This Pohela Boisakh, Ranveer Brar joins Sakshi Tanwar to prepare a delicious Bengali dish- Dhokar Dlana, which is fried lentil cakes in a potato gravy. Follow Sakshi's step by step recipe and let us know how it turned out.
Ingredients
3 to 4 Green Chili
1 inch Ginger
1 cup soaked Split Bengal Gram
Salt as per taste.
Oil for frying the lentil cakes.
½ tsp Cumin Seeds
Pinch of Asafoetida
Pinch of Turmeric Powder
2 to 3 tbsp Mustard oil
2 medium Tomato Puree
½ cup Curd
1 cup Potato diced
1 tsp Red Chili Powder
1 tsp Coriander Powder
¼ tsp Garam Masala
¾ tsp Cumin Seeds
Salt as per taste.
Pinch of Sugar
Water
For Garnish:
Green Chili
Lemon
Coriander
Method
Chop green chili and ginger, and add it in the soaked dal. Add salt to it. And blend all of it. In a pan heat oil add cumin seeds to it, now add asafoetida now add the ground dal mixture to it. Now add turmeric, mix well. For the gravy, take mustard oil in a pan, cut filet like pieces of the prepared dhokar, and fry it in the mustard oil. Flip it to cook from both sides. Cut slices of potato (with the skin) and fry them. Take curd and add red chili powder in it, turmeric powder, coriander powder, and garam masala and mix it well. In another pan, Add cumin seeds in mustard oil also add asafoetida. Now add the tomato Puree and the curd mixture. Add salt and a bit of sugar and mix well. Add water and keep mixing. Now add the fried dhokar and fried potato. Garnish with Green Chili lemon and coriander.
