Gaslight at homebase 10kg propane now cost 55£ in exchange 19.5l =10kg of LPG at Morrison garage cost 16£ . Bought Safefill 10kg bottle for 212£ . 5-6 self-fill gives money back . Nice review 👍 PS I fill up SafeFill now every 6days to run Manhattan Calor gas heater - so you can imagine the savings 😉
Great to meet up a few weeks ago Nick. I've been trying to get hold of one these bottles for ages. I may be able to get a 7kg one sometime this month from a place in Norwich. Keep up the great vids.
Just ordered a 10kg safefill and i heard about not filling it to full capacity, i have messaged the supplier to ask how much and have had no reply. So this video of yours was really help full thank you.
Many thanks Lynn. The safety cut off should only let you put just over 19 ltrs in but on the first fill you do they say to only put 15 ltrs in but not sure why. Anyway on my second fill it stoped automatically at just over 19ltrs so no problem.
I’ve not refilled mine, myself, yet, so this was very helpful. Also thanks for the tip about checking the level with a torch. Surprisingly, Safefill don’t seem to mention this anywhere.
I have the old type 5 years ago cost £165.00 prefilled. The price of gas used to be at the Domestic Rate at Carvers in Wolverhampton at .23p. a litre. I filled up just before Xmas around .65p.a litre. I broke even after 3 years...then didn't use it through Covid of course..never worry about putting Alde central heating on now! Never had a problem filling up
Yes the price of gas has gone through the roof. I stay on my van 3 nights every week so use the heating a lot in winter so it made sense for me to get the Safefill. Thanks for the comments 👍
Really interesting video and bottle, this one would not be legal or filled in Sweden. We must have the self filled bottled fixed in the vehicle. A great option! Happy Twinnin Nick 🙌
I’ve just bought 2 x Safefill bottles for my new Adria Compact DL I’m collecting next month. I’m going to fill them this week so I’ve got a good idea of what I need to do now. Cheers Shaun😉
Hey Shaun, We are completely new to motorhomes and get our Adria Compact DL in October. We were originally intending to have a refillable system fitted on our vehicle so just wondering 6 months on if you're glad you opted for safe fill bottles. Seems a cheaper, better option. Also does your DL fit the two large safe fill bottles? Are they easy to use in Europe? Sorry for all the questions but any thoughts or advice greatly appreciated. Regards Mark
@@rodgedodgecook1849 Hi Mark, I’m afraid I still haven’t got the DL yet. It keeps getting moved every few weeks I’m currently expecting it 1st Nov but I’ll believe it when I see it, 18 months wait to-date. I did try my bottles in a Compact they had at my dealer and 2 large ones fit nicely. They have also agreed to fit and external filling point that can be used to fill the bottles abroad similar to the Gaslow fixed system. Hope that helps a little. When did you order yours ? Cheers Shaun.
@@RV-zk7zq Wow. 18 months! I thought we had been kept waiting but clearly we are all in a similar boat. We were originally due to get the vehicle in March. We are now due to get the vehicle late October / early November but like you, we aren't holding our breath. Thanks so much for the advice on the safe fill bottles. We probably won't bother with the external filling point, though I can imagine it would be useful, especially in Europe etc. Being totally new to motor homing we will likely regret that decision but such is life! Thanks again Shaun
@@rodgedodgecook1849 If you get a new date can you drop me a line. I’m interested to see when others in a similar position actually receive theirs. Good luck Shaun.
You can over fill a Safefill!! Although the Overfill Protection Device will work very well and 99.99% of the time, there are occasions when you might have problems. It is all explained on the Safefill Group. Please always go with the dial on the pump! You should know what literage. Your bottle will take- fill it to that and STOP at that even if the OPD has not activated!!
Yes agreed Merve, I intend to fully use a bottle and then go over to my reserve calor 6kg bottle until I can refill the Safefill up to 19 Ltrs. I’ve filled it once since filming and it did shut off just over 19 ltrs just as I was about to stop the fill. Thanks for your comments.
@@nickharper6436 More difficult if you are ‘topping up’ but always mark the full level on your cylinders- that way you will always be in command. 1/2 an extra litre you will get away with but best not to risk it. Thanks for getting back to me. If you are going to the show I will be on the Roadpro stand. 👍🏻
do you have any ventilation inside the propane compartment? this is a great tank , how long a 19liter would last for two person for cooking and heating on a T6?
Hi Andy, yes there is a dropout vent in the compartment. Not sure how long it would last as all depends how cold it it and how much cooking you do but if you had 19 ltrs in a metal tank it would be a lot heavier. Hope this helps
A great saving when you fill yourself but a bit of advice always use a good set of gloves when filling lpg as a cold burn from lpg can be worse than a hot burn..
Hi Salvador you can find them on Amazon UK or EBay. Try searching on Amazon with this Gomet LPG GPL Autogas Safefill Tank Refill Adapter Set M22 for All Europe ACME DISH EURONOZZLE BAYONET with Bag
I didn't know about about not filling all the way on 1st fil until two months after 1st fil. No problems to report. Filled about ten times since. Its worry tho why this wasn't explained to me at purchase
Apparently the reason for the first fill is that the bottle has nitrogen in it as supplied. The first fill will let this be purged and then fill as normal.@@nickharper6436
Hi, do you have to see the assistant to authorise the pump, or does it come on when you lift the nozzle and push the button. Also could you fill two bottles on one transaction.Thanks.
I believe that Safefill bottles need to be re-certificated after 10 years from new. Do you know of this? Does that limit the useful life of the bottle? How easy is it to re-certificate and what's the cost?
Hi Ian I’ve heard that but nothing is mentioned in the paperwork that came with my bottle! I’m not sure how you do it or how much it costs. I’ll have a look on the Safefill website!
Hi Ray you can see the level of LPG by shining a light onto the translucent area of the bottle. If you watch the full video it shows this near the end where I demonstrate this. In the bottle the gas is in liquid form before it is expended out as a gas. I’ve put a link to the video as not sure which one you’ve watched. Hope this helps and thanks for the comments. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-oHUkIjDv_ls.html
Hi, do they come with all the fittings required. I was using the 4.5kg calor butane bottles, but they are unavailable as far as I can see now. I just need to connect it to my Calor twin gas stove.
Hi Paul, they don’t come with any fittings but the connectors in my van that I used to connect my calor bottles fit into the Safefill so I think they are fairly standard.
@@nickharper6436 Ok, can you recommend a good kit, are the ones off ebay any good do you know, as I heard they wasn't, but maybe that's just sales talk!
I have to say reading the forums there is a lot of ignorance regarding filling up... I've never had to fill mine myself!. I do have two tips for you. Change to a hand screw connector with the rubber gromet...it is recommended, much easier. Also inside the hole where gas comes out it can after refilling "stick closed" if this happens no gas will come out. So disconnect, put a screw driver into the hole centrally, give it a sharp tap with a hammer, it releases with a quick puff of gas, reconnect hose..make a cup of tea .This was advised directly to me over the phone by the owner of Safefill..enjoy
@@nickharper6436 that's what I can't understand. It's not like it needs training or anything. Why would it handle the pressure on the second fill but not on the first ? I've asked a few people the reason for this but everyone just seems to be content just to blindly follow the guidance without asking why. Okay, thanks for the reply.
