On this trip I set out to build a portage trail from Salhi Lake to Jan Lake. During day 6 & 7 I make my way out through several different lakes and camp over night on Pelican Lake. Next day I paddle back to Jan Lake Lodge and enjoy a nice cool beverage.

Thanks Derek, It's a cool place. One thing I regret not adding to the videos is that Sahli Lake sits in a area called the "Pelican Window". The rock in the area is around 3 Billion years old. It looks different to any rock I've seen before. Thanks for watching the series! Cheers

It's amazing how strong bear spray is. Cajun pineapple actually sounds pretty tasty 😂. I love all the different plants that you've come across on your journey, I would love to find that scarlet elf cup. So cool. I also particularly loved all the celebratory beer sounds at the end! Can't wait for your next adventure.

LOL....hopefully I never have to taste bear spray again! Thanks PGP! If you want to start getting into plant ID, here is a great book that easy to use: "Plants of the Western Boreal Forest and Aspen Parkland: including Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba" It has a bunch of cool info like traditional uses. I think Robison McNally still has it. BEER is SO rewarding after a trip!!!

Enjoyed the music again. Enjoyed the opening of well deserved brews as well. Well done, and thanks for taking an old Man along. Next time take a flask along for those cold mornings.

If you are not on the face book group Saskatchewan canoe & kayak trips. Bruce hauman posted that they followed your sahli to jan lake route. They even gave you credit for opening it up. Pretty cool.

The dramatization was hilarious! 🤣 That sucks with the bear spray. Luckily it wasn't worse. I think we know why the walleyes weren't biting. They are not a fan of cajun seasoning. Dude, after all the beers, I was fully expecting the sound of a thud! 🥴

Ha ha, Thanks Diamond! I drink like a fish when I get out of the bush.🍻 Gota replace the fat I lost on my trip. Walleyes may not like Cajun seasoning.....but they sure taste good with Cajun Shake N Bake....is that ironic? 🐟🍳

Another excellent puddle jumper production! Absolutely fantastic trip overall. You've really inspired me. I think I'd like to do this as a solo trip before the season ends. Also do you know if there are portages through to Reid Lake from the north part of Jan? Looks like there should be.

Bruce, thanks for the kind words!!!! Your comments alone made all the effort I put into this worthwhile! If you want any trip notes, email: puddle_jumper_sk@outlook.com. I can give you all the files I have. Funny you ask, but yes I went back to Reid Lake a few years back. Camped on an Island on the north end of Jan, then did a day trip back there. There were portages all away back to Reid and then it ends. You can do a small haul from Jan to Pelltier Lake easy enough too, but I don't remember a actual trail. Was going to cut a path from Pelletier to Reid but I just haven't made it there yet. Cheers bud, and thanks for watching!

@@puddlejumper-sk Thanks!! BTW We just did a trip up on Jan and we found a very nice portage from Jan to Pelletier with a large campsite at the Pelletier end of the portage.

Welcome to Pike Lake, at the end of lovely Aspen Creek. Stop off at the Rocky Trail Lodge after your long day and dance the night away with the Ankle Turn Boogie band. And remember, it's not a portage, it's a walk in the shade.

If there is a trail, the portage is definitely a reprieve. Thanks for watching.

We did the churchill river from sandfly lake back to stanely mission where the outfitter picked us up. We started the trip at lac larongue and flew up river from there to sandfly lake. 14 day trip with the best fishing one couild imagine. Blue berry season was on and we had blueberry everything for 14 days..haha.There was four of us plus our guide who soloed a canoe with two food barrels in his canoe. We did not know the river so we opted on a guide. He was wonderful and a great cook over an open fire. We had the gruman 14 foot aluminum canoes with the white water keel.We live on the north shore of lake Superior in Marathon which is all boreal forest too. What a fantastic trip that was. My wife and I want to take out camper and head west again to the Riendeer River just to fish it in the near future. Great trip you did and you have balls to do it alone...lol...CHEERS
