You make yourself sound stupid by saying there's nothing to flyfishing. How is it the most boring, when you are continually casting and covering a pool? Spinning can be as skilled as the fly, though little skill is needed casting. Worm can be reasonably skillful when fished thoughtfully, but the reality is a majority of bait fishers are just chuck and chancers. I see them everyday when the river is up, sat there, drowning worms. The worse thing is they allow fish to swallow the bait, so there's no chance of returning coloured fish.

You'll find most enlightened anglers realise there's no need to use trebles for most of our fishing.I have replaced the trebles on all my raps, flying c's and tubes with singles, and have had no problems hooking or landing fish. You also lose less lures, and catch fewer leaves at the back end. A single usually finds a good hook hold in the corner of the mouth, whereas trebles can end up anywhere, including in your hands when unhooking.As far as walking an elephant on a silk lead, yes you can- I had three good fish last season, largest 14lb on my 7 weight trout rod and a size 10 gold head nymph, on a 10lb leader. All three fish were beaten in good time, and went back kicking. In that low water you wouldn't be catching with your meat hooks, I can assure you. You're living in the past thinking these are silly new rules, the big runs are over, and we need to take care of what we've got left. Think about it.
