***** It definitely was way better making the sailing videos with you compared to making them on my own! I think the Cruising Canada series was too short in my opinion! lol
Excellent video thank you. I hope you will do many more of these reviews it was really interesting. I think it helped that Doug was so informative and knowledgeable. I eagerly await part 2.
BodyGuardOfLies1 Thank you very much :) I'll certainly try to see if I can find some other cool boats to do videos about. I told Doug that he is a very good story teller! :) Part 2 should be available tomorrow :)
I look forward to it. Any size of boat review is good as it is cool to see the layouts. It may not be such a problem for most but heads and showers are very important to me as I have 2 teenage daughters. I guess everybody has different needs so please as many reviews as you can. I will even forgive you the sight of your lilly white legs at 30 seconds even though you promised there would be a warning after the last time :)
Thanks for coming along :) It is an awesome boat for sure! I wish there were more westsails avaliable in Europe. That would make the decision a little bit easier for me :) Part 2 should be up tomorrow :)
***** thats a nice boat but i think its alittle too big to maintain on a budget once you go past 35ft its a whole lot of hull to deal with, dont get me wrong id love to own one but im not sure if id love slipping and antifouling it
razzorbladz The westsail 42 sure is sweet! I'm not overly worried about the maintenance :) I'm looking at boats in the 38 to 42 ft range. At least there is no lawn that needs moving ;)
will you need crew to sail something like that?i can solo mine, some boats over 35ft have too many ropes for one person to operate,I guess Drake would be best to answer that question from what ive seen America is the place to buy boats its a dead market and buyer's are far and few between
SuperHotjane Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I still have lots to learn, but I'm having tons of fun learning about camera stuff and editing :) Part two will be available tomorrow (fingers crossed) :)
Really enjoyed this boat tour Mads! Your friend Doug is a great storyteller. Now I am wondering if I should start searching for hidden engravings on Kismet too! :-) Looking forward to Part 2. Fair winds, Marco and Desiree s/y Kismet
Kismet Adventures Thank you so much! Doug is awesome both as a person and as a storyteller :) One of the most friendly and supportive people I know :) Haha, go for it! I can tell you there were none aboard Obelix. There is a wired string of numbers and letters glassed in on the underside of the cockpit, but that's all. Nowhere near as cool as what Doug found aboard Harmony! Part two should be up tomorrow. Fair winds! :)
What a great video, I also love the Westsail boats and the 42 is my favorite, like Pass Me By said hard to find for sale. But they are out there, do you have any friends with Formosa's , Thanks again Capt. Thanks for sharing your boat.
Thanks for the tour! :-D I do belive Westsail is a hard boat to come by in Scandinavia. Maybe you should look for a good buy when you are over there aswell. Just a short trip over the pond... Right? ... :-)
SY JollyDodger Haha, so true! I have seen one Westsail 32 for sale in Europe and that's it. I don't have the money yet but when I do I might end up buying a boat over here. Although getting it home will be a bit of a hazel (EU red tape).
The ADVENTURES of the CAYMAN JEWEL Thank you so much :) The Vagabond 42 is on my list too :) Perhaps I should do a video about my ever growing list of possible upgrade boats :)
***** Doing video reviews of as many boats as possible that are on your list, would be a great idea. And now that I know that you and I are the same height, it gives me a very important frame of reference whenever you vlog your experiences aboard other vessels. :)
Moe Jaime Hey Moe :) My list of boats is long - very long! But I do feel the Westsail 42 is a strong contender :) Good thing I still have a few years to think about it (need to save up the money) ;)
Lol Sorry Mads ,you must be tired of me teasting you about getting a new boat but its hard to see you on it being so tall . Don't get me wrong I think your boat is one of the best designs on the market ,and one of the best open ocean capable also !
I would be interested to see how easy it is to move around while underway in this boat. There does not seem to be a large amount of handholds to cover walking across the wide beam.
chax2004 Thanks, I like that these guys show us inside different boats but hate that they do not tell us what the headroom height is. Knowing he is close to 6'2" will help.
***** I am not complaining because I love your work and your contributions are fantastic. I just find sometimes the volume is a little low and difficult to hear. Not sure if you use a separate microphone or the one on the camera but some you-tubers use separate mics with good results. Cheers
Paul Young Thanks :) I love feedback and did in no way take yours as merely someone complaining. Quite the opposite in fact - thank you for taking the time to leave feedback :) I'm still new to all this video stuff so any help/feedback is very much appreciated. I'll see if I can adjust the volume on my upcoming videos without introducing too much noise. On my computer, the volume is good but I'm sure not all computers are equally loud or have equally good/detailed speakers. It would be interesting to learn how I can optimize audio with that in mind.
This may be a little off topic however you have never posted any videos of you sailing. WHY? I see a lot of videos of you looking at boats, fixing boat and so on but NONE sailing.
It's true that I don't post a lot of videos of me sailing. I do have some :) The first 10 (or so) videos I published on RU-vid where off me sailing. I've got videos of me sailing in Canada and the US. Also, tomorrow I'll publish the first video from the trip from Scotland to Denmark. I don't shot video every single time I go out sailing :) Some people find that very odd. Luckily there are plenty of sailing videos on RU-vid ;)
