best case scenario easy to change and not too expensive from Honda And check for cracked retainer and or cracked roller on the rocker arm pretty common on ap1 engine cracker roller would make a intermittent sound and score the cam lobe And a crack retainer will destroy the engine when it break and drop a valve do a valve lash while in there You can put ap2 retainer or go aftermarket spring

Something on the accessory is loose I bet. Maybe tensioner pulley. Adjust clutch pedal it could be dragging from the hydraulic system. That doesn’t work, the clutch master is know to fail on Honda’s

Mechanics stethoscope could help pinpoint it. Is it in rhythm with every revolution or every other? Could you happen to have worn thrust washers and it's faint piston slap? Do you ever have oil tested to see for bearing wear as opposed to visual inspection prior to a tear down?

Could be a LMA my H22a has the same sound. No issues for me.

It’s probably bad water pump bearings I’ve heard some loud weird sounding water pumps in the past they sounded like major engine problems but they weren’t

Adjust the valve train? Lht performance says it's good to do on high mileage motors he even shows one with a bad roller on the lifters

I heard the noise right away before you said it. Do these have balance shafts?

Does that have that oil pump balance shaft that could possibly be making that noise I'm not sure and could be wrong just a thought

That is a stock filter for s2k, well they do have a cone filter from factory. Not sure if that's a standard one or not
