@@thecountercorps Do you intend to get Korsun Pocket 2? I like the simpler rules as in Ukraine '43, etc.

That one wasn't on my radar, but I'll see if I can grab it at some point! But yes -- definitely enjoy all the GMT '40 series of games... they really let you think about gameplay instead of rules and are a good balance to some of the chunkier series I like

Haha, yeah I know that feeling brother. Which one did you pick up? If you got Smolensk, I highly recommend this 57 page example of play you can download from BGG. I really wish MMP included these examples of play in their games, but luckily some saint on the internet has done it for us. Play alongside this teaching example though and you'll have 90% of it under control, then you'll realize just how long one turn takes lol. boardgamegeek.com/filepage/189216/introduction-ocs-smolensk-north-pincer

6:59 The truck replaces the unit's own movement allowance. So, the truck had 5/2=3 movement points plus 3 from extended movement (6 in total). The movement allowance of the unit being transported doesn't matter. 9:55 A beachhead only gets the bonus defense strength if the helping allied units are adjacent to both the beachhead and the attacking German unit. So, there were spots where the Germans could have avoided this bonus. The beachheads get eliminated by *EX* and *DR* results too so there's often a chance. They can't retreat after all. In this situation they had a combined defense of 8. Especially after the tank and elite bonuses it doesn't seem that bad, right? But I'm no expert of the strategy of this game. I just know the rules (I think). 12:17 Sugar beach is not closed on turn 1. After that, it's closed. *24.4.3*

30.28 you don't get an elite shift because the defender is elite

30:24 - you don't get a shift for elite units, because British commandos are also elite. See rules: 9.7 Elite Shift If the attacker has an Elite unit in his MAF and the defender does not have any Elite units in the defending hex, then the attacker earns one column shift right on the CRT. The Elite Shift can never be earned by the defender.
