Something most people don't seem to notice, this fight wasn't just because Popeye wasn't happy about Saitama not liking his spinach, not exactly, at least. Popeye's spinach was ¥15.00, which is about 13 cents, so Saitama was saying Popeye's spinach wasn't even worth 13 cents. I'd say that's cause to be offended, not cause to jump to murder, mind you, but Popeye didn't seem to be going for the kill at first, just a fight to teach Saitama a lesson, and after Saitama hit him so hard that he was a bloody smear and scattered body parts, I'd say Popeye being willing to use lethal force in the fight is understandable.
In the final clash Popeye literally says “that’s all I can stands cuz I can’t stands no more”. Popeye wasn’t gonna kill Saitama until the very end. And when he truly got serious Saitama died immediately
@@passarovoador6662 That was actually captain Strong. A character Action Comics created as homage to popeye for their success with Supermas as that's who was used as inspiration. Captain strong actually looks like popeye right down to the bulky forearms and navy anchor tattoos and the getting stronger by eating a plant based food bit that it might as well have been popeye himself, but no, it wasn't popeye.
@@passarovoador6662 Also, it worked something like the venom Bane used. It made him stronger, sure. But it could also kill him the more he used if I remember right.
Now see, THESE guys get it. They embraced the fun of it AND they obviously knew who was gonna win. It's a bit sad how many people don't even consider it contestable but fact that Saitama would win. I mean, did they SEE the popeye version? Wiz and Boomstick didn't even bother to mention some of popeye's other cosmic feats because the point was already made.
@@crcoghill The most painful part is, in the beginning of the video Nate literally said that Saitama's gonna win unless Popeye has god like abilities and he STILL said it was bullshit when DB provided all the evidence supporting Popeye's win. The dude's literally contradicting himself.
@@daboi8734 Reminds me of their Kirby vs Boo fight. They called BS when Kirby won and when they gave their reasoning, they said “because I said so.” Flawless logic really.
fun fact: Shigeru Miyamoto, the man who developed the Mario games, actually wanted to start he's first game as a Popeye Arcade Game. but they couldn't get the rights and thus created Donkey Kong. so if Miyamoto was able to get the rights, we would never have had Mario or Donkey Kong... or maybe the universe would have found a way, but still.
Yeah, but the Popeye arcade game was made after Donkey Kong. After seeing how successful Donkey Kong was, King Features was more willing to let “the Donkey Kong people” use Popeye in a video game.
@@xdonthave1xx King Features thought that video games are a dying fad, which is why Nintendo didn’t have permission to make a video game with Popeye at first… though it doesn’t explain how that was possible with a Game & Watch game, but that could be of a different reason.
Well a couple fights that could threaten the universe like this one did Thanos versus darkseid, hulk versus broly, and truck versus Sega man (because it's to troublesome to do his name)
This particular death battle is probably their best episode, if only because it holds the distinction of completing one of the combatant's character arc before his own source material.
Forget to mention this, but the voice actor who plays Popeye in this episode. He’s also the writer of… well you know… The one that both fighters wear overpowered emerald weapons, travel to space, and it also includes time which comes with a tip.
I am relief to hear you guys listen to the episode with Saitama's Audio Clips from his show still intacted. RU-vid had to intervene for those pieces of audio to be removed.
Actually Popeye does have his own brand of canned spinach. Comes whole or chopped, but it is watery and gross. Also ten kilometers is around six miles and change. That is half a marathon.
The list consists of the following. Oh, and I'll add who I think they'll fight. Wanda, aka Starlet Witch from Marvel, who's probably fighting Zatana from DC. Tanjaro from Demon Slayer who's probably fighting Jonathan Joestar from JoJo's. Tetsou from Akira who's probably gonna fight either Magneto from Marvel, or Metwto from Pokémon. Boba Fett from Star Wars who's probably gonna fight either Wolf from Star Fox, or the Predator from Predator. Vegeta from Dragonball who's 100% fighting Thor from Marvel. And finally, Jinx from League Of Legends, who actually has 3 choices, which in terms of how likely they are to happen, also corelate with how much I like the matchup, starting with the one who's most likely her opponent and is my least favorite of the 3, Harley Quinn from DC, next is the one in the middle ground, Junkrat from Overwatch, and finally the one who's least likely to happen but is my favorite of the 3, Trigger Happy from Skylanders.
@@jaydenklaus to be fair, almost everyone could predict those fights. If you see other prediction videos, you'll see that even they got the matchup right so far.
13:58 Wrong. Yes it does. Lol What kind of spinach have you tried? Canned spinach is the only kind I've seen. Haha Popeye even had his own brand of Spinach in *REAL LIFE,* and it was *CANNED* spinach. Lmao The more you know. 😃🧠🥦🥫 But overall, such a great reaction! Very glad that you guys actually ENJOYED it, and didn't take it so seriously like other reactors did... haha W reaction! 👍🔥
I’ve been saying this on most of the reaction videos I’ve seen to this fight: This fight is a prime example of the remake never being as good as the original
@@oceandragoon3099 you know how remakes of movies or tv shows are never as good as the original versions? Here I’m saying Saitama is basically the remake of Popeye.
I'm really happy that Popeye one, Popeye was screwed over with the emoji movie, and I hope this brings maybe an extra couple thousand to know who he is!!!
i wonder how many people started to look up Popeye cartoons after this fight. i'm also disappointed they didn't use the Robin Williams look in the 3D portion. Yeah, in the live-action movie, it was Robin who played him
It wasn't "Popeye Spinach" though..the name on the can is actually the last name of Popeye's creator, who obtained permission from an actual US Navy Sailor to use him as inspiration for the character
Nice to have you guys back. Looking forward to all of your reactions. Also, word of warning for whenever you guys do season 2 of gen:LOCK. The second season... isn't as good as the first, for several reasons. RT has nothing to do with Season 2 whatsoever, with one of the animators from the previous season downright saying it was a disservice to what the original crew had done.
12:49: Popeye turning the Native Americans into Coins? Nah, that’s not the worst thing in “I yam what I yam”; that would be at the very end, where he turned their Chief into Mahatma Ghandi; the punchline is that Caucasians mislabeled Native Americans as “Indians”.
So even if they did like, Saitama vs goku, Saitama biggest feat is potential planet busting, goku can destroy a universe 9 times bigger than our own observable universe in base form by this point, the observable universe is nearly infinitly larger than just 1 planet, so base form goku would decimate Saitama, let alone any transformed goku
Wow dude I love watch the reaction of Saitama vs Popeye this is epic so dude please i give you a thumbs 👍 hey react to madara vs aizen rap battle rustage ft dizzyeight
Yes, spinach does come in a can guys. It's shredded & packed in water before they seal it up. Yeah, you can still get it fresh from the market produce section if you want but it IS available in cans too. Can we take a moment to appreciate that every time the art & animation changed styles, they were breaking through into other dimensions...Not as an intentional tactic, mind you, just as a side effect of their battle. We should also appreciate how durable that Bluto would have to be in order to continue surviving from Popeye's beatings so often. I never really appreciated how ugly Popeye really is until I saw him modeled in 3D. BTW, that model was based from a similar character that was derived from Popeye & always done in 3D, by the name of Captain Strong, but it worked pretty good for Popeye too. Welp, that's how it goes for 'Toons, especially the older ones. Roger Rabbit explained it to Eddie Valiant (Who Framed Roger Rabbit movie) quite succinctly: A 'Toon can do *anything* but only when it's funny. It's just as Wiz said, "Popeye is on a whole other level of bulls#|t"
@@dragonballandhonkaiimpact1022 Comics. DB almost always defaults to the original source material unless under certain circumstances, though other things can be used as supporting evidence. The latter’s not important at all considering 616 comics Thor can do literally everything the MCU version can and far more.
@@DoctorHippo As someone who doesn’t keep up with things like Death Battle cast, I’m going to have to ask for clarification on what exactly makes Thor being Vegeta’s opponent such a guarantee.
@@psb123x it's not garuntee, but I think it's just because Thor is his most popular opponent and death battle also did a dbx on Vegeta vs Thor which makes the chances for this fight happening high.
@@psb123x Thor is his most popular opponent, Thor has a new movie coming out, Thor vs Vegeta is just a really popular matchup that people have wanted since the show began, the DB team has shown a ton of interest in it with stuff like a Community Voting and a DBX. Everyone other Vegeta matchup just doesn’t stack up to Thor happening
popeye is really the strongest there is! he got beyond cartoon level powers! as he could even knockout his own creator! that is some wicked shit! and coming from like the late 1920s. even stronger than any other cartoons characters! such bug bunny, tom and jerry relatively speaking they won't die but there never beat someone like popeye in a fight! they will always lose as that is not there gimmick and therefore are limited those cartoon power or will of bending those realities. this shocking that popeye an old forgotten character is actually the strongest of everything and anything. no one can beat em right? in order for you to beat popeye what would it take? not even popeye could beat him self in a fight! that is CRAZY!
even if we take into account that saitama destroyed Jupiter, which is very close to a brown dwarf which is a failed star, saitima still wouldn't be able to win
This is one of those episodes where the people debunking it are salty fans of the guy who lost, that's the only explanation for why they'd be dumb enough to think the most one sided episode of all time is inaccurate.
Except those "Debunks" were biased and 1 of them even try to say Popeye's toon force doesn't matter & Saitama can do what Popeye can because he is a "gag" character which is ridiculous and not true.
The only people who don't accept that Popeye wins by default are hardcore OPM fans that actually believe he can 1 hit KO everyone in every universe from every piece of media. He was never gonna beat Toon force because characters like Popeye, Bugs, daffy etc can literally step out of their universe and erase him with a pencil.
