I really liked the educational part on the "seam" rock geology, its effects on blasting plan, and your thought process on working out a solution. Also digging around the rock to limit vibration. Thanks Dave!

Blk powder gives the 'push' i need to move larger sections up to 2000 tons away from the main bedrock shelves. I'll sometimes use primacord to fast split drilled blocks that contain too many seams. Its not the kind of thing that most would consider precision engineering but there is a real science and art to what you do. A lot of experience and knowledge goes into blasting. Question have you always been a self employed boom boom or have you done mining work and the like? I reckon it would be really exciting if you didnt cover it ...the potential mess would be humongous thanks for sharing
@demolitiondavedrillandblast

There is a farmer in North Queensland, called the Queensland farmer here on YT, and he can use some truckloads of rocks for his spillways for his dams. If he has to buy rocks it costs him a lot of money. So if you are ever in that area and need to dump some rocks you can contact him. Or you might know some people who can help him out with a few truckloads of rocks. If you know some people who could help him let me know so that I can tell him about that.

I know the basics of how hard the different rocks are from firt year uni geology and have known a few people who did demolitions in earthworks. What I am very unsure of is how hard it is to cut vs drill and demolish. What I am curious on is could a house site on a hill side be done with the rock being featured as the walls. would explosives allow enough control to preserve rock integrity or is it likely to fracture the walls in weird ways.

I take a great deal of care Rich. That said, the dogs are very good and would probably ping me. The dogs indicated on one of my workers at LA airport a few years ago, they went right over him and found nothing, he explained the he worked with the stuff but did not have a license to show, they held him for 9 hours until it could be confirmed with Australian authorities
