I fill mine at Morrison's as they are working in partnership with Safefill and have approved the use and refilling of Safefill branded gas cylinder bottles. If I use any other station I go into the kiosk first and have a polite word with the staff, and explain and show evidence that Safefill bottles are safe and purposely designed to be filled up with LPG, and that they have a safety shut off so you can only fill them up to 80% full, 9 times out of 10 that is suffice and sometimes a member of staff will even come out and help assist and fill it for you.
Nice vlog 👍🏻, if I was you I would get myself a handwheel pigtail for your Safefill as you can over tighten the normal pigtails and damage the little "plug valve" in the filling spout and even more you could apply to much force and actually crack the bottle where the brass tap is fitted into the fiberglass.
How do you find garages which allow? If they don't allow, what do they do when you try and fill - announce on the tannoy for you to stop or something? I'm interested in this system but obviously want a garage close by that I can use
Now Morrisons are on board with Safefill, I think you’ll find more retailers will look at Safefill as a serious revenue stream. The big boys have waged war on Afefill from the first day it appeared because they want to keep ripping people of with their rental cylinders- £24 for 6kgs- did you know that £18 of that is for the rental? All power to Safefill. Saved me a small fortune over the last 5-6 years. Everyone should have a Safefill.
It's actually quite a bit more than £18 for the rental rip off charge, when we refill our Safefill cylinders we pay 20% VAT and also road fuel duty the likes of calor dont pay any road fuel duty and only 5% VAT because its classed as heating fuel.
Apparently the "red book" which is the petrol industry safety book has been updated and all garages should now allow safefill bottles to be filled. Bit it may take some time to filter through
Not only the Red Guide has been amended to include properly constructed cylinders (Safefill) but also UKLPG has fallen into line and reprinted Sheet 26 which is now Sheet 37 I believe.
It would be a really good idea if you got yourself a stainless steel tail with a handwheel on it- hand tight should be fine- it always has been for 6 yrs with me. You don’t need to tighten it up so you can hang off it. As for the Calorlite, I wouldn’t give it house room! A 5kg Safefill is my backup. As far as fill points are concerned, go to MyLPG.eu- that is kept up to date with all fill points.
I find Safefill the best thing to hit the LPG market in the last 50 yrs. As caravanners. We owe NEIL and JOHN at Safefill a massive debt of gratitude. I got rid of my last ripoff cylinder 5 yrs ago and I will never go back to them! Why would I?
Enjoying your vlogs lloyd.i think we have a lot in common as you seem to get excited about getting away in your van as i do,also notice you get in debbies way when shes trying to clean as i seem to get in the way then aswell.
the price says it all get a extension pipe from the bottle to the pump pull the van up to the pump plug the extension in fill up job done, get the locks from Towsure they sell them in twos one on the locker, one on the inside or outside of the van door sine a torch on it you see how much is in the bottle
That's the problem exactly with this bottles, maybe in the UK it's easier but in Belgium you find perhaps1 to 20 LPG pumps where they look to another side if you fill them. And it has to been done between light and dark if you know what I mean... Counts also for the gross of European country's.
Leave it in the caravan get a remote fill then just fill in the caravan. Or like I have fit it to the car to come into spare wheel well, hide pipe away when not needed route into the boot attach to the bottle (secured in the boot) and just fill up. So far filled twice both at Shell 😂😂😂
