She's so so wrong about that glow up thing at the start. She clearly has no idea what being in a toxic or abusive relationship does to a person's soul and what relief it brings for some women just be out of it. Not every woman is jumping back into dating right after breaking up. The sensible mature ones heal, get their life together first.
Speaking from experience… when your in a relationship with the WRONG MAN it depletes your energy… emotionally, physically and spiritually. Resulting in you not being the best version of yourself. Then when you gain the confidence to leave that bad relationship, your glow up automatically happens because now you’re focusing on yourself, your needs, your wants without having this toxic, dark energy lurking over you and sucking your soul.

I’ve made all the poor choices in regards to my choices in partners. I’ve also spent decades with absolute narc. I’ve self reflected but, still have work to do. I don’t want to be the same woman who chose poorly. I want to get accustomed to healthy men. I 💯 feel that she is correct and I I will listen to her until I know I am ready to be as responsible to myself as I’ve been to badly raised men. I can’t be responsible to a well raised man as long as I’m not too old for one. If I end up alone the rest of my life then so be it.
I would appreciate a happy medium, because even though I’m not in her culture, I have a very high regard for respecting my partner, and being respected by my partner, and I would not have secretive conversations let alone even entertaining the idea of getting together with an ex, unless he already Had been approved by my current partner to be around socially. But I also come from a background of parents who are therapists, and usually the only reason that I would have contact with his ex or with my ex would be that someone needs to finally get real and get straight about some thing that happened in our history where there’s going to be apologies made and everybody is in on it, and knows what the purpose is. I know that some people would have a lot of questions about that, but it comes from a place of want to be clear and straightforward not to get ego, stroked, or to find an escape route from my current partner. I feel empowered by being a straight shooter, who is very lit up and excited about monogamy. Call me strange I don’t care.
