Sail Life - Tour of a Westsail 42, Part 2 of 2 

Thanks for a wonderful tour of the Westsail 42, I found a derelict old girl recently and fell in love, even though she is pretty wrecked and needing a major refit. Nice to see what she could look like internally. Such a classy boat.

Hi Mads; Doug should receive an award for his well thought out and well laid out engine room. I have serviced yachts for decades and have coined the term “economaintainabilitiness”. Doug got it right. Incorporating this into any vessel will literally save tens of thousands of costly man-hours of servicing. Aside from safety while at sea, it also promotes a neat and workman like appearance, which unlike rat-nested, cramped installations, will operate longer and require less overall maintenance. Stellar interview Mads, and wow, the roominess of the Westsail 42s engine compartment is fantastic. I know that my bad back would certainly appreciate it, and like Doug said, with that much space, doing routine chores, e.g., changing oil, or replacing the Racor filters, would no longer be a dreaded task.

Hey Mads! That was a great video! I never really looked into a Westsail, but I was pretty impressed with the size and space of the 42. I have always been a Hunter man myself, but it has me thinking. I couldn't believe the size of the engine bay! Like a ball room! Thanks for sharing ! Hope you have a nice time in Nyack. If you get a chance you might look up the Nyack Boat Club. Hi Mads, I have found an Albin Ballard close to were I live and will be going to look at it. I have 2 questions to ask you. What is the head room on an Albin Ballard ? How tall are you Mads ? I am considering buying my first sailboat and I think it would be a great learning boat for me. Do you have any imput on that ? Thank You Mads,
