Goose barnacles. You are both very brave. Do they taste a bit like crab? Or closer to mussels?

Good sail combination on your close haul. Question: I’m watching in order so wondering if you provide more info about Cherry Ripe. If not, can you share? I think you said she was built in 1979? Who is the builder? Model? Length?

Cherry Ripe is a Rival 38, the hull was built in 1979 by Southern Boatbuilding in the UK (and the interior fitted by the father of Stephen, who we met in Chapter 4). LOA 11.43m, beam 3.5m, draught 1.6m. Thanks for the interest, and starting to think of filming some sort of interior and exterior boat tour in the future!

@@waterpeople-expedition Rival 38! I would have never guessed! A beautiful and reliable vessel. Only 63 built. I don't think I've seen another Sailing RU-vidr with one so yes please, a tour video would be wonderful! Amazed how great of shape she seems after 41 years. She was obviously well cared for. I'm really enjoying your videos. Thank you so much!

really love your videos! great work! I have got one question, how much sail experience did you guys have before you started your adventure?

Thanks a lot Robin! Mitch had never stepped on a sailboat before March last year, so she’s learning fast! About 10 years ago Tim worked on a few boats as crew, and then did a basic skippers course just before buying Cherry Ripe. He spent the first year making short trips in Scotland and getting to know the boat. In summary, we have so much still to learn! The scary bit is not knowing what we don’t know. We continually try our best to learn as much as we can through a combination of reading books, watching RU-vid, talking to other sailors, and learning-as-we-go. We plan our passages cautiously and with a margin of safety so that we have breathing room to handle challenges we face along the way.
