1) Sac state (green team) beat Stanford this year. 2) many of the athletes you see on the Montana squad are former FBS. 1/2 the offensive line are FBS drop downs 3) both Montana and sac would be upper G5 squads. The top 5-10 FCS teams would be right in the mix in every G5 conference. Don’t believe me? See James Madison, who is currently 10-0 in the sun belt but was FCS just 2 years ago. In fact, in their last season of FCS ball they played Montana. In short, you’re wrong

@korybleak8058 When I said FBS, I meant more like the Power 5 schools. GOOD power 5 schools. Most FCS is garbage. Yeah, sure, the better FCS teams can play the G5 schools well and some P5 schools... but for the most part.... Nah, the players are smaller, the teams are smaller, the schools are smaller, and the level of talent is pretty sub-par. The big and talented highschool athletes are all looking at power 5 schools. The FCS teams are pretty much made up of just local students who want to play football for fun, or the tier 2 players that aimed for bigger, but had to settle for less.

Local kids? Again, you’re showing you know very little about the top of the subdivision. If you look at the starting lineup for the Griz this season you will find numerous 3 star athletes from California, Washington, Minnesota, Montana, Idaho, Arizona…..etc. The fact that you think these guys come predominantly from local communities says a lot, as does the fact that you think they’re “small” The Oline at Montana averages something like 6’6” 300. The starting running back honored his commitment to the Griz despite an offer from Minnesota. The starting QB is from Texas. The second string running back is from Oregon. Furthermore, how many wins over P5 programs did NDSU have in the last 5-10 years? Beat both K-State and Iowa at their house when both were nationally ranked. Hell, Montana went and beat Washington in 2021 at their place too, also when they were ranked. They didn’t finish the season ranked, but that team was still littered with 4 and 5 star talent. Yet the Griz beat them. I don’t know why you have an axe to grind here, but as a fan of both the Griz and Alabama tide, I have a team on both ends of that spectrum, and the biggest difference I see from even most P5 teams and top tier FCS teams is depth. There is a talent gap between the top end FBS and the top end FCS, but it’s not as big as you seem to believe. What you’re describing in regard to local kids sounds more like NAIA, NOT division one football, FCS or otherwise.
