Caio! We are a sailing family, pursuing an unconventional dream of converting an ex Vendée Globe Open 66 race boat into a fast family cruiser to continue our circumnavigation on. We are Timo and Jo, an Italian and English couple who have spent most of our lives on the sea, and for the last 2 years we've been joined by our 2 year old son Nemo and rescue puppy Solo, both born during our big refit of the boat in Fiji.
NV was originally designed & built & raced by famous Hungarian sailor Nándor Fa. He competed in her in the 1992 Vendée Globe (round the world single handed race known as “the Everest of the seas”), finishing 5th, becoming the first non-frenchman to finish.
We've recently finished a big refit in Fiji giving this old gladiator a new lease on life, transforming her from an ex race boat to a performance family cruiser. We launched in Sept 2022 and finally set sail from Fiji in April 2023. With limited time&money we have plenty of challenges ahead to turn our dreams into reality and sail back to our home in the Mediterranean.

It is great to see you guys sailing. It might be nice to see a map of where you have traveled in each episode. Have you practiced rescuing someone that has fallen overboard? That might make an interesting video clip in a future video. Just throw an extra life jacket into the water and loop back around.

I do love your channel. Last video I saw a hardshell guitarcase next to Timo when he was repairing the watermaker. Being a guitarplayer and collector I like to ask what guitar is in the case and who plays it?

Hey thanks Gert :) it’s a very nice guitar in that case - a good sailing friend of ours very kindly gave it to us!!! But I couldn’t tell you the brand right now… but I will look next time… it was probably Guido that had been playing it in that video, he was a really great crew member that plays very nicely… I (Jo) also play a little bit… it’s definitely a great instrument to have onboard!!

@@SailingNV Hey Jo (what are you doing with that guitar in your hands). I assume it is an acoustic steelstring. Most likely a 6-string. And she (boats as well as guitars are female), travelling in a high-end case, must be something valuable. What a great gift. The setup of any guitar is eminent for how she plays and sounds. What I do, as a hobby, is to setting up guitars. I will spare you all things that matter. It is a lot. Let me know brand and type and maybe I can be of help.
