Caio! We are a sailing family, pursuing an unconventional dream of converting an ex Vendée Globe Open 66 race boat into a fast family cruiser to continue our circumnavigation on. We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple who have spent most of our lives on the sea, and for the last 2 years we've been joined by our 2 year old son Nemo and rescue puppy Solo, both born during our big refit of the boat in Fiji.
NV was originally designed & built & raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa. He competed in her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), finishing 5th, becoming the first non-frenchman to finish.
We've recently finished a big refit in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser. We launched in Sept 2022 and finally set sail from Fiji in April 2023. With limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality and sail back to our home in the Mediterranean.

Great vid again. And on plastic waste. I know Nika, from the channel White Spot Pirates, has set up something in Costa Rica. With little machines enabling locals to make things out of plastic waste. For own use or to sell to tourists. Maybe she can help. She is a solosailor with a dog, Boga.

Bravo, thanks for your nice video. We are Britain French sailors, now in Panama. Your orange storm jib was built by a famous sailmaker, Victor Tonnerre, from Lorient in Brittany. On your sail, this is his design. He is also the sailmaker for Eric Tabarly, with the différents Pen Duick. Now he is retired but his company continue. Thank for all these different subjets.

If you ever get to Florida in the US we have Manatee (Sea Cow) that look just like the Dugong!

Just like a dugong except manatee have paddle tails and dugongs have whale tails.

I saw a bunch of them down here in Florida, USA. It would be a great place to sail that yacht if you want to go around the world.

Manatees in Florida, Dugongs in the South Pacific. Manatees have paddle tails, dugongs have whale tails.

The bad news is that almost no countries have recycling in place. It's largely a myth perpetrated by plastics marketers to sell more plastic. Most of it is burnt or buried in first world countries too. New plastic is much cheaper than recycled. So unless new plastic stock is heavily taxed then 99% of manufacturers use new plastic feedstock. I am not aware of any country with such a tax.
